Abstract

The knife (10) has a blade holder (12) movable between non-usage and cutting positions, where a blade (13) is arranged in a retaining channel in the non-usage position, and is projected from an opening of a housing (11) in the cutting position. Slot-shaped recesses (15) arranged opposite to the side surfaces of the housing accommodate operating projections (20), and an additional recess arranged at a back of the knife accommodates an additional operating projection. The recesses form finger and hand contact surfaces for a user, where the surfaces surround outer surface area of the housing.

Description

The invention relates to a knife with a knife housing according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a knife is known from the DE 36 22 343 C2 , In a receiving channel of the blade housing, a blade holder, which receives the knife blade, out. The blade holder has on both sides of an operating lug, which is received in each case in a recess of the housing. With the operating approach, the blade can be moved against the restoring force of a spring from a retracted into the housing position in a cutting position in which a portion of the blade for cutting protrudes from a housing opening.

This knife has the advantage that due to the two-sided operating approach, the operation of the knife for both left-handed and right-handed is possible. However, the knife is difficult to handle in a horizontal cutting motion where pressure on the knife back is necessary.

A knife, which is known from public prior use, also has a translationally guided in a receiving channel of the blade housing blade holder. The housing back has a recess which is penetrated by an operating set, which is connected to the blade holder. The operating instructions overlap the knife housing like a saddle. The knife is therefore suitable for both right- and left-handed and also allows horizontal cuts, where a thumb pressure must be exerted on the back of the knife.

A disadvantage of the knife, however, is that the knife is difficult to handle. For example, when moving the operating approach with the thumb of the operating approach collides elsewhere with the hand enclosing the housing.

Starting from the first-mentioned prior art, it is therefore an object of the invention to provide a knife that is improved in handling.

The object is achieved with the features of claim 1, in particular with the features of the characterizing part.

The essential principle of the invention is that the blade housing now has three slot-like recesses, in each of which an operating lug for the blade holder is added. The outer surfaces of the blade housing, which surround the recesses, form supporting and abutment surfaces for the user's fingers. The outer surface of the actuating lug may be set back or flush with respect to the surrounding housing outer surface. Portions of the outer surfaces of the actuating lug may also protrude with respect to the surrounding housing outer surface.

Advantage of the invention is that the knife can be used by both right and left-handers in two different cutting positions. In a first cutting position, the cutting pressure is applied by the palm of the hand on the back of the knife, while in a second cutting position, the thumb rests on the back of the knife and causes the cutting pressure.

According to a first embodiment, the surrounding housing outer surface regions protrude with respect to the actuating lug, while the actuating lug is at least partially recessed with respect to the housing outer surface regions. Because the surrounding outer surfaces, which form supporting surfaces for the user's hand, protrude from the actuating lug, the user's hand spans the recess in a bridge-like manner and therefore does not come unintentionally in contact with the other actuation approaches when operating an actuation approach.

According to a further embodiment, at least one actuating lug has a bead, which protrudes with respect to a control surface of the actuating lug. The bead forms a stop for the operating finger, whereby slipping of the fingers is prevented and the operating approach is easier to move. The bead protrudes from the control surface. He can, but does not have to protrude over the surrounding outer surfaces of the blade housing. It is therefore possible that it protrudes with respect to the operating surface, but is recessed with respect to the surrounding outer surface.

According to a further embodiment, all actuation approaches are assigned to an actuating element. For example, the actuation lugs may be glued to the actuator or otherwise attached, such as e.g. by clipping. The actuator may for example be fixedly attached to the blade holder or otherwise act, for example by means of a coupling, with the blade holder together.

According to a further embodiment, the actuating lugs and the actuating element are integrally connected to each other. The one-piece actuator can be made for example by plastic injection molding.

According to a further embodiment of the invention, at least the blade housing region, in which the recesses are provided, has a substantially rectangular cross section.

According to an ergonomically advantageous embodiment, the corner regions of the substantially rectangular cross-section are rounded.

According to a further embodiment of the invention, at least the blade housing region, in which the recesses are provided, has a substantially oval cross-section.

In the drawings, a knife is generally designated by the reference numeral 10. Like reference numerals in the different figures indicate corresponding parts.

Such a knife 10 has according to Fig. 1 essentially a blade housing 11, a blade holder 12 with a blade 13 and an actuating element 14. The knife housing 11 is provided with approximately slot-like recesses 15, 16 and 17. Furthermore, the blade housing 11 has a receiving channel A.

In the receiving channel A of the blade housing 11, the blade holder 12 is arranged longitudinally displaceable in a known manner. The blade holder 12 can therefore between a cutting position according to the FIGS. 1 to 4 in which the blade 13 partially protrudes from an opening 18 of the blade housing 11 and adjusts a non-use position, not shown be, in which the blade 13 is retracted into the receiving channel A, so that an edge S of the blade 13 is not a hazard. The blade 13 is received in the blade holder 12 in a known manner. The blade holder 12 is loaded by a coil spring F in the non-use position.

The blade holder 12 is associated with the actuating element 14, which integrally molded actuating lugs 20, 21 and 22 with control surfaces 32, 33, 34 has. The actuating lugs 20, 21 and 22 are provided with beads 29, 30 and 31, which constitute a stop surface D for a user's operating finger. The actuator 14 may be fixedly attached to the blade holder or, for example, be connected via a coupling element with the blade holder.

The actuating lug 20 is arranged in the recess 15, the actuating lug 21 in the recess 16 and the actuating lug 22 in the recess 17. The knife 10 therefore allows the operation of the blade holder 12 in two different holding positions of the knife 10. In a cutting position, the cutting pressure is applied with the heel of the hand on the R back of the knife. The blade holder 12 can then be operated by means of the actuation lugs 20 or 21, depending on whether the knife 10 is being used by a right-handed or a left-handed person. In another cutting position, the cutting pressure is applied with the thumb on the back of the knife R. Both right and left-handers can then operate the blade holder by means of the actuating lug 22. Thus, by means of the knife according to the invention, movement of the blade holder 12 from the non-use position to the cutting position of three cutter-housing sides 23, 24 and 25 is possible.

The recess 15 is surrounded by outer surfaces 26, the recess 16 of outer surfaces 27 and the recess 17 of outer surfaces 28 of the blade housing 11. Like from the FIGS. 1 to 4 it is clear that these are Actuation approaches 20 and 21 and the molded beads 29 and 30 with respect to their surrounding housing outer surfaces 26 and 27 sunk arranged. Also, the actuating projection 22 is recessed with respect to the housing outer surface 25, while the molded bead 31 projects slightly with respect to the housing outer surface 28.

It should be emphasized that in the operation of, for example, the actuating projection 22 with the thumb of the right hand, the rest of the blade housing 11 embracing fingers do not collide with the other Bedienansätzen 20 and 21, since the surrounding housing outer surfaces 26 and 27 finger and hand contact surfaces. Due to the housing outer surfaces 26 and 27, which form contact surfaces, the hand spans the recesses 26 and 27 like a bridge and does not come with the actuating lugs 20 and 21 in contact. This advantageous effect also occurs upon actuation of the actuating lugs 20 or 21.

Contrary to the representation according to the FIGS. 1 to 4 can also be the bead 31 with respect to the housing outer surfaces 28 sunk.
