Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for protecting a user in the event of a fall of a substantially vertical path such as a ladder. This device is for example usable on a tank vehicle, or a container, the constitution of which requires the user to mount on the upper part to access the loading devices.
It is known to have on the upper part of the tank a fixed line (or lifeline) to which it is possible to hang a strap connected to a harness worn by the user. Such equipment is very effective in case of a fall from the top but does not protect the user when it is climbing or descending the ladder access to the top of the tank.
To obviate this drawback, it is known to mount along the ladder a fixed line connected to the horizontal line running on the upper part of the tank. The free end of the strap is provided with hooking means mounted to slide on the fixed line. At regular intervals along the fixed line, stops are provided to block the downward movement of the attachment means in case of fall of the user. This system has the disadvantage of having a relatively long reaction time if the attachment means is relatively remote from the stop during the fall. In addition, when climbing, the user is forced to manipulate the attachment means to pass the stops. These drawbacks tend to deter users from clinging to the vertical fixed line when they take the ladder. There are also hooking means comprising an incorporated braking system. It is then necessary, however, to have a short strap in such a way that the hooking means be close to the user when on the scale. This hinders the movements of the user. To allow the user to get up once on the top, there is a second strap, longer or retractor, with which the user clings to the horizontal line before unhooking the short strap hung at the vertical line. Inverse operations are performed on descent. These manipulations are relatively tedious for the user who must perform them correctly to evolve safely.
It would therefore be interesting to have a means allowing an effective reassuring of the user of a substantially vertical path. By substantially vertical means any path taken by the user to move in a substantially vertical direction. This way can be arranged as a ladder, a stepladder, a staircase, a vertical or sloping wall provided with steps and / or catches, a via ferrata, or a pylon along which catches and / or steps are provided . This path may be undeveloped as a wooden pole or tree along which the examiner can climb using claws.
For this purpose, according to the invention, provision is made for a device for protecting a user in the event of a fall of a substantially vertical path comprising a harness equipped with a self-locking rewinder with automatic return of a link having a free end provided with a hooking means to a guide element extending along the substantially vertical path between a lower part and an upper end thereof, the device comprising stop means of the attachment means , the abutment means being displaceable along the guide element between the lower part and the upper end of the substantially vertical path and immobilizable in the vicinity of the upper end of the substantially vertical path.
Thus, since the lower part of the substantially vertical path, the user can bring the attachment means at the upper end of the substantially vertical path and immobilize it. As it goes up or down the substantially vertical path, the link as a strap, is gradually wound or unwound. In case of a fall, the body of the user exerts a violent pull on the strap which causes the actuation of the locking means of the self-locking reel. The height of the fall is then reduced to the length of webbing that unwound under the violent traction before the locking means come into action. Given the speed of operation of the locking means current reels, this length is very limited.
According to a first embodiment, the abutment means comprise a pole having an end arranged to cooperate by sliding with the guide element and bear under the attachment means, and means for fixing the pole along the guiding element.
The guide element thus facilitates handling of the pole. This embodiment is particularly simple, quick to implement and robust.
Preferably, said end of the pole is provided with a stirrup extending around the guide element.
Thus, the stirrup guides the end of the pole which is therefore particularly easy to handle.
According to a second embodiment, the abutment means comprise at least one pulley mounted in the vicinity of the lower part of the substantially vertical track, at least one pulley mounted in the vicinity of the upper end of the substantially vertical track, a flexible element. extending in a loop around the two pulleys, a support element mounted to slide on the guide element and connected to a strand of the flexible element and means for locking the flexible element in position when the support element is at near the upper end of the substantially vertical path.
This embodiment is also very simple and robust. It makes it possible to equip substantially vertical channels of greater width than with the previous embodiment.
Other features and benefits of the invention will emerge on reading the following description of particular non-limiting embodiments of the invention.

It is understood that the movement of the cable 42 around the
On notera que le câble 42 est ici réalisé en deux parties reliées par des anneaux auxquels sont accrochés l'anneau 43 et le câble 44.Note that the cable 42 is here made in two parts connected by rings to which are attached the
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and variants can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the claims.
In particular, the invention can be used in association with many means of transport and in particular terrestrial such as tank vehicles, railway as the wagons, river or sea for access to the holds of boats, or with mobile structures used in transport or handling like containers or overhead cranes. The invention can also be used with fixed structures such as buildings, gantries ...
In addition, a belay rail may be used instead of all or part of the cable forming in the embodiments described the
The guide element may be in the form of a rod. This embodiment can be used on a vehicle provided with at least one door, the rod being mounted next to the ladder on the door to have an upper end near and in the extension of the stick when the door is closed.
Although the attachment means have been shown in the form of a slider to which the strap is hooked by a carabiner, other attachment means can be used as a carabiner directly hooked to the fixed line when the fixed line n is not associated with intermediate anchors.
