Abstract

Shield straps (4) are interposed between the contact region (3) of a coating roller (2) and the surface of a web (1). An adjusting device (5) moves the straps in a direction perpendicular to the web running direction (D) so that the straps serially adjoin, space apart, or partly overlap with each other. At the adjoining positions, the straps block application of coating liquid from the roller to the web surface. The straps are also attached to installation clips (7).

Device for applying fluid media to a web, - having a job surface over which the web is guided, so that in the contact areas between application surface and web, the fluid medium can be applied to the web and wherein a plurality of cover is provided, which cover Cover covering areas on the application surface so that there is no contact between the material web and the application surface in these covering areas. In the context of the invention, fluid media means, in particular, liquid media and, in particular, lubricants, which are preferably applied to nonwovens or nonwoven webs. Avivagen means, for example wetting agents, especially surfactants and their mixtures, which are preferably applied in the form of solutions or emulsions on the web. The invention relates in particular to the strip-like application of the fluid media to a web.

A device of the type mentioned is basically known from practice. In this device, working with a rotating applicator roll over which the web is guided. On the applicator roll strip-shaped cover elements are arranged so that a strip-like application of the fluid media or the lubricant takes place on the web. At one from the document EP 0 997 576 A known device, it is also already known to move the cover to some extent to change the positioning of the strip-shaped job. If, however, the width of the covering area is to be changed, covering elements of different widths must be exchanged for one another in a relatively complex manner. These known devices are therefore characterized by a low flexibility or variability. Incidentally, the further processing of the web, in particular the thermal and / or mechanical and / or chemical processing of the web, influences the position and also the width of the application areas or application strips. The less flexible adjustment of the coverage areas to the respective requirements requires further disadvantages here.

In contrast, the invention addresses the technical problem of specifying a device of the type mentioned above, which is characterized by flexibility and variability and in particular the cover areas are easily and flexibly adjustable and which nonetheless is characterized by simplicity and reliability.

To solve this technical problem, the invention teaches a device for applying fluid media to a web, with an application surface over which application surface the web is guided so that the fluid medium can be applied to the web in the contact areas between application surface and web,
wherein a plurality of cover elements is provided, which cover elements cover areal coverage areas on the application area, so that no contact takes place between the material line and the application area in these coverage areas,
wherein the cover elements are displaceable on the application surface, wherein an adjusting device is provided which has a plurality of connection elements, wherein a cover element can be connected to each of these connection elements
and wherein the connection elements with the respectively connected cover elements are displaceable by means of the adjusting device with the proviso that at least two cover elements can be positioned directly adjacent or overlapping on the application surface.

As a web, a woven or a nonwoven web can be used. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the web is a nonwoven web or a nonwoven fabric, which consists in particular of filaments of thermoplastic material. In principle, however, the device according to the invention can also be used for applying the fluid medium to other webs. In the context of the invention, fluid media are to be understood as meaning, in particular, liquid media, in particular finishing agents or softening agents, which are applied to the material web for adjusting or changing the properties of the material web. As already explained above, these may be wetting agents, in particular surfactants and their mixtures, which are preferably applied in the form of solutions or emulsions. Fluid medium then means such a solution or emulsion. In principle, however, other fluid or liquid media can be applied to the web.

Conveniently, the bottom of the web is guided over the top of the application surface for applying the fluid medium. In this case, the fluid medium is applied in the contact regions between the material web and the application surface, while it is not applied in the regions of the application surface covered by the covering elements. In the contact areas, a continuous or continuous application or strip-like application of the fluid medium to the web takes place expediently. It is understood that the cover members are impermeable or substantially impermeable to the fluid medium. When guiding the material web over the application surface, these covering elements are located between the application surface and the material web, so that contact of the material web with the fluid medium in these regions can not take place.

The fact that the cover elements are positioned immediately adjacent means, in particular, that no gap or no gap is formed between the adjacent cover elements or that only a minimal gap exists between the adjacent cover elements. Minimum gap refers to a distance of less than 2 mm, preferably less than 1 mm and preferably less than 0.5 mm between the two adjacent cover elements. - In the overlapping arrangement of the cover elements, the cover elements involved are expediently arranged in sections one above the other.

According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the application surface is the surface of an applicator roll, which is expediently cylindrical. It is within the scope of the invention that the application roller rotates and that the roller preferably immersed in some areas in a container with the fluid or liquid medium. In this way, the application roller can be supplied continuously with the applied to the web fluid medium. It is also within the scope of the invention that the web is conveyed transversely or perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the applicator roll on the applicator roll or moved.

It has already been pointed out above that the very preferred embodiment of the invention relates to a device with which a strip-like application or a strip application of the fluid medium takes place on the material web. The web is moistened only in strip-shaped areas with the fluid medium or with the lubricant and the properties of the web are affected or changed only in these strip-shaped areas according to the effect of the fluid medium. In this preferred embodiment, the cover elements are designed as cover strips. Conveniently, the longitudinal extension of these cover strips is oriented transversely or perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the applicator roll. With the cover strips strip-shaped covering areas are covered, in which no contact of the application surface or applicator roll with the web takes place and in which consequently the fluid medium or the lubricant does not affect or change the web.

Abdeckstreifen also gleichsam übereinander geschoben werden. It is within the scope of the invention that the cover strips are displaceable and that they are expediently displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of this application roller in the case of the preferably provided applicator roller. According to the invention, the connection elements connected at least partially with cover strips are oriented or arranged in a special way for the displacement of the cover strips. It is within the scope of the invention that at least a portion of the connection elements in the adjustment are offset from each other with the proviso that at least a portion of these connection elements on at least part of their displacement path are collapsible past each other and movable during displacement of these staggered connection elements , In the preferred embodiment with the applicator roll, the connecting elements are displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the applicator roll. If two of these connection elements are moved past each other without collision and if cover strips are connected to both connection elements, an overlapping of these covering elements or covering strips takes place. In this collision-free displacement of connecting elements connected to the connection elements cover elements or cover strips can therefore be pushed so to speak one above the other.

It is within the scope of the invention that the adjusting device has independently adjustable linear adjusting units or adjusting rods, that at least one connecting element is connected to each adjusting rod and that the connecting element connected thereto is displaceable by actuation or adjustment of an adjusting rod. If at this Connection element is a cover or a cover strip is connected, is moved with the displacement of the connecting element and the cover or the cover strip over the application surface / applicator roll. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, only one connecting element is connected to an adjusting rod. The adjusting rods are expediently oriented parallel to one another and preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis of the applicator roll. According to a preferred embodiment, a plurality of adjusting rods in a plane, preferably arranged in a horizontal plane. It is within the scope of the invention that the adjusting rods are designed as adjusting spindles. Conveniently, an adjusting spindle is provided with an external thread and connected to this adjustment connecting element has a corresponding internal thread. By rotation of the adjusting spindle, the connecting element is then displaced on the associated adjusting spindle in the longitudinal direction of the adjusting spindle. The actuation of the adjusting rods / adjusting spindles can be done manually or automatically. With the described embodiment, a very precise guidance of the connection elements and thus also a very precise movement of the cover is ensured. - In principle, other embodiments of the adjusting device according to the invention are conceivable. For example, a plurality of adjusting rods could be provided, to which the connecting elements are fastened by clamping.

According to a very preferred embodiment of the invention, groups of adjusting rods are provided, and each group of adjusting rods is associated with at least one subregion of the application surface. According to this embodiment, therefore, a plurality of groups is provided, wherein each group is associated with a plurality of adjustment rods. Each group of adjusting rods with the connection elements respectively connected to the adjusting rods and possibly in turn connected cover elements is intended for the cover in at least a portion of the application surface / applicator roll. The connecting elements with the cover elements optionally connected thereto are preferably displaceable only in this subregion. In other words, the individual connection elements are assigned only a limited displacement path. In the case of the application roller which is preferably used, the application roller in this embodiment is expediently divided with regard to its longitudinal direction into a plurality of partial regions which are preferably of equal length. According to a preferred embodiment variant, each group of adjusting rods is arranged in one plane or in one horizontal plane. The plurality of groups of adjusting rods are then expediently arranged in superposed parallel planes or parallel horizontal planes. This results in a matrix of adjusting rods / adjusting spindles.

It is within the scope of the invention that cover elements are connected only to a part of the connection elements. In other words, according to this embodiment, more connection elements are present than cover elements / cover strips used during operation of the device. In this way, there are many possible variations and it is above all a targeted coverage of smaller areas of the application surface / applicator roll possible. A very preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the cover elements can be removed or decoupled from the connection elements as required and / or that the cover elements can be connected to free connection elements. The cover elements can be removed from their associated connection elements and then connected to other free connection elements. Of course, if necessary, additional cover elements can be connected to connection elements.

According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the cover / cover strips are each connected at one end to the adjustment or to connection elements of the adjustment. In other words, the cover / cover strip in this embodiment, a free end and are in this regard as it were loose on the application surface or applicator roll. In principle, however, the cover elements / cover strips could also be connected with both ends to the adjusting device or to connecting elements of the adjusting device.

The cover elements / cover strips are preferably made of plastic, preferably of fiber-reinforced or glass-fiber reinforced plastic and very preferably of Teflon-coated fiber-reinforced / glass-fiber reinforced plastic. In principle, the cover / cover strip but could also be made of sheet metal, for example.

The invention is based on the finding that with the device according to the invention a very flexible and variable adjustment of coverage areas on a web is possible. In particular, the width of a covering area, in contrast to the measures known from the prior art can be realized in a simple manner and great effort. This is possible according to the invention in that the cover elements or cover strips can be arranged in particular overlapping or also directly adjacent to the adjusting device according to the invention. As a result of the simple adjustment of the overlap amount which is made possible according to the invention, the width of the cover areas can be set continuously and precisely. In the adjusting device according to the invention a very precise guidance of the connection elements and the cover elements connected thereto is ensured. With the device according to the invention is a targeted independent adjustment of the positions and Widths of the Abdeckbereiche possible, even during operation of the device. Unwanted interruptions and conversion times do not have to be accepted. Incidentally, the negative influence of further processing steps on the position and width of the covering regions on the material web can be compensated for by the variable and precise adjustment of the covering regions. It should also be emphasized that the device according to the invention can be produced in a simple and cost-effective manner. Of particular importance is that even existing equipment - for example, for the production of nonwovens - can be retrofitted with the device according to the invention without any problems and without much effort.

The figures show a device according to the invention for the application of fluid media or of lubricant to a web, which is preferably and in the embodiment, a nonwoven web 1. The nonwoven web 1 is guided over an application surface of the device, which is formed in the embodiment of the surface of an applicator roll 2. The movement of the nonwoven web 1 over the applicator roll 2 is in Fig. 1 indicated by an arrow. The application roller 2 is cylindrical and rotates during operation of the device. In this case, the application roller 2 expediently with its lower portion in a container, not shown in the figures with the fluid medium. In this way, the application roller 2 is supplied as it were continuously with the fluid medium and the fluid medium can be applied due to the rotation of the applicator roller 2 on the guided over the applicator roller 2 nonwoven web 1. The application of the fluid medium takes place in the contact regions 3, in which the underside of the nonwoven web 1 has contact with the applicator roll 2.

The device according to the invention is equipped with a plurality of covering elements 4 designed as cover strips. In the Fig. 1 and 4 For the sake of simplicity, only two cover strips 4 have been shown. In principle, however, more cover strips 4 can also be connected to the device according to the invention (see, for example, FIG Fig. 5 ). The cover strips 4 cover coverage areas on the applicator roll 2, so that no contact between nonwoven web 1 and applicator roll 2 takes place in these coverage areas. In this way, no fluid medium is applied to strip-shaped areas of the nonwoven web 1. On the other hand, fluid medium is applied to the nonwoven web 1 in the strip-shaped contact regions 3 between the cover strips 4. So there is a so-called strip application of the fluid medium or the lubricant on the nonwoven web 1 instead.

The cover strips 4 are displaceable on the applicator roller 2 or relative to the applicator roller 2 in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the applicator roller 2, in both directions. That was in Fig. 1 indicated by a corresponding double arrow. There is provided an adjusting device 5 with a device housing 6. In the device housing 6 of the adjusting device 5, a plurality of connecting elements 7 is guided. At each of these connection elements 7 is basically a cover strip 4 can be connected. Normally, however, only one cover strip 4 is connected to only one part of the connection elements 7. The connection elements 7 are displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the application roller 2, so that the cover strips 4 connected thereto are correspondingly displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the application roller 2. Connecting elements 7 are offset in the adjusting device 5 with the proviso arranged to each other, that in particular adjacent offset from each other arranged connection elements 7 are collision-free past each other over a part of their displacement path. The connection elements 7 are guided in the exemplary embodiment in guide slots 8 of the device housing 6 ( Fig. 2 ). It can be seen that the guide slots 8 or displacement paths of adjacent mutually offset connection elements 7 partially overlap, so that the connection elements 7 can be guided past each other in a collision-free manner. If at two such adjacent connection elements 7, the displacement paths or guide slots 8 overlap, as it were, cover strips 4 are connected, an overlap of these cover strips 4 can be realized on the applicator roll 2. In this case, the overlapping dimension of these cover strips 4 can be adjusted variably and continuously by displacement of the connection elements 7. It is also possible that two or more cover strips 4 are arranged directly adjacent to each other or in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the applicator roll 2 directly to each other connect. These aforementioned adjustment possibilities for the cover strips 4 are in particular in the Fig. 5b and 5c been presented.

Preferably, and in the embodiment, the adjusting device 5 independently adjustable adjusting spindles 9. In the exemplary embodiment, a connecting element 7 is connected to each adjusting spindle 9. The adjusting spindles 9 have in the exemplary embodiment on an unspecified external thread and the connecting elements 7 are each equipped with a flange 10, which is encompassed by the respective associated adjusting spindle 9. The connection flange 10 has a corresponding internal thread. By rotation of an adjusting spindle 9, the connecting element 7 connected to this adjusting spindle 9 can thus be moved or displaced in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the application roller 2. A connected to a connection element 7 cover strip 4 is then moved accordingly in the longitudinal direction of the applicator roll 2. In the exemplary embodiment, the adjusting spindles 9 are otherwise arranged parallel to one another and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the application roller 2.

In the embodiment, three groups 11, 12, 13 are provided by adjusting spindles 9, wherein the groups 11, 12, 13 and the connected thereto connecting elements 7 subregions of the applicator roll 2 are assigned. Each group 11, 12, 13 of adjusting spindles 9 with connecting elements 7 connected thereto and possibly attached covering strips 4 is thus provided only for covers in a partial region of the application roller 2. For example, the lower group 13 of adjusting spindles 9 (see in particular Fig. 3 ) Responsible for covers in the outer left portion 14 of the applicator roll 2. To the adjusting spindle 9a, the connecting element 7a is connected and by actuation of the adjusting spindle 9a, the connecting element 7a within the associated guide slot 8 is displaceable. Accordingly, the adjusting spindle 9b is the lower one Group 13, the connecting element 7b connected and displaceable in the associated guide slot 8 upon actuation of this adjusting spindle 9b. In Fig. 2 it can be seen that the guide slots 8 of the connecting elements 7a and 7b partially overlap. Thus, the connection elements 7a and 7b can be moved past each other without collision and, for example, an overlap of cover strips 4 can be realized, which are connected to these connection elements 7a and 7b. The same applies to the connecting elements 7c and 7d, which are connected to the adjusting spindles 9c and 9d of the lower group 13 of adjusting spindles 9. In the exemplary embodiment, the adjusting spindles 9 of each group 11, 12, 13 are arranged in one plane or in one horizontal plane. Here we work with a 3x4 matrix of adjusting spindles.

If required, additional cover strips 4 can be connected to free connection elements 7 or cover strips 4 can be removed or decoupled from connection elements 7 and, for example, connected to other connection elements 7. Preferably, and in the exemplary embodiment, the cover strips 4 are connected at one end only to the adjusting device 5 or to the connecting elements 7 of the adjusting device 5. In other words, the cover strips 4 have a free end and lie with respect to this end quasi loosely on the applicator roll 2.

In the Fig. 5 three different functional positions of four connected to connecting elements 7 cover strip 4 are shown. In the functional state according to Fig. 5a all four cover strips 4 are spaced from each other. In other words, contact areas 3 are respectively provided between the cover strips 4 in which the fluid medium can be applied to the nonwoven web 1 by the application roller 2. In the functional position to Fig. 5b all four cover strips 4 are arranged directly next to each other Service. This results in a single relatively wide cover strip 4, the width of which results from the sum of the widths of the four cover strips 4. In the functional position according to Fig. 4c each two cover strips 4 have been arranged overlapping one another. The amount of overlap is different here for the two pairs of cover strips 4. By adjusting the amount of overlap, the width of the resulting cover area can be set continuously and variably.
