Description

The present invention relates to a method for labeling printed products according to the preamble of patent claim 1 and a device for labeling printed products according to the preamble of patent claim 4.

From the publication EP 96228A a device for addressing newspapers, magazines and the like is known. The device has a conveying device, which has grippers spaced apart from one another in a conveying direction, each of which holds a printed product at its fold and carries it obliquely rearwards with a fold running transversely to the conveying direction. In a labeling station, in each case a trailing end region of the printed product, which lies opposite the fold, lies on a supporting slide rail. Here, the printed products are addressed in their voltage applied to the slide rails areas on the outside, seen in the conveying direction, leading product part.

From the publication EP 709326 A For example, a method and apparatus for labeling folded printed products on an interior side is known. A printed product consists of a first product part, which is connected via a fold with a second product part. The device has a conveying device which is provided with grippers in such a manner that it grips the respective printed product in the region of the fold and transports it along a folding station running transversely to the conveying direction in the longitudinal direction. The printed products will be transported by the grippers hanging, so that a free edge of the respective product parts facing down towards the printing station. The trailing second product part further has a prefold, whereby the free edge of the second product part projects beyond the free edge of the leading first product part. Since the printed products are held at the fold, the first part of the product is applied to the second part of the product before it is lifted off of it for the purpose of printing. For the purpose of lifting off the two product parts from each other in an upstream part of the printing station engaging in the region of the free edges of the printed products opening device in the form of a spiral whose spiral axis extends in the direction of conveying direction of the conveyor, arranged below the conveyor. By means of the rotatable spiral, the first and second product parts are now spaced apart from one another in the area of the free edge during conveying by the spiral acting on the prefold of the second product part. Downstream in the conveying direction, a stationary guide rail is arranged below the conveyor so that it extends into the region of the spiral. The guide rail is shaped such that it approaches steadily from approximately the center of the spiral against the seen in the conveying direction end of the spiral conveyor and extends in the region of the printing station parallel to the conveyor. The pre-opened by the spiral printed products are thereby further opened in the rising region of the guide rail, whereby on the inside of the first and on the inside of the second product part, a band-shaped area on the guide rail comes to rest and is printed at the printing station.

With the above-mentioned devices it is therefore possible to address the printed products either only on one outer side or only on one inner side respectively to label.

It is an object of the present invention, the known method and the generic devices further to form such that both a label on an inside and a label on an outside of the printed product are possible.

These objects are achieved in each case by a method according to the invention according to claim 1 and a device according to the invention according to claim 4. Characterized in that the printed products are arranged on arranged transversely to the conveying direction receiving saddles in the conveying direction arranged astride, and in that for labeling on an inner side of a trailing in the conveying direction second product part, a leading first product part is raised by means of a support member, a region of the inside of the second product part are exposed. This exposed area comes to rest on a support surface associated with the inscription section and can be inscribed.

A preferred embodiment of the inventive method is described in claim 2. The fact that the second product part can rest on a further support member, it is achieved that the first product part is relieved for labeling on the outside thereof.

A further preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is described in claim 3. Due to the rotatability of the receiving unit about an axis of rotation, the receiving unit for labeling the inside of the second product part brought into a rotational position and are brought to label the outside of the first product part in a further rotational position.

Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description and the drawings, which are intended to serve as illustrative examples of the explanations.

The receiving saddle 26 is in each case associated with a receiving unit 34 which, together with the receiving saddle 26, has an axis of rotation 36 on which the receiving unit 34 is rotatably mounted. The axis of rotation 36 extends substantially parallel to the receiving saddle 26 and is arranged approximately centrally in the receiving unit 34. In addition, each receiving unit 34, with respect to the conveying direction F, each associated with a flat, leading support member 38 and a flat, trailing, further support member 40. The receiving unit 34 has a cross-sectional profile of the shape of an isosceles triangle, on which the printed product 12 rests in such a way that the leading first product part 14 and the trailing second product part abut respectively on the triangles of the same length. The receiving saddle 26 takes on the fold 18 of the printed product 12 and is therefore rounded in one, the fold 18 opposite edge region. Of course, it is conceivable that the receiving unit 34 has a rectangular cross-sectional profile and a fold 18 opposite edge region is rounded accordingly.

The equal legs of the isosceles triangular cross section are formed in the present case by the support members 38, 40, which are arranged such that the support member 38 with an inner side 44 of the first product part 14 and the further support member 40 with an inner side 48 of the second product part 16 supporting interacts. A full-surface design of the support members 38, 40 is advantageous when placing the printed products 12 on the receiving unit 34, since the printed products 12 are better managed. Alternatively, it is conceivable that the support members 38,40 are not formed over the entire surface, but, for example, rail-like.

From the Fig.1 It can also be seen that a height 52 of a receiving unit 34 occupies about one-third to one-half of a distance between the fold 18 and the free edge 20, 20 'of the printed product 12. As a result, the remaining part 54 of the respective first product part 14 and of the respective second product part 16 which does not abut the receiving unit 34 remains largely freely movable and thus supple for processing in a certain way.

Depending on the inclination of the receiving units 34 about the associated axis of rotation 36, it is now possible to perform with the same device 10 on the one hand a label on an outer side 56 of the leading first product part 14 and on the other hand a label on the inside 48 of the trailing second product part 16.

In the labeling section 30 is a, a support surface 58 forming support element, for example in the form of a support plate or a support rail, and a labeling station 60 arranged stationary. The arranged below the conveyor 22 support surface 58 has a the pre-section 28 facing, rising ramp 62, extends in the subsequent region of provided with at least one printhead labeling station 60, substantially parallel and at a distance 64 to the conveyor 22 and then falls on a Nachabschnitt 32 facing side of the support surface 58 again.

Fig. 1 shows that in the device 10, the printed products 12 in the pre-section 28 hang freely on the vertically arranged receiving saddles 26 of the receiving unit 34. During the transition from the pre-section 28 to the labeling section 30, the outer side 56 of the first product part 14 comes into abutment with the support surface 58 and the free edge 20 associated with the first product part 14 and a region 66 of the outer product part 14 adjoining the first product part 14 remains in abutting contact with the support surface 58 while the printed product 12 is drawn from the conveyor 22 for writing over the hill-shaped support surface 58.

To label the outside 56 of the first product part 14, the receiving unit 34 in the labeling section 30 is inclined about the axis of rotation 36 (in FIG Fig.1 in a clockwise direction) that the second product part 16 of the printed product 12 is supported on the inside 48 of the further support member 40 and the first product part 14 rests on the support surface 58. The rotational position of the receiving units 34 relative to the axes of rotation 36 is achieved in that the receiving units 34 by means of a likewise associated with the device 10 slide control 68, which in Fig.1 for the sake of clarity only by a dash-dotted line is shown stylized, controlled. However, it is also conceivable that the control of the rotational position of the receiving units 34 takes place instead of a slide guide 68 by electronic, hydraulic or pneumatic means.

The receiving unit 34 is rotated to label the outer side 56 of the first product part 14 about the axis of rotation 36, that a supported by another support member 40 surface 70 of the second product part 16 with respect to the conveying direction F falls substantially obliquely backwards. As a result, the printed products 12 are in contact with the support surface 58 in the region of the outer side 56 of the first product part 14 as the transport progresses through the conveying device 22, so that the substantially band-shaped region 66, which adjoins the free edge 20, can be labeled by the labeling station 60 ,

The well-known labeling station 60 is arranged for this purpose substantially at right angles to the support surface 58. The labeling of the printed products 12 in the labeling area 74 takes place in the direction of the conveying direction F, as a result of which the labeling direction runs essentially the same as the other labeling direction of the printed product 12, or is aligned identically.

After being inscribed by the labeling station 60, the printed products 12 guided by the receiving units 34 slide partially along the gradually sloping support surface 58 and are thus returned successively to that position in the rear section 32, in which they are already in the preliminary section 28, while the receiving unit 34 is tilted backwards have found.

At the in Fig. 2 the device shown is the same device 10, as in the in Fig.1 is shown. In contrast to Fig.1 are the receiving units 34 in the labeling section 30 for labeling the inner side 48 of the second product part 16 now inclined in an opposite direction about their associated axes of rotation 36 (in Fig.2 counterclockwise).

Fig. 2 shows that in the device 10, the printed products 12 in the pre-section 28 hang freely on the vertically arranged support saddles 26 of the receiving unit 34. As before, during operation of this device 10 during the transition from the pre-section 28 to the inscription section 30, the outside 56 of the first product part 14 comes into abutment with the ramp 62 of the support surface 58 in a region 66 adjacent to the free edge 20. With increasing promotion of the printed products 12 in the conveying direction F, the receiving units 34 are inclined in the labeling portion 30 for internally inscribing the second product part 16 about the respective axes of rotation 36, that the first product part 12 is lifted from the leading support member 38, and is characterized and from the support member 38 supported further surface 76 of the printed product 12 with respect to the conveying direction F is oriented such that it drops substantially obliquely forward. While tilting the receiving unit 34 when entering the labeling section 30 in the in the Fig.2 shown rotational position of the first product part 14 relative to the second product part 16 is displaced such that a to the free edge 20 'subsequent, band-shaped portion 78 of the inner side 48 of the second product part 16 is exposed by the fact that the free edge 20 of the first product part 14 due to by the inclination of Receiving unit 34 resulting lifting and the consequent travel requirement in the conveying direction F from the free edge 20 'of the second product part 16 is pulled away. This exposed region 78 of the inner side 48 of the second product part 16 thereby comes to rest on the support surface 58 and can thereby be labeled by the labeling station 60 in a further labeling region 80 arranged therein while it is pulled along the support surface 58.

It is conceivable that the support members 38, 40 associated with the receiving saddles 26 are not assigned to the receiving unit 34 but to a separate support device, wherein the support members 38, 40 are introduced laterally into the folded printed products 12.

It is further conceivable that the support region 58 in the region of the labeling station 60 or the labeling section 30 is not designed to run or only partially parallel to the conveyor 22.

It is likewise conceivable for the receiving units 34 to arrive in the labeling section 30 already in a rotational position suitable for an external labeling or an inscription on the inside of the printed products 12.

It is also conceivable that the support surface 58 is formed by a plurality of sub-elements, for example by rolling elements.

In addition, it is conceivable that the respective support members 38, 40 within the receiving unit 34 are also adjustable.

It is also conceivable that the axis of rotation 36 can be arranged closer to the receiving saddle 26 or further away from this, than in the Fig.1 and 2 is shown. It is also conceivable that the axis of rotation 36 is arranged parallel to the receiving saddle 26 extending outside the receiving unit 34.

It is also conceivable that the lettering of the printed products 12 in the transverse direction, i. running in the direction of the fold 18, takes place.

It is further conceivable that the receiving saddles 26 are arranged obliquely to the conveying direction F on the conveyor 22.

It is also conceivable that the distance 24 between the receiving saddles 26 of the conveyor 22 relative to the embodiment shown is increased such that the second product part 16 of a leading printed product 12 does not overlap the first product part of the trailing printed product 12 '. It would thus be possible to carry out a labeling on the outer side 56 of the first product part 14 in an enlarged labeling region 74, and an inscription in an enlarged, further labeling region 80 of the inner side 48 of the second product part 16 at the same tilting position of the receiving unit 34. If the distance 24 between the receiving saddles 26 of Conveyor 22 would be enlarged such that it substantially corresponds to the distance between the fold 18 and the free edge 20,20 'of the printed product 12, the band-shaped portion 66 on the outside 56 of the first product part 14 could almost from the free edge 20 of the first Product part 14 extend to the fold 18. A variable distance 24 between the receiving saddles 26 of the conveyor 22 could, for example, with means according to the disclosure in DE 19649092 A will be realized.

It goes without saying that the device according to the invention for labeling can be arranged one or more times individually or together with other processing stations along the conveyor.
