Description

  • This invention relates to a fencing system comprising at least a post, a fixing bracket for securing at least one fencing panel to the post and a nut.
  • Fencing systems are generally known and are a.o. described in European Patent Applications nos. 0 367 313 and 0 740 035 , PCT patent application WO 00/42277 and British patent application no. 2.250.757 The system disclosed in GB-A-2 250 757 comprises all of the features of the preamble of claim 1.
  • A first object of the new fencing system according to the invention is to provide a system, whereby it is possible to connect and disconnect the fixing bracket to the post in a quick and easy way.
  • Another object of the new fencing system according to the invention is to obtain a fencing system, whereby it is possible to secure many several types of fencing panels to the post.
  • Still another object of the invention is to realize a fencing system, whereby the fencing panels can be fixed to the brackets on the post by one person.
  • The fencing system according to the invention is characterised in that the post is provided with a first keyhole with a first keyhole slot, that the fixing bracket is provided with a second keyhole with a second keyhole slot, and that the nut is provided with at least one groove for fixing the bracket to the post by positioning the groove into the first and second keyhole slots.
  • A further embodiment of this fencing system is characterised in that the nut is provided with two parallel grooves.
  • Thanks to this special form of the first and second keyholes of the post and the bracket and the corresponding grooves of the associated nut; it is very easy to connect and disconnect a fixing bracket to a post without using any tool.
  • A preferred embodiment of the fencing system is characterised in that the fixing bracket consists of a U-shaped fixing plate, the legs of which are provided with a number of recesses for taking up the fencing panels.
  • A particular embodiment of this preferred embodiment is characterised in that the recesses are equidistant recesses and that the fencing panels consist of a welded mesh panel of vertical and horizontal wires, whereby the center-to-center distance of the horizontal wires is equal to or a multiple of the center-to-center distance between the recesses of the fixing bracket.
  • Thanks to this particular embodiment, it is possible to secure several types of fencing panels to the post, because the horizontal wires of the fencing panels can be easily engaged into the recesses or spaces of the legs of the U-shaped fixing plate.
  • Another preferred embodiment is characterised in that the width of the grooves is substantially equal to the sum of the wall thickness of the post and the wall thickness of the fixing bracket.
  • Thanks to these special dimensions or measures and when the post is in a vertical or erected position; the fixing bracket is clamped against the post. In this way, it is possible to fix a number of brackets to the post. The number of brackets is depending on the height of the post.
  • When the fixing bracket of a U-shaped fixing plate, the fencing system is preferably characterised in that this U-shaped fixing plate is provided with a clamping plate, whereby the clamping plate is provided with at least two parallel notches for accommodating the legs of the U-shaped fixing plate.
  • The fencing system according to the invention will now be illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which :
    • Figure 1 shows in perspective an exploded view of the fencing system,
    • Figure 2 shows a top view of the assembled fencing system, and
    • Figure 3 shows a vertical cross-section according to line III-III' in figure 2.
  • Figure 1 shows an upper part of a post 1, a fixing bracket 2 and a nut 3. The post 1 is provided with a first keyhole 4, whereas the bracket is provided with a second keyhole 5. Each keyhole 4, 5 consists of a substantially circular part and a substantially rectangular part or the post 1 is provided with a first keyhole slot 6 and the bracket 2 is provided with a second keyhole slot 7. The dimensions of both keyholes are substantially the same. The nut 3 is provided with two parallel grooves 8.
  • The installation or connection of the fixing bracket 2 with the upper part of the post 1 is as follows :
    • insert the grooves 8 of the nut 3 into the second keyhole slot 7 of the fixing bracket 2 and slide up to the top of slot 7;
    • locate the nut 3 into the circular part of the first keyhole 4 of the post 1 and slide down to the bottom of the first keyhole slot 6 of the post 1.
  • In this way, the fixing bracket 2 is connected to the upper part of the post 1. It is clear that the dimensions of the keyholes 4, 5 and the nut 3 are adapted to each other; Therefore, the circular cross-section of the nut 3 is somewhat smaller than the circular cross-section of the upper part of the keyholes 4 and 5. The distance between the two grooves 8 is somewhat smaller than the width of the rectangular keyholes slots 6 and 7.
  • As can be clearly seen in figure 2 in a preferred embodiment, the width of the grooves 8 is substantially equal to the sum of the wall thickness of the post 1 and the wall thickness of the fixing bracket 2. This results in a clamping action of the fixing bracket 2 against the post 1.
  • As shown in figure 1, the fixing bracket 2 preferably consists of a U-shaped fixing plate, the legs 9 of which are provided with five recesses or spaces 10 for taking up the fencing panels 11. The recesses or spaces 10 are preferably equidistant recesses and the fencing panels 11 are preferably welded mesh panels consisting of horizontal and vertical wires, whereby the center-to-center distance of the horizontal wires is equal to or a multiple of the center-to-center distance between the recesses of the legs 9 of the U-shaped fixing plate.
  • A very important advantage of the fencing system according to the invention is, that it is now possible to connect e.g. three such fixing brackets 2 to an erected post 1; a first one in the upper part, a second one in the middle part and a third one in the lower part of the post 1. Once these three brackets 2 are connected to the vertical post 1; it is now easy to hang up the welded mesh panels 11 in a correct position to the fixing brackets 2 by hooking the border vertical wire against the leg 9 and by guiding the horizontal wires into the recesses or spaces 10 of the bracket 2.
  • As can be seen from figure 1, it is also possible to position a longitudinal clamping plate 13 with longitudinal apertures 14 above the brackets 2, whereby the fixing bolts 12 are tightened for connecting in this way the clamping plate 13 against the brackets 2. The clamping plate 13 is preferably provided with at least two parallel notches 15 for accommodating or taking up the legs 9 of the U-shaped fixing brackets 2.
  • Figure 2 shows a to view of the assembled fixing system according to the invention. Its is clear, that the thickness of the fencing panels 11 is preferably substantially equal to the height of the legs 9 of the U-shaped fixing brackets 2. In this way, the panels 11 are tightened up between the brackets 2 and the clamping plate 13.
  • Figure 3 shows a vertical cross-section according to the line III-III' in figure 2. As can be seen, the grooves 8 of the nut 3 are positioned into the first and second keyhole slots 6, 7 of the first and second keyholes 4, 5.
