Description

Objet de l'inventionObject of the invention

The present invention relates to a horizontal axis mill and more particularly to a cylindrical mill for grinding ores. This mill comprises a ferrule rotating about a horizontal axis, the inside of this ferrule is furnished by a wear shield provided with a particular fastening system. In such a mill, the grinding charge is constituted by grinding bodies of generally spherical or cylindrical shape.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

A cylindrical ball mill is generally composed of two compartments partially filled with grinding charges defined according to the particle size of the material to be milled for the first compartment and the milled material for the second compartment. The first compartment grinds raw material and the second grinds the already partly ground material. Given this difference in grain size of the ground material, the two compartments are differentiated not only by the size of the grinding media but also by the shapes of the wear shields used. These are composed of special cast steel plates designed to protect the shell from wear and impact.

The two compartments are separated by partitions lined with lights and a central opening to allow the passage of the material and the ventilation air. In addition these partitions prevent the passage of grinding bodies from one compartment to another.

The shields must transmit the driving power of the mill to the grinding loads: they drive the grinding bodies in the direction of rotation of the mill and prevent them from sliding on the inner wall of the ferrule during the rotation of the mill. The grinding loads thus raised by the shields are divided into different concentric layers subjected to a relative sliding as the effect of lifting decreases as a function of the distance of the layers relative to the shielding. Once the highest lift point is reached, as the grinding chamber is only partially filled, the different layers roll over each other and fall back to the lowest point of the load and then be dragged back to the the top by the armor.

In the first compartment, the shields have a specific profile intended to give them a significant lifting effect so as to cause the shearing and compression of the particles of material that interfered between the different layers of grinding bodies.

In the second compartment of the mill, the grinding phenomenon applies to a material already greatly reduced in size and therefore the size of the grinding bodies decreases according to the grain size of the ground material. To improve the grinding efficiency of the second compartment, it appeared interesting to maintain a classification of grinding bodies by size throughout the second chamber so as to maintain the relation between the size of the bodies and the increase of the fineness of the crushed material. This effect is obtained by means of classifying shields consisting of plates of a shape such that the internal lining of the crusher consists of a series of rings of conical section flared towards the arrival of the material and whose taper causes a classification. regular and permanent crushing machinery. Such shields are extensively described in US Patent 3,630,459 and French Patent 7,006,848.

The attachment of the armor plates, first or second chamber, to the ferrule of the mill is conventionally carried out by bolts passing through the plates and the shell of the mill and whose heads are embedded in a housing plates to avoid exposing them to the wear and shock. The nuts are placed outside the shell which allows the bolts to be tightened from the outside of the mill.

The rings of the grinders are thus pierced with a number of holes for the passage of bolts. Both the configuration of the holes and their diameter change according to the manufacturer of the mill. At present, only DIN has prevailed in Western Europe and is characterized by a longitudinal distance of 250 mm holes and a circumferential distance of 314.16 mm arc. The diameter of the holes varies from 30 to 42 mm according to the manufacturers and the size of the grinders.

Grinders of a non-European origin do not comply with the DIN standard and have a wide variety of drilling, each manufacturer following his own standards.

The manufacturer of cast armor which wishes to equip a mill must therefore design the dimensions and the fixings of the plates according to these different standards and also according to the diameters of the mills because the armor plates resting on the inner cylindrical surface of the ferrule must conform to the inner cylindrical surface thereof.

All of these difficulties can be solved technically by making custom shielding plates for each type of mill but this solution is very expensive and leads to the creation of many models of foundries.

To reduce the number of plate models required for the manufacture of shields and particularly shields that are not standardized according to the DIN standard, different solutions have been devised whose aim was to eliminate the dependence between shielding models and holes. fixing the ferrule.

One solution was to fix the plates without bolting them and to form rings of plates without bolts: first, vaults of plates were installed on the half-circumference of the crusher which was temporarily propped up with jacks up to that the other half of the circumference is also covered with a vault of plates. Once the two half circles covered with plates, they remained unaided, the two arches resting on one another and forming a complete circumference.

This solution as described presented risks during assembly because it was necessary after having installed a vault on a half circumference, turn the mill a half turn to install the plates on the remaining half circumference and work under the arch maintained by the stanchions. Accidents due to falling arches have eliminated this type of assembly in favor of assemblies replacing the cylinders by longitudinal queues of armor plates bolted to the shell and serving as support for the vaults. Unfortunately this Mounting technique again made shielding and foundry models dependent on ferrule bores.

Ce type de solution est notamment présenté dans les documents US-1921672, US-1534000 ou US-2949247.Other solutions also exist and consist in the production of shields composed partially of wedged plates held by bolted plates with the essential characteristic that the bolts of fasteners pass through the shell of the mill. This type of solution is in particular presented in US-1921672, US-1534000 or US-2949247.

Description détaillée de l'inventionDetailed description of the invention

  • d'une virole subdivisée en plusieurs compartiments tapissée de plaques de blindage d'usure ;
  • de plaques de blindage sans boulons, appelées plaques basses ou blindages bas 9;
  • de cerceaux mécanisés 10, cintrés à un diamètre périphérique égal au diamètre intérieur de la virole du broyeur 1 et comportant une séparation et un système d'ouverture de ladite séparation 14 permettant de modifier légèrement leur diamètre périphérique. Ils comportent en outre une rainure sur toute leur longueur permettant d'y insérer des boulons dits boulons têtes à marteaux 12 ;
An embodiment of the mill equipped with the fastening system according to the invention is shown in FIG. 3. It is composed mainly of:
  • a shell divided into several compartments lined with wear shielding plates;
  • shield plates without bolts, called low plates or low shields 9;
  • mechanized hoops 10, bent to a peripheral diameter equal to the inner diameter of the shell of the mill 1 and having a separation and an opening system of said separation 14 to slightly modify their peripheral diameter. They further comprise a groove along their entire length for inserting said bolts hammer head bolts 12;
  • armor plates, bolted on the hoops 10, whose width is greater than the width of a mechanized hoop and having in their center a bolt hole, called high plates or high shields 11.

Un tel système est représenté figure 4.The mechanized hoops 10 are arranged on the ferrule at distances that make it possible to house exactly between them the plates without bolts or low armor 9. To strongly press the hoops on the shell, is installed at the location of each separation, an opening system 14 to slightly increase the peripheral diameter of each hoop 10. A pressed on the ferrule, the separations of the hoop rings 10 are welded together in order to be able to remove the opening systems 14 without modifying the diameter of the hoops 10. Such a system is shown in FIG.

Once the rings are installed, the lowest part of the ferrule is covered with plates without bolts or low shielding 9 placed contiguously between the rings of the hoop 10 so as to cover a ferrule bow allowing manipulation without risk of falling.

Then the bolted plates 11 are arranged on the rings and are held by bolts 12 whose head engages in the groove of the rings and gets stuck in said groove. The nuts 13 of the bolts are embedded in the cylindrical housings of the high shields 11 so as not to be subsequently subjected to the impacts of the balls 7 of the mill 1. Before placing the bolted plates 11 on the rings, setting thicknesses may be placed. cardboard or plastic on the ends of the wedged plates which will be covered by the bolted plates 11 so that the bolted plates 11 slightly press the fixed plates 9 and prevent them from moving after tightening the bolts 12.

The bolted plates 11 will thus remain safe and will also maintain the plates without bolts 9 during the execution of the assembly, to turn and locate the mill appropriately until the surface of the shell is completely filled with plates without bolts 9. As soon as surface of the shell between two rings is almost completely covered with plates without bolts 9, the latter are separated by a hydraulic system and the last plates 9 are forced into the opening between the other plates 9 so that all each ring of plates 9 is maintained by vault effect.

It then remains to complete the installation of the last bolted plates 11 in the same way as for the plates without bolt 9: before installing the last two bolted plates 11 of each ring of bolted plates 11, the fixing bolts 12 are loosened and the last plates 11 are separated by a hydraulic cylinder.

The last two shielding plates 11 are then forced into the opening between the other plates 11 so as to be held by vault effect without the bolts 12 are still necessary.

The bolts 12 that attach the plates 9 and 11 on the hoops are temporary attachment means to allow mounting safely: they do not constitute the final fixation of the shielding that takes place by vault effect.

The installation can progress from ring ring to complete coverage of the ferrule by starting the assembly simultaneously upstream and downstream to finish the visit openings of the mill.

The bolted plates 11 may have different profiles to give them or not, in combination with the non-bolted plates 9, properties of classifying shielding described in the US and French patents mentioned above.
