Definitions
- Acoustic beeps support the hearing aid wearer in many ways. In particular, they help the hearing aid wearer to select the right program. In principle, there is the problem that the acoustic signal tones are to be heard well adapted to the particular situation, i. on the one hand should not be too loud in quiet situations, on the other hand should not be too quiet in loud situations.
- One possible solution is a controller that calculates the level of the acoustic signals as a function of the ambient volume, ie the level of the input signal of the hearing aid.
- the acoustic signals can be played quietly in quiet situations and readjusted accordingly in noisy environment, ie amplified.
- the invention is based on the finding that the acoustic signals in this solution could nevertheless not be heard if the overall level of the environment is indeed in the average range, but the level lying in the frequency range of the acoustic audio signals is relatively high.
- acoustic signals with a sinusoidal character eg, so-called beeps
- the publication EP 1 553 803 A2 shows a hearing aid with a warning signal generator. For better audibility the warning signal is raised in volume or the normal signal is lowered (also fade out, etc.). A similar system is from the document DE 10 040 660 known. From the publication WO 2004 088 888 A For example, a warning signal generator is known in which a frequency shift of the warning signal tone takes place without comparison with the normal signal for improving the audibility for a hearing impaired person.
- the input signal of the hearing aid is then analyzed as to whether the level of the input signal in a (frequency) band region in which there is also an acoustic signal exceeds a certain threshold value. If, as a result of this analysis, a specified exceeding of the threshold value is detected, then the acoustic signal is shifted in frequency upwards or downwards and thus into an area with less ambient noise. In this area, the hearing threshold is lower and the acoustic signal is thus heard easier at the same gain.
- the method according to the invention can also be used in conjunction with the abovementioned method for determining the amplification of an acoustic signal. In this case, the overall level of the input signal can be used to calculate the amplification of an acoustic signal and the inventive method for determining the necessity of a frequency shift of the acoustic signal.
- the invention comprises a measuring device ME, a comparison device VG and a frequency shifting device FG.
- the measuring device ME is used to determine a frequency band-related level maximum of the input signal of the hearing aid.
- the comparator VG now compares on the one hand the frequency range of the maximum, with that of the acoustic signals. If both are in the same range, it is further compared whether the maximum differs by one threshold from the level, and in the other bands. If this is the case, will be shifted by the shift means VG the acoustic signals in frequency in a band in which they are not masked.
