Description

The invention relates to a sharpener for an oval pin, with a sharpener body, with a guide sleeve which is provided with an oval, a pin guide channel defining bore and which is mounted substantially rotatable about the axis of the pin guide channel on the sharpener body, and with a paring knife which is axially offset from the guide sleeve and obliquely mounted against the axis of the pin guide channel on a knife holder of the sharpener body, wherein formed on an adjacent to the pin guide channel inner surface of the knife holder a concave guide contour into which the paring knife protrudes with a cutting edge.

Such a sharpener is known from DE 76 29 766 U1. In the known sharpener, the guide sleeve is slidably guided in the sharpener body along a normal direction perpendicular to the axis of the pin guide channel and approximately perpendicular to the knife surface. A spring-loaded pressure body, which has a concave counter contour curved in the opposite direction to the concave guide contour, presses the tip of the pin to be sharpened against the peeling blade.

Another sharpener of the type mentioned is known from DE 100 55 008 A1. There is the guide sleeve, and thus the axis of the pin guide channel fixed in a sharpener housing forming the sharpener housing. In contrast, the knife holder, and thus the paring knife along the normal direction is displaced.

In conventional sharpeners of the above type, the problem often arises that the pin is peeled unevenly during the sharpening process along the circumference of his pen tip. This is often associated with the fact that the pin "hooked" on the paring knife, ie a twisting a staggering Torque opposes. This is uncomfortable for handling reasons and can lead to splitting of the pin surface in the area of the pen tip or even to cancel the pin lead.

From DE 25 55 564 B2 (or US-A-4081010) is further known to provide a guide sleeve for the pin with a plurality of cams in a sharpener for an oval pin, which upon rotation of the guide sleeve against a sharpener body via corresponding attacks of Roll off sharpener body. As a result, the axis of an inserted into the guide sleeve pin during rotation of the pin is guided relative to the sharpener body, that the lateral surface of the pin always remains in contact with the cutting edge of the peeling knife. However, the known sharpener is constructed comparatively complicated and therefore disadvantageous for manufacturing reasons.

The invention has for its object to provide a structurally simple and thus in particular inexpensive to realize sharpener, which is particularly suitable for the tips of an oval pin.

This object is achieved by the features of claim 1.

The invention is based on the recognition that the functional deficiencies of conventional generic sharpeners are due to the fact that there the pin axis and the cutting edge of the peeling knife are only shifted along the normal direction perpendicular to the pin axis against each other. This leads to the fact that the lateral surface of the pin rests smoothly on the cutting edge only in the areas where the radius of the pin is minimal or maximum.

Between these areas, the lateral surface of the pin usually lifts off from the cutting edge of the peeling knife, which leads to the described malfunctions. If, on the other hand, one rolls the lateral surface of the oval pin exactly over the cutting edge, as happens in the sharpener known from DE 25 55 564 B2, then the pin axis in cross-sectional projection describes an oval path with respect to the cutting edge, ie it moves both in relation to the cutting edge Normal direction and, perpendicular thereto, in the lateral direction.

Basis of the invention is the consideration to achieve this elliptical leadership of the pin axis during rotation of the pin relative to the pointed body with simplified structural means. As is known, this structural simplification is achieved with the aid of a concave guide structure in the region of the cutting edge, as disclosed in DE 76 29 766 U1 (FIG. 2) and DE 100 55 008 A1 (FIG. 5). According to the invention, this guide contour is used to redirect the pressure acting in the normal direction of the pin against the paring knife in part in the lateral direction and thereby deflect the pin axis parallel to the paring knife according to the desired oval path. In the prior art, however, the guide contour is always used together with a complementary mating contour, which is acted upon in the direction of the paring knife. In this conventional embodiment, the lateral forces exerted by the guide contour and the mating contour on the pin compensate each other, so that the pin axis undergoes no lateral displacement relative to the cutting edge. As is known, however, it is not enough simply to omit the counter contour. Rather, in addition, the guide sleeve is to be designed such that the pin axis (and thus the axis of the pin guide channel) at the axial height of the cutting blade has the necessary lateral freedom of movement. For example, in the known sharpeners, the pin axis would not be guided along the desired oval path, if the counter contour was omitted, especially since there the pin axis is guided by the house at least in the lateral direction fixed in the sharpener body.

There are several advantageous variants, the axis of the pin guide channel to give the required lateral freedom of movement. On the one hand, it is provided in this regard to store the guide sleeve, in particular in the lateral direction with play in the sharpener body. Alternatively or additionally, it is provided that this game is obtained from the guide sleeve itself by the guide sleeve is formed from an elastic material, so that due to this elasticity, the wall of the provided in the guide sleeve bore is so flexible that an inserted into the guide sleeve pin (And thus the axis of the pin guide channel) is slightly pivotable relative to the axis of the guide sleeve.

With sufficiently flexible guidance of the axis of the pin guide channel through the guide sleeve, the paring knife, as provided in a particularly simple embodiment of the invention, be fixed in place on the sharpener body. However, a particularly good sharpening behavior is achieved in a preferred embodiment of the sharpener in which the peeling blade is elastically deflectable substantially in the normal direction. This is to be realized in a structurally particularly simple manner in that the knife holder is formed as a spring tab of an elastic material, in particular an elastic plastic, which is connected along a side line or side edge with the remaining components of the sharpener body.

Preferably, the knife holder formed in this way is fixed to the sharpener body along a side line that is substantially parallel to the cutting edge, especially since the angle of attack of the peeling knife against the pin axis remains substantially constant in the elastic deflection of the knife holder during the sharpening process. Conveniently, the knife holder further, in particular in the vicinity of its connection line with the sharpener body, a predetermined bending point.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the guide sleeve is snapped into a corresponding bearing bore of the sharpener body, wherein This snap connection can be detached non-destructively. This allows, for example, a simple exchange of different guide sleeves, which are provided for different pin cross-sections.

Preferably, furthermore, the surface of the peeling blade is set slightly obliquely against the tangent applied to the pin guide channel at the location of the cutting edge. It has been shown that in this way a particularly good cutting behavior can be achieved.

The sharpener 1 shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 5 in plan view from above or in longitudinal section or in cross section comprises a box-like sharpener body 2 made of metal or plastic, a guide sleeve 3 for a pin S and a peeling knife 4.

The sharpener body 2 is essentially wedge-shaped with a flattened wedge tip 5. At the wedge base 6 remote from the wedge tip 5, the sharpener body 2 is provided with a base wall 7 designed as a double wall. In the base wall 7, a bearing bore 8 is introduced, in which in turn the guide sleeve 3 is rotatably mounted (in Fig. 1, the hidden by the sharpener body 2 part of the guide sleeve 3 is indicated by dashed lines.).

A arranged on the wedge slope 9 of the sharpener body 2 serves as a knife holder 10. The knife holder 10 has a receptacle 11 in which the peeling blade 4 rests such that it with a cutting edge 12 through a chip ejection slot 13 slightly to an inner surface 14 of the knife holder 10 protrudes. The paring knife 4 is fixed by means of a fastening screw 15 on the knife holder 10. Toward the horizontal surface 16 of the wedge shape, the sharpener body 2 is open.

The guide sleeve 3 shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 in longitudinal sections rotated by 90 ° has substantially the shape of a sleeve and is provided with a central bore 17 for receiving the pin S, which has an oval cross section adapted to the provided pin cross section.

In the normal state of the guide sleeve 3 shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the bore 17 is formed coaxially with the circular outer periphery of the guide sleeve 3.

As pin guide channel 18, the abstract volume is referred to, which occupies the inserted into the guide sleeve 3 in a pointed position pin S with respect to the sharpener 1. The pin guide channel 18 results essentially through the interior of the bore 17 and its mental extension outside the guide sleeve 3. In particular, the pin guide channel 18 has a cross section of the bore 17 and the pin cross-section corresponding oval cross-section 19. Furthermore, the axis of the bore 17 defines an axis 20 of the pin guide channel 18th

The guide sleeve 3 is snapped into the bearing bore 8 of the sharpener body 2. In order to enable the snap-fastening of the guide sleeve 3, this is slotted several times starting from its end 21 facing the inner space 21 of the sharpener body 2 (FIG. 3). Furthermore, an annular guide collar 23 provided on the inside end 22 of the guide sleeve 3 is provided with a slide-on slope 24, which facilitates the insertion of the guide sleeve 3 into the bearing bore 8. The guide sleeve 3 is preferably designed such that it can be disassembled again without destruction of the sharpener body 2. In this way, in particular different guide sleeves 3 can be exchanged against each other, which are provided for different pin cross-sections.

In order to allow the pin axis (and thus the axis 20 of the pin guide channel 18) with respect to the sharpener body 2 a certain freedom of movement, the guide sleeve 3 is mounted in the bearing bore 8 in particular in the lateral direction 25 with little play. The lateral direction 25 is the direction perpendicular to the axis 20 in a cross-sectional projection according to FIG. 5, which is aligned approximately parallel to the surface of the peeling blade 4. The exact one is Lateral direction 25 defined by the tangent formed at the point of contact with the cutting edge 12 on the circumference of the pin guide channel 18. The surface of the peeling blade 4 is preferably slightly exposed against the lateral direction 25. The direction perpendicular to both the axis 20 and the lateral direction 25, which is thus aligned approximately perpendicular to the surface of the peeling blade 4, is referred to as the normal direction 26.

Furthermore, the guide sleeve 3 is made of a comparatively soft, and thus slightly elastically deformable plastic material. This in turn serves to give the axis 20 of the pin guide channel 18 a certain amount of leeway with respect to the sharpener body 2. As shown in Fig. 4 in a greatly exaggerated schematic representation, by means of an inserted into the bore 17 pin S, the wall of the bore 17 is deformed and so the pin axis (and thus the axis 20 of the pin guide channel 18) slightly opposite to the axis 27 of the guide sleeve 3 are deflected.

This freedom of movement of the axis 20 with respect to the sharpener body 2 is exploited according to the invention, in order to achieve the sharpening process, i. upon rotation of the inserted into the guide sleeve 3 in pointed position pin S with respect to the sharpener body 2, the axis 20 at the axial height of the peeling knife 4 in both the lateral direction 25 and in the normal direction 26 relative to the cutting edge 12 can deflect. As will be clarified below with reference to FIGS. 6 to 10, a good guidance of the pin surface along the cutting edge 12 is possible in this way.

Each of FIGS. 6 to 10 shows, in a schematically enlarged cross-sectional view, the knife holder 10 in the region of the chip ejection slot 13 with the peeling knife 4 positioned thereon. FIGS. 6 to 10 furthermore show the different rotational position in accordance with a continued rotation of the pin S. Stiftführungskanal 18. Recognizable in Figs. 6 to 10 is in particular that on the inner surface 14 in the region of the chip ejection slot 13 a concave curvature is introduced as a guide contour 28 in the knife holder 10, in the pen guide channel 18 rests. The curvature of this guide contour 28 corresponds approximately to the minimum curvature of the oval cross-sectional area 19 of the pin guide channel 18, so that in the illustration according to FIG. 6, in which the long semiaxis of the oval cross-sectional area 19 is aligned, the guide contour 28 essentially adjoins the circumference of the Pin guide channel 18 conforms.

Fig. 7 und 8). If, in the course of the sharpening process, the pin S is rotated relative to the original position 29 according to FIG. 6 (indicated by dashed lines in FIGS. 7 to 10), then part of the pressing force of the pin S acting against the peeling blade 4 along the normal direction 26 becomes effective the guide contour 28 is deflected in the lateral direction 25. The pin guide channel 18 and thus also its axis 20 are thereby deflected along the lateral direction 25 in the direction of the cutting edge 12 (cf., FIGS. 7 and 8). With continued rotation of the pin guide channel 18 as shown in FIG. 9 reaches a position in which its long half-axis is aligned approximately in the normal direction 26. In the region of this angular position of the pin guide channel 18, the guide contour 28 exerts no or only a comparatively small lateral force on the pin S, so that the axis 20 of the pin guide channel 18 returns to one of the original position shown in FIG. 6 corresponding lateral position, however with respect to the original position 29 assumes a different normal position.

With further continued rotation of the pin S, the axis 20 of the pin guide channel 18 is deflected laterally beyond the zero position shown in FIG. 6 of FIG. This is due, in particular, to the fact that the cutting edge 12, which is in engagement with the pin circumference, of the peeling knife 4 exerts a counter-torque on the pin S.

Looking in the course of Fig. 6 to 10, the change in position of the axis 20, it is clear that the axis 20 by the interaction of the guide contour 28, the cutting edge 12 of the peeling knife 4 and the guide of the pin S in the guide sleeve 3 at each half turn of the pin guide channel 18 a closed oval path 30 is guided. This web 30 is shown for the purpose of illustration in FIGS. 6 to 10 as a dotted line. The distance traveled by the axis 20 along the path 30 from the initial position 29 to the position shown in FIGS. 7, 8, 9 and 10, respectively, is indicated by an arrow P in FIGS. 7 to 10.

This embodiment differs from the embodiment described above in that the sharpener body 2 is formed in two parts. The sharpener body 2 in this case comprises a frame 31, in particular made of metal, and the knife holder 10 designed as a separate part. The knife holder 10 is L-shaped in cross section and consists of elastically bendable plastic. A vertical leg 32 of the L-shaped knife holder 10 engages in a designed as a double wall side wall 33 of the frame 31 and is there with a projection 34 which engages in a corresponding receptacle of the side wall 33, locked. The horizontal leg 35 of the knife holder 10 forms the wedge slope 9 of the overall wedge-shaped sharpener body 2 and carries, as in the embodiment described above, the paring knife 4th

The free end 36 of the horizontal leg 35 is only loosely on the frame 31. The knife holder 10 is therefore connected only in the region of the vertical leg 32 and thus in plan view of FIG. 11 only on a side line 37 with the remaining components of the sharpener body 2, so that the horizontal leg 35 is elastically deflectable in the manner of a spring tab. As a result, the cutting edge 12 of the peeling blade 4 with respect to the axis 20 of the pin guide channel 18 in the normal direction 26 is resiliently deflectable. The pivotability of the horizontal leg 35 is improved by a predetermined bending point 38, which is introduced at the base of the horizontal leg 35, and thus at a small distance parallel to the lateral line 37, in the knife holder 10.

In particular, in this embodiment, the peeling blade 4 is slightly weaker when the pin S is inserted to the tips with too much force in the guide sleeve 3, thus preventing a cancel of the pin lead. In addition, the peeling blade 4 yields when the pin guide channel 18 is displaced from the lateral position shown in FIGS. 12 and 13 by approximately 90 ° into a normal position. This position of the pin guide channel 18, which corresponds to an elastically deflected position of the knife holder 10 is shown in FIGS. 14 and 15.
