Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a reset device for a timepiece, in particular for a chronograph.
  • resetting devices have several disadvantages. They are particularly relatively bulky because the race of the one-piece piece must be large enough to allow the hammers to be out of the way of the cams in the rest position and come to rest on the cams during the reset. In addition, due to manufacturing tolerances, the resetting of minute and / or hour hands generally lacks precision, hammers can not hit the three cams perfectly accurately. Finally, the hammers exert on the cams of resetting of the pressures which can be very strong, which can damage or even break the axes of the needles.
  • CH 249 420 discloses a reset device comprising a pusher which actuates a lever which itself actuates a hammer acting on two heart-shaped reset cams.
  • the present invention aims to remedy, in part at least, the aforementioned drawbacks.
  • a resetting device for a timepiece as defined in appended claim 1
  • Particular embodiments of the invention are defined in dependent claims 2 to 8, 10 to 12 and 14.
  • FIG. appended represents a resetting device according to a particular embodiment of the invention.
  • a device 1 reset chronograph according to the invention comprises a push button, shown schematically in 2, operable by a user, a lever 3 controlled by the push button 2, a sliding control member 4 controlled by the lever 3, pivoting hammers 5 controlled by the sliding member 4 and 6 heart-shaped reset cams actuated by the hammers 5 respectively.
  • the lever 3 can assume a rest position shown in dashed lines and a reset position shown in solid lines.
  • the lever 3 is subjected to the action of a return spring 7 which opposes the action of the push button 2.
  • the lever 3 comprises, at one of its ends, two pins 8, 9 between which is interposed with a certain clearance one end 10 of the sliding member 4. In the rest position of the lever 3, the pin 9 is in abutment against the end 10 of the sliding member 4.
  • the sliding member 4 comprises oblong openings 11 which cooperate with fixed guide pins 12 to allow the member 4 to slide in translation in the direction of the oblong openings 11 between a rest position shown in dashed lines and a position of reset shown in solid lines.
  • the sliding member 4 is subjected to the action of an all-or-nothing spring 13, called a reset jumper.
  • the end 14 of this reset jumper 13 abuts in a corner 15 defined by the slice of the sliding member 4 when the latter is in the rest position, and bears against an inclined plane 16 of this slice when the sliding member 4 is in its reset position.
  • This jumper 13 could nevertheless, alternatively, be deleted.
  • the reset cams 6 have the shape of a core and are respectively mounted on the needle pins of chronograph, namely a seconds counter hand, a minute counter hand and an hour counter hand (not shown).
  • the axes or pivots 17 of the hammers 5, such as the pivot 18 of the lever 3 and the pins 12, are mounted on a fixed part of the chronograph, such as the barrel bridge.
  • the pivots 17 of the hammers 5 are thus independent of the sliding member 4, that is to say that they remain fixed in translation when the sliding member 4 is moved in one direction or the other.
  • Each hammer 5 comprises, on one side of its pivot 17, a first arm 18, and on the other side of its pivot 17, second and third arms 19, 20.
  • the first and third arms 18, 20 are rigid.
  • the second arm 19 is elastic.
  • the first arm 18 is articulated by its end to the sliding member 4 by means of a pin 21 driven into said end and which cooperates with a larger hole formed in the sliding member 4.
  • the reverse is of course also possible, namely that the pin 21 could be driven into the sliding member 4 and cooperate with a larger hole formed in the arm 18.
  • This articulation between the first arm 18 and the sliding member 4 allows the sliding member 4 to pivot the hammer 5 around its pivot 17 between a rest position where the hammer 5 is outside the path of the corresponding cam 6 and a reset position where the percussion face of the hammer, referenced 22 is resting on the shoulder 23 of the cam 6.
  • each hammer 5 intended to cooperate with the corresponding cam 6 is defined by the rigid end of the second arm 19. In known manner, this face 22 is inclined with respect to the line passing through the respective pivots. 17, 24 of the hammer 5 and the cam 6 when the hammer 5 and the cam 6 are in their reset position where the face 22 bears on the shoulder 23 of the cam 6.
  • the end 25 of the third arm 20 is free. This end serves as an abutment against which can abut the face 26 of the end of the second arm 19 opposite to the impact face 22 to limit the deflection of the second arm 19, in particular in cases where, during the reset movement of the hammer 5, the impact face 22 comes into contact with the tip 27 of the cam 6.
  • the distance or lever arm d1 between the pivot 17 and the pivot point to the sliding member 4, more precisely between the center of the pivot 17 and the center of the hinge pin 21 is shorter than the distance or lever arm d2 between the pivot 17 and the percussion face 22, more precisely between the center of the pivot 17 and the center of the percussion face 22.
  • the reset device 1 also cooperates with a vertical clutch 30 of the chronograph, clutch which allows, in a manner known per se, the start or the stop of the chronograph under the action of a second push button (not shown) separate from the push button 2.
  • This clutch 30 comprises a column wheel 31 actuable by the second push button, two clamps 32, 33, one of which 32 controls the other 33 and cooperates with the column wheel 31 by a spout 34, and two superimposed said lower wheels 35 and upper 36 separated by a cone (not shown) on which act the clamps 32, 33, the lower wheel 35 being continuously driven by the watch movement of the chronograph, more specifically by the seconds wheel of the watch movement, the upper wheel 36 meshing with a chronograph wheel connected to the counter hands of seconds, minutes and hours.
  • the clamps 32, 33 are subjected to the action of a return spring (not shown) and can occupy an open position, when the spout 34 is in the space between two columns of the wheel 31, and a closed position, when the spout 34 is resting against a column of the wheel 31.
  • a return spring not shown
  • the upper wheel 36 is integral with the lower wheel 35 and thus drives the chronograph hands.
  • the cone is in a high position which disengages the upper wheel 36 from the lower wheel 35 and the chronograph is thus stopped.
  • the clamp 32 having the spout 34 can be controlled not only by the column wheel 31 but also by the lever 3.
  • one end of the lever 3 other than the one carrying the two pins 8, 9 is equipped with a third pin 37 and the clamp 32 has a recess 38 and a spout 39.
  • the pin 37 is placed in the recess 38, close to the wall of the latter, and not does not hinder the possible movements of the clamps 32, 33 controlled by the column wheel 31.
  • the pin 37 cooperates successively with a portion 40 of the wall of the recess 38 and with the spout 39 to close progressively clamps 32, 33, or comes directly cooperate with the spout 39 to maintain the clamps 32, 33 closed, depending on the position of the spout 34 relative to the column wheel 31.
  • the reset by the device according to the invention is carried out as follows.
  • the push button 2 pivots the lever 3 from its rest position (dashed lines) to its reset position (solid lines).
  • the sliding member 4 remains in the rest position because of the clearance existing between the pin 8 and the end 10 of the sliding member 4, while the pin 37 of the lever 3 is slid on the wall portion 40 of the recess 38 of the clamp 32 to gradually close the clamps 32, 33, if they are not already closed by the cooperation of the spout 34 with the column wheel 31, and thus stop the chronograph.
  • the pin 37 is returned to its initial position in the recess 38, which automatically restarts the chronograph or allows its restart via the second push button depending on the position of the spout 34 relative to the wheel with columns 31, and the pin 9 of the lever 3 pushes the end 10 of the sliding member 4 to bring the sliding member 4 and with it the hammers 5 in their rest position.
  • the reset device according to the invention offers great flexibility in the choice of the arrangement of the various elements, including hammers 5, which facilitates its integration into an additional movement or mechanism and reduces overall clutter. More particularly, the size of the resetting device according to the invention can be significantly reduced by acting on the lever arms of the hammers 5, namely, as in the example illustrated, by choosing a smaller lever arm that the lever arm d2. Indeed, in this way, a small stroke of the sliding member 4 is sufficient to obtain a sufficiently large stroke of the percussion face 22 of the hammers 5 so that this face 22 is outside the path of the cams 6 in the rest position hammers 5.
  • the device according to the invention allows a precise restart of said hands after the reset and avoids that the second wheel of the watch movement does not fall back by catching the games gearing under the effect of the friction of the clutch 30 during the reset, recoil that would have the effect of making a jump forward to the chronograph second hand after the reset.
  • the present invention finds particular application in resetting chronograph hands, it is not limited to such an application.
  • the present invention can indeed be applied to any timepiece in which it is desired to reset one or more needles.
