Description

The invention relates to a cigarette substitute comprising a hollow tubular element provided with an inhalable product generator, internal heating means for heating the sucked air or at least part of the inhalable product generator, and a device for trigger the generator of inhalable products.

People who want to quit smoking have at their disposal an arsenal of medical and non-medical aids. Quitting smoking requires not only to get rid of nicotine, but also to lose the reflex of lighting a cigarette. These two factors are the main source of the failure of cessation treatments.

For this, different cigarette substitutes have been proposed that while simulating the gesture of smoking a cigarette do not release the toxic substances of real cigarettes such as tar. According to the models, these substitutes release only nicotine or only an odorant and / or taste, or both.

So we know WO 2005 009152 A an imitation of cigarette consisting of a cylindrical body made of plastic material in which there is at one end a plug allowing the ambient air to pass, natural essences positioned between two filters and a mouthpiece. This imitation of cigarette thus delivers only scents of natural essences.

Of WO 2005 099494 A , there is known a nicotine aerosol electronic cigarette comprising in a shell an electronic circuit, a constant pressure cavity, a sensor, a gas-liquid separator, an atomizer and a feed bottle, the electronic circuit being composed of a electronic switching circuit and a high frequency generator. This electronic cigarette can deliver to the smoker a dose of nicotine.

These two substitutes for cigarettes give the smoker a cold burst of natural essences or nicotine, far from the sensations he usually feels when he smokes a real cigarette.

Cigarette substitutes have therefore been proposed in which the sucked air is heated either directly or via the inhalable product generator. In all cases, the user inhales a puff of heated air loaded with the product to be inhaled.

On retrouve un dispositif similaire dans le document DE 297 13 866 U1 .An example of the first embodiment is disclosed in DE 199 35 706 A1 . There is a cigarette comprising, arranged one behind the other, an incandescent wire, a battery, a switch activated by suction and a filter soaked in nicotine and optionally a flavoring agent (menthol). The sucked air is heated by the glow wire and then passes through the filter where it is loaded with nicotine. This cigarette provides a hot air rich in nicotine. We find a similar device in the document DE 297 13 866 U1 .

In the document US 4,945,931 A a valve, activated by aspiration, causes the spray of a spray contained in a pressure bottle. This spray, mixed with air sucked simultaneously, is heated by an electrical resistance before being inhaled.

For example, the document EP 0 430 559 A2 discloses an aroma producing article in which the aroma generator is in direct contact with a heating resistor. Under the effect of the heat produced by the heating resistor, the aroma generator releases its substance or substances which are then inhaled by the user. A similar device is disclosed in the document EP 0 503 767 A1 .

The document DE 198 54 005 A1 proposes a cigarette substitute in which a material capable of generating an aerosol is surrounded by an electrical resistance. By pressing a button or using a control device, the resistance is heated and air is drawn through the aerosol-releasing material before being inhaled.

The document EP 0 845 220 A1 discloses an article producing an aroma. In this article, the aromatic substance is placed in a reservoir that is provided with a channel leading the liquid to discharge ports. Under the effect of heat, the liquid placed in the discharge ports vaporizes before being sucked by the user. The tank is removable and can be replaced. This device is particularly complicated and expensive.

A first solution is to provide a switch that closes the electrical circuit when pressed ( EP 0 845 220 A1 , DE 297 13 866 U1 , DE 198 54 005 A1 ). Other devices provide for heating during suction, for example by means of a valve moved by the sucked air. In case of suction, this valve moves and causes the heating circuit to close ( DE 199 35 706 A1 , US 4,945,931 ). Finally, other systems provide an entire electronic circuit that controls the heating more or less long and more or less important air or substrate, the heating being initialized by pressing a switch (see EP 0 430 559 A2 , EP 0 503 767 A1 ).

In all these examples, the user finds the sensation of inhaling a breath of air enriched in various products, close to the one he used to inhale with a real cigarette. However, he misses the gesture of lighting a cigarette. However, this gesture is an important part of the smoker's ritual and its absence is one of the causes of the failure of traditional weaning. This is why some documents have proposed heating means that are previously lit with a flame and then burn up without releasing smoke.

This is how the document EP 1 600 066 A2 discloses a smoking article serving as an aerosol for a taste agent. It is in the form of a cigarette having a balsa core serving as a fuel source, surrounded by a large proportion of non-combustible mineral matter impregnated with the flavoring agent, all contained in a noncombustible envelope closed to the fuel. one of its ends by a traditional filter. The envelope and the non-combustible mineral material burn as ash that the smoker can knock down as usual. In the present case, it is believed that the puff inhaled by the smoker is warmed due to burning of the balsa core. However, this puff is rich not only in aerosol, but also in products of combustion that can be harmful.

In the same category of smoking articles, document is known EP 1 468 618 A a cigarette substitute including a hollow cylindrical member provided with a heat generator at one end thereof and a mouthpiece at its other end. In the vicinity of the heat generator, there is disposed a taste generator comprising a plurality of granules containing flavoring substances. Another taste generating device is arranged at a distance from the first for substances that do not require heating. In this article for smoker, the heat generator is largely composed of carbon. It is therefore necessary to ignite the heat generator so that it burns while providing heat. Channels have been provided inside the heat generator to allow air to pass therethrough without being in contact with the burning material. Here again, the cigarette releases products of the combustion of the material constituting the heat generator.

In these two documents, the cigarette substitute is started by igniting with a flame a combustible product which then, while consuming, ensures the heating of the inspired air or the substrate producing the aerosol. The flame therefore triggers a combustion that continues throughout the use of the substitute. Although in some cases the products of combustion are not directly inhaled, at least they emerge in the direct environment of the smoker, and his entourage, greatly diminishing the interest of such substitutes.

The objective of the invention is therefore to provide a cigarette substitute that provides the smoker a breath of hot air enriched with fragrant product or flavor that requires the use of a lighter or a match to put it in works, without causing the combustion of any product.

This object is achieved according to the invention because the triggering device comprises an element sensitive to a heat input produced by heating means located outside the substitute and independent thereof, said element sensitive to a heat input being made in a material that can not ignite or burn under conditions of normal use of the substitute. As long as no external heat has been applied to the element that is sensitive to external heat input, the cigarette substitute can not function properly and no aerosol containing taste or odorous products, or any other product to be inhaled , can not be generated. This cigarette substitute therefore allows the smoker to keep the ritual of lighting the flame of the lighter or match. However, this element sensitive to external heat does not ignite and is not consumed. As a result, no undesirable products are released.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the cigarette substitute further comprises means for starting the internal heating means only when this heat-sensitive element has been subjected to the heat generated. by the external heating means. This prevents the internal heating means from being switched on unnecessarily before the aerosol can be produced.

In a first embodiment of the invention, the triggering device is a heat detector, preferably a bimetallic strip, which is electrically connected to the internal heating means. Thus, when the heat detector detects the external heat input, it gives a signal to the internal heating means which can then start.

In a second embodiment of the invention, the inhalable product generator comprises a reservoir, preferably interchangeable. Thus, it will be possible to reuse the cigarette substitute and choose between several flavors or odorous products.

In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the reservoir is made of a material that can be destroyed at least in part by heating means without igniting or burning, preferably by melting, or by tearing means, and the generator inhalable products is provided with means for absorbing the contents of the tank when it is destroyed at least partially.

It is possible that these tank heating means are constituted by the external heating means. Thus, the heat provided by the flame is used to partially melt the reservoir which thus releases its contents in the absorption means which may be constituted by a buffer, preferably made of a fabric and preferably interchangeable.

It is also possible to realize the heating means of the tank in the form of a heating resistor connected to a source of electrical energy and controlled by the heat-sensitive element. Thus, the heat provided by the flame is detected by the external heat sensitive element which then triggers heating of the tank by the electrical resistance. This electrical resistance can be included in the tank itself or be a component of the cigarette substitute.

It is best to place the tank at the end of the tubular element opposite to that intended to enter the mouth.

To provide heating of the air when the smoker pulls on the cigarette substitute, there are provided means for starting and stopping the electric heating element, the starting means preferably being provided with first means for activating at least a part of the electric heating element in case of aspiration and to deactivate it when the suction stops. It is thus possible to save the source of electrical energy by ensuring complete heating only when the smoker inhales a puff. This also prevents the heating element from getting too hot during the next puff.

Furthermore, it is also possible to provide a virtually instantaneous heating to provide the means for starting second means for activating at least a portion of the electric heating element after the first suction without deactivating when the suction ceases. Thus, once the heating element activated at the time of the first puff, a portion of the heating element remains activated and ensures as in a real cigarette a "base heat". The air in the cigarette substitute is heated and the next puff is hot from the start. With each puff, the rest of the heating element is activated, increasing the heat of the air sucked, as would a real cigarette under the effect of the supply of oxygen due to aspiration.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the first and / or second means for activating the heating element comprise a contactor. This contactor may for example be provided with a low return spring and a disc that can pass air, the spring and the disk being arranged so that the disk closes an electrical circuit during a suction and opens this circuit under the effect of the return spring when the suction stops. The mere fact of sucking air by the substitute causes a current of air which drives the disc against a metal plate by closing the circuit. As soon as the suction stops, the spring recalls the disc and thus cuts the circuit.

It is preferable that the cigarette substitute has an autonomous power source, preferably an electric battery or an accumulator.

It may be useful to provide the cigarette substitute with an air velocity regulator, preferably in the form of a perforated disk.

Moreover, it may be useful to provide the tubular element at its end intended to enter the mouth of a filter, preferably a filter imitating that of a real cigarette. Similarly, it may be favorable to provide on the end of the tubular element opposite the end intended to enter the mouth of light means simulating the incandescence of the cigarette, in particular in the form of a tangle of resistances heaters connectable to the source of electrical energy; preferably by means of the starting means, the light means may have an opening for accessing the inside of the tubular element.

For the smoker to find all the pleasures of a real cigarette, it is possible to provide a smoke generator, including an electric smoke generator that can be connected to the energy source preferably via the means of implementation. walk. It will be ensured that the smoke is not delivered into the smoker's mouth.

The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of the single figure which shows an exemplary embodiment.

The cigarette substitute comprises a hollow tubular element (1) closed at one of its ends (1a) by a filter (2) and at its other end (1b) by luminous means (9) simulating the incandescence of the cigarette .

Behind the filter (2) is an air speed regulator (3). The latter can be made from a perforated disc. The diameter of the perforation is designed to oppose a brake to the air flow equivalent to the suction resistance of a real cigarette.

Then there is a contactor (4) consisting for example of a perforated disc pivoting between an open rest position spaced from the contact plate and a closed position in which it is pressed against the contact plate. A return spring not shown tends to bring it back into the open rest position. When the smoker draws a puff through the tubular element, the air flow causes the closing of the perforated disk and thus closes the switch (4). As soon as the air flow stops due to suction, the spring returns the disc to its open rest position.

Part of the heat generator (6) is intended to be activated only when the smoker draws air through the substitute of cigarette, while the rest must remain activated even between two successive puffs. For this, the means for starting the heating element comprise an electronic circuit not shown which provides control of these two parts. In another embodiment, the contactor (4) may be provided with a double contact, the first contact reacting to the aspirations while the second once closed by the first suction is maintained in this position even when the suction ceases. The heat generator (6) is supplied with electrical energy by an electric battery (5).

The taste and / or odor agents are absorbed on a buffer (7). It is expected that these agents are initially contained in a reservoir (8) placed near the buffer (7). When "lighting" with the flame of the lighter, the heat supplied is transmitted to the reservoir (8) which is destroyed at least partially by melting. The contents of the reservoir (8) are brought into contact with the buffer (7) which absorbs it. In the embodiment shown here, the reservoir (8) is a capsule whose envelope is made of a low melting point material. It is also possible to manually apply on the buffer (7) the products to be inhaled, for example using a pipette. For this purpose there will be an access port for example in the light means (9) closing the "incandescent" end of the cigarette substitute.

In the case of the use of a tank, the size thereof may be such that it allows to obstruct the interior of the hollow tubular element (1) whose end may be metallic. An external heat source, such as the flame of a lighter, then allows to melt the envelope of the capsule and release the liquid which will then be absorbed by capillarity.

It is also possible to surround the tank with a heating resistor which is connected to the battery via the contactor (4) and possibly the electronic control circuit. During the first aspiration, once the substitute has been triggered by the flame of the lighter detected by a detector not shown, the heating resistor melts at least partially the envelope of the capsule by releasing its contents which is absorbed by the buffer (7). Another variant provides for activating the heating resistor directly by the outdoor heat detector. The heating resistor can be integrated in the tank or be placed around it when it is introduced into the tubular element (1).

The exact order of the different components may vary depending on their size and desired effects. In particular, it is possible to provide several tanks, some of which are placed upstream of the heating element to heat their contents during suction and others are placed downstream so that their contents do not pass through the heating element.

By way of non-limiting example, the tube will have the dimensions of a cigarette. The discharge time of the energy source may be of the order of 5 minutes.

Although he is not represented in the example of the figure 1 it is also possible to provide a smoke generator.

The cigarette substitute of the invention operates in the following manner. The user must first prime the flavor or odor generator by approaching a heat source external to the substitute. The simplest is to approach the flame of a lighter or a match. The element sensitive to this external heat is then activated. In the example presented here, the heat at least partially melts the tank (8), releasing its contents on the buffer (7). As long as this action has not taken place, the flavor product or odorant remains locked in the tank (8) and the odor and / or flavor generator is not triggered. As mentioned above, it could have provided a heat detector that would have closed a control circuit. This would have turned on the heating resistor located around or in the tank (8), causing its partial melting. Another alternative would have been to provide a heat detector, for example a bimetal that would have provided a signal to a control circuit. The latter would have then switched to the on position allowing the use of internal heating means (6) or caused the melting of the tank during the first suction. The bimetal could also be designed so that it tears the tank after being deformed under the effect of the heat brought by the flame.

Once the cigarette substitute thus primed, it is sufficient to suck the air through the mouthpiece (1a) to cause the start of the internal heating means (6). During the first use, the contactor (4) closes causing both the start of the heating element (6), but also the filament filament of the light means (9) and, where appropriate, the start of the resistor on the tank causing the release of its contents which is then absorbed by the buffer (7). The air sucked in while passing through the luminous means, passes through the buffer (7) by loading the agents of taste and / or smell, then this rich air passes through the heating element (6) where it heats up. It then passes through the holes of the switch disc (4) and those of the speed regulator (3) before passing through the filter (2) and reaching the smoker's mouth.

When the suction stops, the switch (4) reopens under the effect of the spring, or if the contactor is double one of the contactors opens the other remaining closed. Due to the opening of the contactor (4) or one of the contactors, a portion of the heating element ceases to be fed, as well as at least a portion of the filaments of the light means (9), while the the other part of the heating element (6) and, if appropriate, light means (9) remain powered by the second contactor which remains closed or by an electronic control circuit. Thus, the air contained in the tubular element remains hot, without overheating and the end simulating the combustion remains slightly incandescent. The next suction causes again the total closure of the contactor (4) and thus the powering of all of the heating element and all the filaments of the light means.

There is therefore a very great similarity in the use and appearance between the cigarette substitute of the invention and a real cigarette. The smoker keeps the ritual and sensations of warmth and taste / smell that he had with a real cigarette without having the disadvantages.

The trigger device according to the invention can be applied to all known cigarette substitutes of the state of the art, the inventive principle being to require a priming with a lighter or a match before the substitute can not be used.
