For heat dissipation in heat engines, especially in commercial vehicle and passenger car engines, fans and fan drives are required in addition to efficient coolers, which provide the cooling air efficiently. A needs-based control of the cooling air flows while minimizing noise and loss of power ultimately causes a reduction in the respective fuel consumption or fuel consumption and a reduction in environmental impact.
For cooling of modern heat engines and in particular in vehicle engines mainly so-called forced circulation cooling (pump circulation cooling) is used. In this type of cooling, the heat generated in the heat engine with the aid of a circulating liquid in a cooler, which is designed as air / liquid heat exchanger, promoted and cooled there by means of a fan or fan through the radiator air flow again. In this context, the fan has the task to provide the radiator and the engine compartment with a sufficient amount of cooling air. The air delivery volume required for adequate cooling varies depending on the operating state of the heat engine. Therefore, switchable fans or fans are usually used, which are driven by a fan drive as soon as the upper limit of the operating or coolant temperature is reached. This may be the case with motor vehicle engines, for example, as soon as the airstream is no longer sufficient for cooling.
Depending on the respective operating or coolant temperature switchable fan drives usually have between the drive shaft and fan hub a temperature-dependent switching clutch. In this case, especially bimetallic or expansion elements actuated friction clutches, via thermal switches switched electromagnetic clutches or Visco® clutches come. Here, Visco® couplings are characterized by the fact that in the fan hub a working and a reservoir are located, which are separated by an intermediate disc, which rotates in the working space firmly connected to the drive shaft drive pulley and so a Visco® liquid for power transmission between Drive shaft and fan hub set in motion.
Another way to drive a fan assembly in a heat engine is to use hydraulic systems. Such hydrostatic drives have on the one hand at least one hydraulic pump, which is driven by the heat engine, and on the other hand via a hydraulic motor which is connected to the fan. However, the problem is the control of the hydrostatic fan drives.
Furthermore, DE 197 28 814 A1 discloses a cooling system for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, in which information signals are formed in a control and regulation unit as a function of operating or environmental parameters and transmitted to a fan control, wherein the fan control on the basis of these information signals the Fan power determined. Thus, the control of the cooling system in this case takes place in that the control of the thermostatic valve only generates information signals about the set control level of the coolant temperature, while the fan controller determines the required fan power for this purpose.
Also in passenger cars and commercial vehicles fan drives are used, which are electrically controlled by a control unit. For this purpose, in the control electronics in the scope of a temperature management, among other control parameters or maps deposited, which are tailored to the fan drive to be controlled.
The problem with the known from the prior art cooling systems, however, that both in cooling systems for stationary heat engines and in the vehicle, especially in commercial vehicles or high-performance cars, cooling systems used often in series production different fan drive systems a control unit are combined, so that in each case a reprogramming of the control unit for the fan drive used must be made. Especially in maintenance and repair work, in which the fan clutch is replaced, in the known systems usually a reprogramming of the control unit will be required.
Based on the known prior art, the present invention seeks to provide a method for cooling a heat engine and a cooling system for a heat engine, in particular for a vehicle internal combustion engine, in which to meet in a simple manner and without expensive precautions in the production different fan drives can be combined with a controller. Above all, the technical solution according to the invention should ensure that no additional programming of a control unit in the production or assembly of the heat engine with cooling system is required.
The above object is achieved by a method according to
The invention is based on a cooling system for a heat engine, in particular for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine, which has a fan wheel operatively connected to a fan drive and which has at least one measuring element for detecting at least one state value of the heat engine and a fan control. In this case, a control signal can be generated in the fan controller on the basis of the at least one state value and at least one heat engine-specific and / or environment-relevant control parameter and / or characteristic field stored in the fan control, which can be transmitted via a data link to the fan drive for influencing an operating mode of the fan wheel. According to the invention, the cooling system is characterized in that in the fan drive and / or in a module which is provided for data exchange with the fan drive, a fan drive specifying detection signal can be generated and transmitted to the fan control, wherein in the fan control, the detection signal evaluable, based on the detection signal of the control parameters and / or the map selectable and the control signal can be generated.
In the technical solution according to the invention, the detection of the respective fan drive is carried out automatically when switching on or starting the heat engine. For this purpose, a typical for the fan drive used signal is evaluated by the fan controller and the appropriate control parameters or maps selected, which are based on the control of the fan drive. Preferably, the fan control is not a separate component, but the fan control is in a central engine or vehicle control, ie in a central control unit, integrated.
In a special embodiment of the cooling system according to the invention, the fan drive is embodied such that a torque transmission takes place by means of a fluid in a fluid friction clutch, in particular in a Visco® clutch. The Visco® drive is characterized by the fact that there is no mechanical connection between the input and output shaft. Rather, in this drive, the power transmission via a fluid, in particular a silicone oil, with which the Visco® coupling is filled depending on the particular design.
Another very special embodiment of the cooling system according to the invention provides that the fan drive is designed as a hydrostatic drive. In such drives hydraulic pumps are used, which are driven by the heat engine, such as an internal combustion engine, and promote a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic motor, which is in operative connection with the fan or the fan hub.
In a further particular embodiment, the data link, via which the detection signal specifying the fan drive is transmitted to the fan control, is designed as an additional data line. Primarily suitable here data lines with which either electrical or optical signals are transferable. Of course, it is also conceivable in this context to integrate the data link in a bus system or to execute the data link as a radio data link.
In order to detect the operating state of the fan, a speed sensor is preferably provided, with which the speed of the fan wheel can be detected. From the number of pulses detected by the sensor, the speed of the fan wheel is determined in the fan control. In a very particular embodiment of the invention, a special pulse signal is also used as a detection signal, wherein the special pulse signal is assigned to a specific fan drive. In this way, the fan controller detects which one Fan drive is used so that the control of the fan can be adapted to the type of fan used.
In connection with the cooling system according to the invention, a Hall sensor for use as a speed sensor is particularly suitable here.

- a fan operatively connected to a fan drive generates an air flow for cooling a cooling medium which at least temporarily dissipates heat from the heat engine,
- at least one state value of the heat engine is detected with at least one measuring element and transmitted to a fan control, and
- in the fan controller on the basis of the state value and at least one heat engine-specific and / or environment-relevant control parameter and / or characteristic field stored in the fan controller, a control signal is generated which is transmitted via a data link to the fan drive for influencing an operating mode of the fan,
and that it is characterized in that in the fan drive and / or in a module which is provided for data exchange with the fan drive, a fan drive specifying detection signal deposited or generated and transmitted to the fan control, and that evaluated in the fan control, the detection signal and under Based on the evaluated detection signal of the control parameters and / or the map selected and the control signal is generated.
A special embodiment of the method according to the invention provides that a speed of the fan is detected by a speed measuring unit and the speed information is transmitted as an input signal to the fan control. Moreover, the pulse signal is preferably used as the detection drive specifying the detection signal, which is finally evaluated in the fan control, or which is based on the selection of the operating mode of the fan influencing control parameter and / or map.
In the evaluation of the detection signal executed as a pulse signal, a pulse / pause ratio of the pulse signal in the fan control is preferably evaluated. Alternatively or in combination with the aforementioned evaluation option, it is also conceivable to evaluate an amplitude and / or a geometric shape of the detection or pulse signal for determining the respectively used fan drive in the fan control.

Auf diese Weise werden Wärmespannungen im Motor 1 verhältnismäßig klein gehalten.FIG. 1 shows a forced circulation cooling system for cooling a commercial
The cooling system shown in Figure 1 has on the one hand via a
To control the
In this way, it is possible to connect the
In the
When the
As soon as the
Due to the provision of a corresponding detection signal, it is thus possible to use a
