Description

The present invention relates to a device for fine adjustment of the useful length of a bracelet, in particular a watch strap comprising two strands and a clasp for connecting the free ends of said strands to make it possible to connect these free ends with a length useful determined.

Several solutions have already been proposed for making it possible to make a modification to the initial setting of the useful length of a bracelet, in particular a watchband. This kind of adjustment is of particular interest in the case of clasps known as clasps with folding blades or branches, in which the ends of the bracelet remain attached to the free ends of the blades or branches articulated to each other. clasp, so that the useful length of the bracelet can only be changed by changing the initial setting. However, this adjustment requires the use of tools and a certain skill, so that it is not within the reach of all.

Solutions for adjusting the useful length of the bracelet between two or three different lengths are described in the CH-A-571 327 , in the CH-A-663,522 and in the WO-A-03/015562 . All proposed solutions are intended to allow adjustment without tools and without requiring any special skill.

In the CH-A-571 327 , one of the branches of the clasp is telescopic and has several openings to allow the attachment elements of the other branch to attach to different lengths of the telescopic branch.

The CH-A-663,522 and WO-A-03/015562 both have, between the two articulated branches, a small articulated link, can be tilted in two positions, one in which its length is added to that of the branches and the other in which it is removed from that of the branches, allowing to vary the useful length of the bracelet between two determined values .

These known solutions only make it possible to make an adjustment between two or even three positions and the length differences between these positions are necessarily of a few millimeters, the design of the proposed adjustment devices not allowing a length adjustment with almost continuous variations. on a range of given length. In addition, all the aforementioned solutions require the opening of the clasp to adjust the useful length of the bracelet.

The object of the present invention is to overcome, at least in part, the aforementioned drawbacks.

For this purpose, this invention relates to a device for fine adjustment of the useful length of a bracelet, in particular a watchband, according to claim 1.

The adjustment device object of this invention has several advantages, that of allowing a quasi-continuous adjustment over a range of several millimeters, typically over a range corresponding to half the width of the bracelet. This adjustment is made without the need to open the clasp, making it the easiest adjustment device to use that one can imagine. Thanks to this characteristic, the wearer of the bracelet realizes in real time the effect of the adjustment, which allows him to make a precise adjustment, especially since this device allows him to modify the useful length in very small increments on a adjustment range with three to four times more adjustment positions than known devices.

Finally, this device is of extremely simple construction and can be easily dismantled and reassembled to perform a cleaning if necessary.

The figure 1 illustrates a preferred form of the invention in which the adjustment device object of the invention is associated with a clasp with blades or articulated branches connecting the two free ends of the bracelet and generally called clasp blades or folding arms or clasp.

This clasp of known type therefore comprises two curved branches 1, 2 hinged to one another and held in the folded position by separable hooking means (not shown). One of the strands 3a of the bracelet is connected by a fixing bar 4 to the free end of the branch, 1 of the clasp, while the free end of the branch 2 of this clasp is connected by a bar 5 to the adjusting device 6 object of the invention.

Ce second organe de réglage manuel 8 forme aussi un couvercle de fermeture du dispositif de réglage 6.This adjusting device 6 essentially comprises a first adjusting member 7 having the shape of a disc connected to the clasp 1, 2 by the bar 5, the ends of which are fixed in two parallel and diametrically opposite fastening tabs 7c, which extend perpendicularly below the disk forming the first adjustment member 7. This bar 5 passes through the free end of the branch 2 of the clasp located between the fixing lugs 7c of the disc 7. Consequently, the first adjustment member 7 of the adjustment device 6 is connected by the two curved branches 1, 2 of the clasp at the end of the strand 3a of the bracelet, thus ensuring a fixed position of the first adjustment member 7 relative to the longitudinal axis of the strand 3a of the bracelet. This first adjustment member 7 comprises a circular lateral surface 7a which serves as a guiding surface for a second manual adjustment member 8, also in the form of a disk provided with a circular rim having an inner circular guide inner surface 8f engaged with the circular guide surface 7a. These two circular guide surfaces 7a, 8f are held engaged by two bolts 10, as illustrated by the figure 4 allowing the inner circular guide surface 8f to rotate about the circular guide surface 7a. This second manual adjustment member 8 also forms a closure cover for the adjustment device 6.

As illustrated by figure 5 , the first adjusting member 7 further comprises guide means which, in this example, are in the form of a rectilinear guide opening 7b radially oriented and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bracelet. This rectilinear guide opening 7b, radially oriented is engaged with a connecting member 9 slidably mounted in this rectilinear guide opening 7b radially oriented. This connecting member 9 is still engaged on the one hand, with an arcuate opening 8a formed through the second manual adjustment member 8 and on the other hand, with one of the perforations 11 for fixing and the preliminary adjustment of length, arranged through the second strand 3b of the bracelet. The two ends of the arcuate opening 8a are located on the same diameter of the manual adjustment member 8. The arcuate opening 8a has the general shape of a half-ring whose center C is located near this same diameter. As illustrated by figure 4 , the outer edge of this opening 8a has a notch 8b for cooperating with the connecting member 9 for the purpose that will be explained later.

Given that the connecting member 9 is engaged with the arcuate opening 8a of the second manual adjustment member 8 and with the rectilinear guide opening 7b radially oriented first adjusting member 7, it follows that the rotation of the second manual adjustment member 8 causes that of the arcuate opening 8a, which then constitutes a driving element of the connecting member 9, so that the rotation of the arcuate opening 8a around its end coaxial in the center of the second manual adjustment member 8 results in a displacement of the connecting member 9 along the rectilinear guide opening 7b orientation radial. Given, in addition, firstly that the radial opening 7b is oriented in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet and secondly, that the connecting member 9 is integral with the bracelet strand 3b, it follows that any rotation of the second manual adjustment member 8 is translated, according to the direction of this rotation, by an elongation or shortening of the useful length of the bracelet.

The role of the notch 8b formed along the outer edge of the arcuate opening 8a is to allow to retain the connecting member 9 in different positions, when the member 9 is subjected to a centrifugal force relative to the manual adjustment device 8 This force can result from putting under a certain tension of the bracelet.

A friction disc 13 is still housed between the two adjustment members 7 and 8. This friction disc 13 is a bent spring disk, designed to create friction between the two adjustment members 7 and 8, to prevent the second member manual adjustment 8 is able to rotate freely relative to the first. In addition, as illustrated by figure 2 this friction disc 13 is traversed by the connecting member 9 and is housed in a circular recess 8c centered on the center C of the arcuate opening 8a, so that the friction disk 13 is rotated around the center C, when the second manual adjustment member 8 is rotated, thereby continuously blocking the arcuate opening 8a.

Other means for transmitting motion between the second manual adjustment member 8 and the connecting member 9, to transform the circular displacement of the second manual adjustment member 8 into a displacement of the connecting member 9, guided by the rectilinear guide opening 7b extending in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet 3a, 3b, may be envisaged. This is how one could have a link 14 whose one end is articulated to the second adjusting member 8 ', while the other end is articulated to the connecting member 9. The angular positioning of the second adjustment member 8' can be obtained by a pawl 15 integral with the first adjusting member 7 in engagement with an internal toothing 8'd formed on the inner face of the flange of the second adjustment member 8 '.

According to another variant, the second adjustment member 8 "has an internal toothing 8" e engaged with a pinion 16 pivotally mounted on the first fixed adjustment member 7 and meshing with a rack 17 radially oriented and parallel to the opening straight guide 7b radially oriented and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bracelet of the first adjustment member 7. The connecting member 9 is simultaneously engaged with the rectilinear guide opening 7b and with the rack 17. A pawl 18 is engaged with a second set of teeth 17a for positioning the adjusting device in different positions.

In the variant illustrated by the Figures 8 to 12 , the connecting member 29 is integral with an elongated slider 29a mounted in a diametrical slider 27b formed in the first adjustment member 27. This elongate slider 29a has a projection 29b, 29c at each of its ends. The second manual adjustment member 28 is guided in rotation by the circular lateral surface 27a of the first adjustment member 27 and has two driving grooves 28a, 28b intended to come respectively and alternately in engagement with the projections 29b, 29c.

The driving grooves 28a, 28b each comprise an active portion in semicircular circular arc, the two semicircular portions of the same radius being aligned with respect to the same diameter of the second manual adjustment member 28 and staggered along of this diameter. This variant with two drive grooves 28a, 28b for alternately engaging two projections 29b, 29c of the slider 29a allows to double the range of adjustment, relative to the first embodiment. This adjustment range is shown by the displacement of the slider 29a, from its position illustrated by the figure 8 to that illustrated by the figure 10 and corresponds to a rotation of 360 ° of the manual adjustment member 28. In order to avoid encountering a problem when the projection 29b arrives at the intersection between the driving groove 28a and the driving groove 28b, the latter 28b has a end 28b, located beyond its semicircular active portion, to temporarily engage with the projection 29c at the moment when the projection 29b is at the intersection between the drive grooves 28a, 28b, as illustrated by FIG. figure 9 .

As we see on the figure 11 , the groove 28b is deeper than the groove 28a and the projection 29c is longer than the projection 29b, so that the crossover problem does not arise when the projection 29c intersects the groove 28a. We can also see on Figures 8 to 10 outside the active portions of the grooves 28a, 28b defined above, the width of these grooves 28a, 28b increases, to allow simultaneous guiding only with one of the two grooves 28a, 28b.

The center of the second manual adjustment member 28 comprises a circular opening in which a fixed indicator member 34 is located which has, on its internal face, a diametric slide 34a in engagement with the slide 29a. The external face of this fixed indicator member 34, as well as the external face of the second manual adjustment member 28 may advantageously carry marks (not shown) to enable the angular position of the second member to be known. manual adjustment 28 relative to the range of adjustment that extends over 360 °.

An internal lateral portion of the second manual adjustment member 28 carries angular positioning means 28c in the form of notches regularly distributed around its axis of rotation and intended to come selectively and successively in engagement with a fold 35a arranged along an elastic positioning member 35 formed by a leaf spring housed in the first positioning member 27, as illustrated by the figure 12 .

As can be seen, if a force is exerted on the connecting member 29 following traction on the bracelet, this force will be substantially directed towards the center of the second manual adjustment member 28, so that it does not will result no torque likely to turn involuntarily this second manual adjustment member 28.
