Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device for adjusting the tension of a fixed with a first end to a mounting block and a second end to a further attachment side of a stringed instrument.
- this is the string of a stringed instrument with one of its two ends rigidly fixed, the second end of the string runs on a spindle or a similar element and can be relaxed or relaxed by winding or unwinding to get the right tuning of the string.
- the stringed instrument should also be able to be automatically tuned, ie by means of a control that controls a drive for changing the string tension by comparing a detected actual tone of the struck string in comparison thereof with a desired tone
- a control that controls a drive for changing the string tension by comparing a detected actual tone of the struck string in comparison thereof with a desired tone
- tuners or the vertebrae for tensioning or relaxing the strings on the so-called head of the instrument and thus a comparatively small part of the same.
- the peculiarity of the novel method for adjusting the tension of a string of a stringed instrument or the device according to the invention is that no mechanism is used for winding up the string, but instead is operated with a pressurized pressure medium, for example a fluid.
- This pressure means engages a holding portion on which a first end of the string is applied, and moves this holding portion and thus the fixed end of the string in a mounting block so that the tension of the string changes.
- a pressure medium preferably a fluid, in particular a hydraulic fluid
- a pressure reservoir in order to set the tension of the string in a pressure-controlled and precise manner.
- Such a procedure is particularly well suited for use in a device for automatic tuning of a stringed instrument, such as a guitar, wherein a supply or discharge of pressure medium for increasing or decreasing the string tension of a control depending on the deviation of the frequency of the string actually generated tones are driven by a predetermined frequency of a target sound.
- the sleeve used according to the invention results in interaction with the bore in which they are used is a similar effect as a piston in a cylinder, so that it can be moved by means of the pressure medium or when relaxing by means of the string tension in a simple manner in the bore in the block and so the string tensioned or relaxed.
- This solution is particularly suitable for guitars, especially for electric guitars as well as for electric basses.
- the strings are fixed to the body of the instrument with one end in a mounting block, in the case of electric guitars sometimes in a tremolo system block.
- Such a block usually has holes anyway, in which the strings are guided with one end, usually under a deflection of about 90 °.
- a conventional block can easily be replaced by a block equipped with the sleeves according to the invention and provided with correspondingly enlarged holes, without the instrument undergoing any serious change.
- the possibility of an "automatic" string adjustment is created in a simple manner, without significantly changing the instrument itself.
- the development specified in claim 4 serves to facilitate the setting of the string ends in the sleeve.
- the strings typically have thickenings, so-called “ball ends", at their end fixed to the body. With these, the string ends can then be fixed in the extended portion of the guided in the sleeve bore.
- the sleeve as stated in claim 5, made of a piezoelectric ceramic material, it can be used advantageously as a pickup at the same time. With it, the vibrations of the string lying there can be detected and by the piezoelectric property of the ceramic be converted into electrical signals. These electrical signals can then be either amplified directly and used as acoustic signals, but they can also act as control signals to control, for example, midi functions. Finally, these signals can also be used to provide a claimed in claim 6 device for automatically tuning a stringed instrument with information about the currently detected frequency of the vibrating string, which information then the comparison with the desired frequency and finally the calculation of the other required Tension or relaxation of the string is used.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 generally an electric guitar 1 shown. This can be roughly divided into a body 2, a neck 3 and a head 4. On the body 2 is attached as a mounting block in this electric guitar 1, a tremolo system block 5, which contains the present invention and will therefore be described in more detail later.
- the strings extend 6a to 6f, which accumulate on the head 4 on vertebrae 7, wherein the vertebrae 7 can be adjusted via wings 8.
- a pick-guard 9 is arranged on the body 2 of the electric guitar 1.
- Fig. 2 enlarged body 2 of the electric guitar 1 is shown.
- a control chip 10 to be explained in more detail later as well as pickups 12 (so-called pickups) can be recognized.
- lines 14 can be seen, via which the control chip 10 is connected to the tremolo system block 5, which will be discussed in more detail later on this connection.
- FIGS. 3a to d is shown in various views of the tremolo system block 5 in more detail.
- This tremolo system block 5 contains the invention.
- Fig. 3a is the tremolo system block 5 in a three-dimensional view, in Fig. 3b in a plan view, in Fig. 3c in a sectional view along the section line AA Fig. 3b and in Fig. 3d in one along the section line BB Fig. 3d taken sectional view shown.
- the tremolo system block 5 has a total of six holes 11 in which the strings 6a to 6f can be set in a manner to be described later.
- the holes 11 have an in Fig. 3c below section, a diameter-expanded portion 11 a.
- sleeves 13 are arranged longitudinally displaceable.
- the sleeves 13 each have an enlarged head 13a.
- the outer diameter of the widened head 13a corresponds to the inner diameter of the portion 11a of the bore 11; the outer diameter of the remaining sleeve 13 corresponds to the diameter of the remaining bore 11.
- annular space 17 is formed between the transitions of the widened head 13a to the remaining sleeve 13 and the portion 11a of the bore 11 to the remaining bore 11.
- a supply line 18 in the form of a tap hole.
- a pressure medium in the preferred embodiment, a hydraulic fluid can be introduced into the annular space 17.
- an inner bore 19 is guided, which in the region of the widened head 13a of the sleeve 13 has an expanded inner diameter (section 19a).
- further sleeves 20, which are not relevant to the invention and are used from other aspects, can be seen, which are connected to the one shown in FIG Fig. 3c above section of the tremolo system block 5 sitting firmly in the holes 11.
- These sleeves serve to insulate the strings passed through the sleeves 13 from the metal material of the tremolo system block 5. This insulation is in certain applications required, especially if the strings 6a to 6f are to be used as electrical conductors.
- the strings sit 6a to 6f with a thickening at one end (the so-called ball end) in the extended portion 19a of the bore in the sleeve 13 fixed.
- the strings are then further passed through the bore 19 in the respective sleeve 13 and then out through the further, stationary sleeve 20 from the tremolo system block 5 out. There they will be over in Fig. 4 shown tab 21 and from there over the neck 3 to the head 4 of the electric guitar 1 out. There they run on the vortex 7.
- the sleeves 13 in the holes 11 of the tremolo system block 5 are held in position by hydraulic fluid in the annular space 17. The pressure of the hydraulic fluid exerted on the sleeve 13 is in equilibrium with the force exerted by the string or its tension.
- hydraulic fluid is used from a hydraulic fluid storage element which can readily be arranged in the body 2 of the guitar 1, in particular without changing the geometry or the material of the guitar, thus also without milling and other Materialausappelgeber.
- a hydraulic fluid storage element which can readily be arranged in the body 2 of the guitar 1, in particular without changing the geometry or the material of the guitar, thus also without milling and other Materialausappelgeber.
- it only needs a corresponding valve circuit, which is properly controlled for tensioning or relaxing the guitar strings.

Description

- Fig. 2

Fig. 1 undFig. 2 dargestellten Gitarre, - Fig. 4
- In
Fig. 2 gezeigte Steuerchip 10 verwendet.
- In
