Definitions
- the invention relates to a multilayer self-venting packaging film for a food to be heated in its packaging with at least one venting valve in the form of a weak zone, formed by introduced into the film, these only partially severing slots.
- multilayer self-venting packaging films For foodstuffs contained in a package, for example in a tray or the like, to be sealed in the package and nevertheless to remain in the unopened package for heating the food, multilayer self-venting packaging films have been developed.
- the self-venting serves the purpose that the resulting within the packaging warming-related internal pressure does not exceed a certain size.
- packaging films in which vent valves are used as independent representational units, packaging films are also known, which have weaknesses to achieve such a vent. At a certain internal pressure and thereby acting on the film as a result of their elongation tensile pull the film on the weak zones.
- Such a packaging film is made, for example WO 2006/034737 A1 or WO 2005/007400 A2 known.
- the self-venting packaging films disclosed in these documents are constructed in two layers.
- the outer film layer for example, a biaxially oriented polyamide or polyester.
- the opposite to the packaging inner film layer is formed as a sealing layer and consists of polypropylene or polyethylene.
- the sealability of this layer is used to connect the packaging film with the packaging, for example, the edge of a shell or the like.
- a slot is introduced into the outer protective film layer, which only cuts through the protective film layer.
- the packaging film is then closed only by the inner film layer.
- the inner film layer with sealable material properties has a certain elasticity.
- the internal pressure increases as a result of the heating process inside the packaging so that the packaging film is subjected to stretching.
- the packaging film expands until the inner film layer breaks and air escapes from the interior of the packaging, whereby the internal pressure generated in the packaging is reduced.
- Packages sealed with such packaging films are typically heated in the microwave. The internal pressure occurring inside the packaging when cooking the food accelerates the cooking process. In addition, important nutrients and / or vitamins are retained.
- the geometry of the introduced into the protective film layer slots of the prior art packaging films are straight, curved, sinusoidal or may have a zigzag pattern.
- the previously known packaging films depending on the geometry of the packaging oriented with respect to their slots with the packaging, such as a shell to be connected.
- the geometry of the slots forming a vent valve must be adapted accordingly for each different packaging tray. Even if you do this, the tolerance range of the internal pressure necessary to open the packaging film is considered too large.
- the inner film layer is set relatively stretchable. This has the consequence that the film thinned upon application of a tensile stress by increasing the internal pressure within the package greatly before it tears at individual points.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of developing an aforementioned multilayer, self-venting packaging film such that an opening of the vent or in a narrower tolerance range, without the disadvantages indicated in the prior art would have to be accepted ,
- the at least one vent valve is formed by a plurality of uniaxially curved and / or angularly shaped slot segments, which slot segments to form a ring structure with the inside of their curvature or their or their angle with respect to the ring structure formed by the slot segments are arranged facing outward.
- the vent valves are formed by a plurality of slot segments located in a defined arrangement with respect to one another, which are to be addressed as arc segments, for example.
- the slot segments are arranged in spatial proximity to each other and constitute a zone of weakness.
- the slot segments may also be formed by angle segments.
- the side bordered in each case by the curvature or the angle of the slot segments, which represents the inside of the curvature or of the angle, are arranged facing outward.
- the individual slot segments do not merge into one another, but are spaced apart while maintaining a small distance.
- the intersection of the two merged slotted segment branches constitutes a location of preferential rupture.
- a vent valve is completely independent of direction to arrange the maximum tensile load or may have a predetermined expected Switzerlandbelastungsraum with a sufficiently large tolerance range, so that an intended tearing of the weak zone in the presence of one before this internal pressure.
- the foil carrying these venting valves can be more or less arranged independently of the geometry of the package to be sealed, such as a tray, without this changing the conditions leading to tearing lead the film. Therefore, such a packaging film is much more accurate in terms of the internal pressure to be built in the package adjustable.
- the slot segment by arc segments are formed, the mutually guided ends of at least two adjacent arc segments from each other.
- the individual arc segments of such a vent valve are all equal or approximately equal according to an embodiment, with respect to their radius and their length.
- the arc segments of such a vent valve need not necessarily have a continuous constant radius. This is the case in one embodiment.
- An arc segment can also be composed of a plurality of radii, wherein preferably an arc segment is designed mirror-symmetrically to its center plane.
- the slot segments are formed by two slot segment branches which are arranged at an angle to one another and which are brought together in the region of their point of intersection.
- a vent opening formed by a plurality of slit segments of this type arranged in a ring structure, opens more sensitively, so that the inner film can be provided with a sealing layer, which also permits removal of the packaging film from a container, for example a shell. It is believed that for the higher opening sensitivity and thus the setting of the opening pressure in a narrow tolerance range, which may also be dependent on the temperature, the provision of the angle tips of the individual slot segments are responsible.
- the packaging film is constructed in two layers. Nevertheless, the invention can also be realized in those packaging films which are constructed more than two layers.
- a packaging 1 for a food 2 comprises a shell 3, which has on the upper side an outwardly flanged edge 4.
- the shell 3 is in the illustrated embodiment of polypropylene (PP).
- the shell 3 is closed on the upper side by a packaging film 5.
- the packaging film 5 has a lower sealing layer, which is connected under the action of heat with the upper side of the edge 4 of the shell 3.
- the packaging 1 also serves the food 2 as a cooking container, without the packaging film 5 having to be removed before heating.
- the package 1 is particularly suitable for heating the food 2 in a microwave. Rather, the food 2 contained in the packaging 1 is to be left unopened in the cooking container during the cooking process, since then the internal pressure building up in the course of the heating has a favorable effect on the cooking process.
- the packaging film 5 has a plurality of vent valves 6 (see. FIG. 2 ).
- the vent valves 6 are arranged following a predetermined pattern on the packaging film 5.
- Each vent valve 6 of the illustrated embodiment consists of four formed as arc segments B 1 - B 4 slot segments, as this example using a vent valve 6 in FIG. 3 is shown.
- the arc segments B 1 - B 4 are as in FIG. 3 recognizable, arranged to form a ring structure to each other.
- the virtual lateral surface of the ring structure is represented by the ends of the arc segments B 1 -B 4 .
- the inner sides enclosed by the curved sections B 1 - B 4 are arranged facing outwards; Consequently, the convex sides of the arc segments B 1 - B 4 are arranged facing each other.
- the individual arc segments B 1 -B 4 of the venting valve 6 are all constructed the same in the embodiment shown in the figures.
- Each arc segment B 1 -B 4 consists of a curved, introduced into the packaging film 5 slot with a constant radius.
- the introduced for forming the sheet segments B 1 - B 4 in the packaging film 5 slots do not pass through the packaging film 5, but only the outer protective film layer 7, as from FIG. 4 seen.
- FIG. 4 shows that the packaging film 5 used in the illustrated embodiment is a two-ply film - a duplex film.
- the outer protective film layer 7 forms the actual protection of the food contained in the package 2.
- the lower film layer which is formed as a sealing layer, serves to connect the packaging film 1 with the edge 4 of the shell 3.
- the lower film layer 8 serves to close the the sheet segments B 1 - B 4 forming slots of the vent valves 6.
- the protective film layer 7 is a film of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
- PET polyethylene terephthalate
- the sealing layer 8 consists in the illustrated embodiment of polypropylene (PP).
- PP polypropylene
- the film layers 7, 8 other materials can be used, which meet the desired purposes. As a sealing layer you will use such a material, which can be sealed depending on the material of the example to be closed shell with this.
- the slots for forming the arc segments B 1 -B 4 of a vent valve are preferably introduced with a laser in the packaging film. In the illustrated embodiment, the width of a Slot of an arc segment B 1 - B 4 about 0.5 - 0.8 mm.
- each arc segment B 1 - B 4 extends over about 90 °.
- the mutually guided ends of each sheet segment B 1 - B 4 are spaced apart.
- the distance between the ends of adjacent arc segments from each other is about twice the slot width.
- the diagonal extension of the vent valves 6 is about 20 mm.
- FIG. 5 shows the package 1 with the food 2 therein with unopened packaging film 5 during a cooking process.
- the packaging film 5 bulges, as in FIG. 5 indicated, outward.
- a certain internal pressure is needed.
- the packaging film 5 is therefore designed such that when a certain internal pressure is exceeded, the or at least some of the venting valves 6 open in order to prevent a further increase in internal pressure.
- An applied maximum tensile load is in FIG. 6a exemplified by the block arrows.
- the vent valve 6 opens when a certain tensile load, which in turn corresponds to a certain internal pressure at the locations of those arc segments B 1 - B 4 , which are arranged at right angles or approximately at right angles to the applied tensile load. At these points the notch effect is greatest or the tensile load acting on the sealing layer in this section is greatest.
- the tension load valve 6, which is shown by way of example, opens the venting valve 6 at the tear points indicated by the reference symbol E. At these points E, the vent valve 6 begins to open. Due to the arcuate design of the slots, the arc segments B 1 - B 4 will rupture only in a narrow portion of each arc segment. The smaller the radius of curvature of an arc segment, the shorter is that portion within an arc segment in which the sealing layer 8 ruptures when a corresponding internal pressure for discharging vapor pressure generated within the packaging 1 occurs.
- FIG. 6b shows the vent 6 of the FIG. 6a with another direction of the applied tensile load. According to the changed Buchlastcardi the tear points E are now shifted accordingly.
- the comparison of the representation of Figures 6a and 6b makes it clear that the packaging film 5 can be used largely independent of their orientation for closing the shell 3.
- vent valves 6 are each composed of four arc segments.
- the arc segments in terms of their extension and their radius is important to ensure that in the expected Hauptzugbelastungsraum at least a portion of an arc segment of a vent valve is arranged perpendicular to the Buchlastraum.
- FIG. 7 shows an enlarged plan view of a section of another packaging film 5 'with a vent valve 6'.
- the slit segments S 1 -S 6 are identical.
- Each slot segment S 1 -S 6 is made up of two slot segment branches 9, 10 running at an angle to each other, as for the slot segment S 1 in FIG. 7 marked, formed.
- the slot segment branches 9, 10 are of different lengths.
- the Schlitzsegmentast 9 is longer than the Schlitzsegmentast 10.
- the Schlitzsegmentugge 9, 10 are arranged at an angle to each other and include in the illustrated embodiment, in each case an angle of 120 °.
- the longitudinal extent of the slot segment branch 9 extends in the direction of the lateral surface of the ring structure formed by the arrangement of the slot segments S 1 -S 6 .
- the shorter slot segment load 10 is arranged projecting outward in the radial direction from this virtual lateral surface.
- the slot segment branches 9, 10 are brought together to form a tip 11.
- the individual slot segments S 1 -S 6 are spaced apart. Consequently, in the region of the spacing of the individual slot segments S 1 -S 6 from one another, the protective film layer of the packaging film 5 'is not severed.
- the slit segments S 1 - S 6 or single of the slit segments S 1 - S 6 at Rupture concerns a tensile load at its respective tip 11 for pressure relief. It is believed that this is due to the notch effect caused by the formation of the tips.
- the packaging film 5 ' is also formed as the packaging film 5 as a duplex film and has an upper protective film layer, in which the slot segments S 1 - S 6 are introduced by lasers.
- the lower film layer of the packaging film 5 ' is sealable and has material properties that the packaging film 5' can be readily removed from a container or even from a film.
- the width of the slots for forming the arc segments should not exceed a certain maximum width against the background that with increasing slot width, the location of the tearing of the sealing layer in the direction of the width of a slot, the cracking can be controlled less well. Therefore, a slot width of less than 1.0 mm is considered appropriate. If the vent valves can be opened in a slightly larger tolerance range, a larger slot width can also be used.
- a shell can be closed as a container for receiving a foodstuff.
- the entire bag may consist of such a packaging film or else only one side of the bag or a portion of the bag from the self-venting packaging film.
- the sealing layer is the one layer in which the material-related slots can be better introduced by laser.
- the slots of the vents are located on the food-facing side and thus on the inside of the packaging film.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a multilayer self-venting packaging film for a food to be heated in its packaging with at least one venting valve in the form of a weak zone, formed by introduced into the film, these only partially severing slots.
The geometry of the introduced into the protective film layer slots of the prior art packaging films are straight, curved, sinusoidal or may have a zigzag pattern. For a particular cooking process to proceed as intended, it is necessary to control the internal pressure as much as possible. This means that the or the vent valves open upon reaching a predetermined internal pressure and not already open when the desired internal pressure has not yet built up, or open only when the desired internal pressure has already been exceeded. In order to meet this requirement as far as possible, the previously known packaging films, depending on the geometry of the packaging oriented with respect to their slots with the packaging, such as a shell to be connected. Due to the large number of different geometries of packaging, in particular packaging trays, therefore, the geometry of the slots forming a vent valve must be adapted accordingly for each different packaging tray. Even if you do this, the tolerance range of the internal pressure necessary to open the packaging film is considered too large. To compensate for a dimensionally accurate orientation when applying the self-venting packaging film on the actual packaging, the inner film layer is set relatively stretchable. This has the consequence that the film thinned upon application of a tensile stress by increasing the internal pressure within the package greatly before it tears at individual points. This can create threads or the like, which tear off from the inner layer of film, especially if after completion of the cooking process after degradation of the internal pressure, the stretched packaging film falls inside in the packaging and possibly on the located therein, cooked food is present. When removing the packaging film to open the packaging and to remove the food such threads or other film residues can adhere to the food.
Based on this discussed prior art, the invention is therefore based on the object of developing an aforementioned multilayer, self-venting packaging film such that an opening of the vent or in a narrower tolerance range, without the disadvantages indicated in the prior art would have to be accepted ,
This object is achieved by an initially mentioned, generic packaging film in which the at least one vent valve is formed by a plurality of uniaxially curved and / or angularly shaped slot segments, which slot segments to form a ring structure with the inside of their curvature or their or their angle with respect to the ring structure formed by the slot segments are arranged facing outward.
In this packaging film, the vent valves are formed by a plurality of slot segments located in a defined arrangement with respect to one another, which are to be addressed as arc segments, for example. The slot segments are arranged in spatial proximity to each other and constitute a zone of weakness. Instead of arc segments having a continuous curvature, the slot segments may also be formed by angle segments. In order to form the ring structure, it is provided that the side bordered in each case by the curvature or the angle of the slot segments, which represents the inside of the curvature or of the angle, are arranged facing outward. According to a preferred embodiment, the individual slot segments do not merge into one another, but are spaced apart while maintaining a small distance. It is also possible to merge individual slot segments and to provide a spacing only between other slot segments. The arrangement and design of the slit segments has the consequence that, regardless of the direction of the maximum tensile load of the packaging film in the construction of an internal pressure in the course of the cooking process at least one slot segment portion of such a vent valve is arranged at a relatively large angle, preferably at right angles or approximately at right angles to the direction of the applied maximum tensile load. In this slot segment section, the notch effect caused by the application of a tensile load is greatest, so that the packaging film tears at these points of the arc segments when a predetermined tensile load acting on the packaging film is exceeded. In providing slit segment angles, preferably formed of two slotted segment branches at an angle, the intersection of the two merged slotted segment branches constitutes a location of preferential rupture. Depending on the degree of angularity of the slit segments, such a vent valve is completely independent of direction to arrange the maximum tensile load or may have a predetermined expected Zugbelastungsrichtung with a sufficiently large tolerance range, so that an intended tearing of the weak zone in the presence of one before this internal pressure. Because of the plurality of slit segments each constituting a venting valve, the foil carrying these venting valves can be more or less arranged independently of the geometry of the package to be sealed, such as a tray, without this changing the conditions leading to tearing lead the film. Therefore, such a packaging film is much more accurate in terms of the internal pressure to be built in the package adjustable.
Whereas in the case of previously known packaging films a relatively soft, elastic lower film layer is used to compensate for tensile stress acting on the or the slots of a venting valve from different directions, this is not necessary with the packaging film according to the invention. Rather, it is preferable to use in this packaging film, a lower film layer with sealable material properties, which has only a relatively low elasticity. For this reason too, a predetermined internal pressure within the packaging during cooking of the foodstuff contained therein can be set much more accurately with this packaging film.
According to an exemplary embodiment, in which the slot segment by arc segments are formed, the mutually guided ends of at least two adjacent arc segments from each other. This has the consequence that the sheet segment bounded by the sheet segments remains part of the film even when tearing the packaging film along all arc segments of a vent valve and is not separated from this. The individual arc segments of such a vent valve are all equal or approximately equal according to an embodiment, with respect to their radius and their length. The arc segments of such a vent valve need not necessarily have a continuous constant radius. This is the case in one embodiment. An arc segment can also be composed of a plurality of radii, wherein preferably an arc segment is designed mirror-symmetrically to its center plane.
According to a further embodiment, it is provided that the slot segments are formed by two slot segment branches which are arranged at an angle to one another and which are brought together in the region of their point of intersection. A vent opening, formed by a plurality of slit segments of this type arranged in a ring structure, opens more sensitively, so that the inner film can be provided with a sealing layer, which also permits removal of the packaging film from a container, for example a shell. It is believed that for the higher opening sensitivity and thus the setting of the opening pressure in a narrow tolerance range, which may also be dependent on the temperature, the provision of the angle tips of the individual slot segments are responsible.
According to a preferred embodiment, the packaging film is constructed in two layers. Nevertheless, the invention can also be realized in those packaging films which are constructed more than two layers.

In the figures, an embodiment of a packaging film has been described, in which the
The packaging film 5 'is also formed as the
The width of the slots for forming the arc segments should not exceed a certain maximum width against the background that with increasing slot width, the location of the tearing of the sealing layer in the direction of the width of a slot, the cracking can be controlled less well. Therefore, a slot width of less than 1.0 mm is considered appropriate. If the vent valves can be opened in a slightly larger tolerance range, a larger slot width can also be used.
In the figures it has been described by way of exemplary embodiments that with the multilayer self-venting packaging film, a shell can be closed as a container for receiving a foodstuff. Likewise, it is possible to produce a bag from the packaging film, in which case the entire bag may consist of such a packaging film or else only one side of the bag or a portion of the bag from the self-venting packaging film.
Depending on the one used by that for the construction of the packaging film Material and the food storage container to be sealed, for example, the shell, it may happen that the sealing layer is the one layer in which the material-related slots can be better introduced by laser. In such a case, the slots of the vents are located on the food-facing side and thus on the inside of the packaging film.
