Bei herkömmlichen Aufwickelrohren ist die Position des Beginns der aufzuwickelnden Materialbahn relativ zum Aufwickelrohr in der Regel nicht fest vorgegeben und demzufolge der Anfang der Bahn nicht eindeutig fixiert. Beim Aufwickeln der Materialbahn ergibt sich eine Unstetigkeitsstelle bzw. eine Stoßstelle, insbesondere beim Aufwickeln von dickeren Materialbahnen aufgrund der Überlappung zwischen der ersten und der zweiten sowie weiteren Wickellagen.
