Definitions
- the present invention relates to a watch having time setting means and a calendar mechanism comprising a spring-loaded latch triggered once a day from a 24-hour wheel, which is driven by the movement of the latch. the watch to make a turn a day, the triggering of the rocker having the effect of advancing a mobile date milestones, for example with a star, in the calendar mechanism.
- the invention applies in particular, but not exclusively, to a so-called instantaneous date watch, in which the calendar mechanism comprises a spiral cam, integral with the 24-hour wheel and acting on the rocker to arm it gradually. during a day against the rocking spring, a pawl provided with a return spring tending to put it in a stop position in which the pawl holds the rocker in the cocked position against the rocking spring, and a trigger finger disposed on the 24-hour wheel to act at a specific time on the pawl so that it releases the rocker.
- Such an arrangement of the calendar mechanism has the advantage of advancing the calendar mobile instantaneously, for example every day around midnight thanks to the action of the 24-hour wheel, so that the date and calendar indicators give correct indications before midnight and after.
- Such mechanisms are well known and the reader will be able to find a description in the patent Swiss no. 1018 , for example.
- the 24-hour wheel can go through its midnight position and activate the calendar mechanism by incrementing the date and the day of the week, and if necessary the moon phase indicator.
- the user does not always want such an action that can be quite troublesome, especially by its cascading effects in a perpetual calendar mechanism, and in some cases he would prefer to adjust the date separately by means of the usual manual correctors, each acting on one of the calendar indicators.
- the subject of the present invention is a calendar watch of the type indicated in the preamble above, arranged so as to allow time setting without this operation modifying the state of the calendar mechanism.
- a watch according to the invention is characterized in that the calendar mechanism comprises locking means, having an active position in which they prevent a transmission of the movement of the 24-hour wheel to the mobile of the dates, and in that that the blocking means are set in the active position by the time setting means when they are put in the time setting position of the watch.
- the locking means are arranged to prevent the movement of the rocker under the effect of the flip-flop spring.
- the locking means may advantageously comprise a movable insulator which in its active position, rests against the pawl so as to prevent it from releasing the latch.
- the trigger finger installed on the 24-hour wheel is elastic, which allows it to yield when it rests in the midnight position against the pawl blocked by the insulator. The time setting is done without any difficulty.
- Watches having a calendar mechanism operated by a daily movement of a large rocker are well known and such a mechanism therefore does not need to to be described here.
- the calendar mechanism 1 which is here instantaneous actuation, comprises a large rocker 2 pivoted at 3 and permanently pushed by a spring 4 shown here schematically by an arrow, tending to rotate the rocker 2 around its pivot 3 in the direction indicated by the arrow A.
- the movement of the large rocker in the direction of A advances a step a star of the dates and a star of days.
- the daily back and forth of the large flip-flop 2 is controlled by a gear wheel 10 called a 24-hour wheel, which is engaged with the hour wheel of the movement of the watch, where appropriate via a return, to make a complete revolution per day in the direction indicated by the arrow B.
- the wheel 10 is provided with a spiral cam 11 and a trigger finger 12 which, in this example, is attached to the wheel 10 through a second cam 13 for controlling a day / night indicator.
- the level of the finger 12 is different from that of the cam 11.
- the toothing of the wheel 10 has been removed to clarify the drawing.
- the cam 11 has a peripheral surface 15 in the form of a spiral, against which the bent end 16 of a feeler 17 forming part of the rocker 2 lies sliding under the effect of the spring 4, so that the rotation of the cam 11 slowly pivots the rocker 2 in the opposite direction to A.
- This pivoting of the rocker has the effect of arming the spring 4 to the position shown in Figures 1 and 3.
- the surface 15 ends with a abrupt radial recess 18, the passage under the tip 16 releases the probe 17 at a predetermined time by the angular position of mounting of the cam 11 and the wheel 10 relative to the hour wheel. This moment is preferably a few minutes before midnight.
- the trigger finger 12 is intended to trigger the instantaneous return of the rocker 2 at a defined time more precisely than can the cam 11.
- a pawl 20 pivoting at 21 and biased by a spring in the direction of the arrow C so that a flank 22 of the pawl, in a position such as that of Figure 2, is against a spout 23 of the latch 2 until it has not yet reached its armed position .
- the effect of the spring advances the point 24 of the pawl 20 under an edge 25 of the latch as shown in Figure 3.
- the pawl is stopped in this position by a stop not shown.
- the pawl 20 still retains the rocker 2 in the armed position, as shown in Figure 4. It is only a few moments later, preferably just at midnight, that the end 27 of the trigger finger 12, bearing sliding against the rear arm 28 of the pawl, rotates it in the opposite direction to C. The tip 24 of the pawl then passes to the left of nose 23 and allows the rocker 2 to pivot sharply in the direction of A to the position of Figure 2A, 2B to rotate the star of the dates and, if necessary, perform any other daily function that it would be attributed to him.
- the time setting operation of the watch rotates the hour wheel with the hour hand and, therefore, also rotates the 24 hour wheel and the cam 11.
- the mechanism passes through the position midnight, the aforementioned triggering of the flip-flop 2 would occur, if the action of the triggering finger 12 was not inhibited by an insulator 30 intervening under the action of the means of setting the time 32.
- These include here in a conventional manner, a winding stem 33 which moves a rocker 34 when pulled to a time setting position.
- the insulator 30 has the shape of a lever mounted on a pivot 35 and having a short rear arm 36 and a long front arm 37, slightly flexible and having a pallet 38 at its free end next to the end of the rear arm 28 of the pawl 20.
- a side of the rear arm 36 abuts against a control finger 40 forming part of a lever 41 pivoted at 42 and connected to the rocker 34.
- the control finger 40 is moved back to the neutral position shown in FIGS. 2 to 4.
- the isolator 30 which abuts against the finger 40 also occupies a neutral position in which the pallet 38 of its arm 37 is beyond the end of the rear arm 28 of the pawl 20.
- the trigger finger 12 pushes the arm 28 towards a side face of the pallet 38, as the show the figures 4 and 5.
- the resistance that the long arm 37 of the isol The ratchet 20 can be opposed to the pawl 20 under these conditions and is weaker than the force of the finger 12, so that the insulator can flex to let the ratchet pivot and thus allow the normal operation of the large rocker 2.
- the locking means comprising the isolator 30 in the form of a pivoting lever in this example has the advantage of being simple, reliable and compact. However, it can be done differently, for example with an insulator formed by a slider or a part whose end is raised to create a stop against the pawl, but the solutions of this kind are less popular with watchmakers.
- the blocking means according to the invention instead of preventing the movement of the large rocker, could be arranged to neutralize the effect of this movement. This is possible for example when the large scale acts on the date counter by means of an arm articulated elastically on the scale, as seen for example in the patent application. GB 2369897 . It would be sufficient for the isolator to be placed on the trajectory of this arm to push it away from the teeth of the date counter during the time-setting operation.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a watch having time setting means and a calendar mechanism comprising a spring-loaded latch triggered once a day from a 24-hour wheel, which is driven by the movement of the latch. the watch to make a turn a day, the triggering of the rocker having the effect of advancing a mobile date milestones, for example with a star, in the calendar mechanism.
In the usual calendar watches, when manually moving the hands to set the watch on time, for example because it had stopped, the 24-hour wheel can go through its midnight position and activate the calendar mechanism by incrementing the date and the day of the week, and if necessary the moon phase indicator. The user does not always want such an action that can be quite troublesome, especially by its cascading effects in a perpetual calendar mechanism, and in some cases he would prefer to adjust the date separately by means of the usual manual correctors, each acting on one of the calendar indicators.
The subject of the present invention is a calendar watch of the type indicated in the preamble above, arranged so as to allow time setting without this operation modifying the state of the calendar mechanism.
More particularly, a watch according to the invention is characterized in that the calendar mechanism comprises locking means, having an active position in which they prevent a transmission of the movement of the 24-hour wheel to the mobile of the dates, and in that that the blocking means are set in the active position by the time setting means when they are put in the time setting position of the watch. As a result, during the transition to midnight during the time setting, not only the date mobile remains stationary, but also other elements of the mechanism that can be driven by this mobile, including a month counter and a counter of years.
According to a preferred embodiment, the locking means are arranged to prevent the movement of the rocker under the effect of the flip-flop spring. Thus, all the elements of the calendar whose movement results from the action of this rocker, even if they are not driven by the mobile dates, necessarily remain stationary while the user puts his watch on time, even when the 24-hour wheel passes through its midnight position.
In the case of an instant calendar calendar mechanism as defined above, the locking means may advantageously comprise a movable insulator which in its active position, rests against the pawl so as to prevent it from releasing the latch. According to an advantageous embodiment, the trigger finger installed on the 24-hour wheel is elastic, which allows it to yield when it rests in the midnight position against the pawl blocked by the insulator. The time setting is done without any difficulty.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic plan view showing the elements that control the daily movement of a large flip-flop of a perpetual calendar instantaneous calendar mechanism in a watch, as well as an isolator capable of inhibiting the triggering of the large latch,
- Figures 2 to 4 show in perspective different positions of the elements of Figure 1 around midnight,
- FIG. 5 represents in more detail the position of FIG. 4 under normal conditions, and
- Figure 6 shows the position of Figure 4 during the time setting of the watch.
Watches having a calendar mechanism operated by a daily movement of a large rocker, whether this mechanism is simple, annual or perpetual and operated in a dragging or instantaneous manner, are well known and such a mechanism therefore does not need to to be described here. We simply see in the drawings that the calendar mechanism 1, which is here instantaneous actuation, comprises a
The daily back and forth of the large flip-
The
The
The time setting operation of the watch rotates the hour wheel with the hour hand and, therefore, also rotates the 24 hour wheel and the
In the example shown in the drawings, the
On the contrary, during the time setting operation, the setting in the drawn position of the
The locking means comprising the
