Description

The invention relates to a modular display device for optical signals according to the preamble of claim 1 and to a tool for removing display modules from the support frame of a modular display device.

Modulare Anzeigevorrichtungen sind z.B. aus EP-A-0559124, WO 00/65432 A und FR-A-2749693 bekannt.Modular display devices are e.g. from EP-A-0559124, WO 00/65432 A and FR-A-2749693.

A display device of this type is described in DE 199 51 348 A1. This display device has a display field formed from a plurality of identical display modules, wherein the display points are each arranged in rows and columns and are controlled by a control device. The attachment of the individual module housing in the support structure via screwing an angled holding means which engages the front of the module housing, on the support structure. A disadvantage of such a fastening is in particular that the individual module housing for a not directly adjacent to each other can be arranged adjacent and thus no uniform display panel is created, which is also suitable for all types of cross-module signal displays. Secondly, the fastening by means of screwing is relatively time-consuming and complicated, because it is necessary in particular when removing modules, in addition to loosening the screws also hold the module housing so that they do not fall out of the support structure, which also at considerable height, for. across a highway, running display devices pose a danger to the worker.

It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a modular display device for optical signals, which is able to represent across the boundaries of the individual modules away all sorts of large-scale signal display motifs and at the same time a particularly simple and secure exchange of individual modules enable.

This object is solved by the features of claim 1, wherein the tool is used according to claim 9 when replacing the modules.

According to the invention, the fastening of the module housing in the support frame by means of movably formed latching means, which in respective, at least two opposite side walls of each module housing arranged holding elements can be fixed are, wherein the latching means are arranged offset from each other for side walls facing different module housing to each other.

With this construction, it is ensured that a secure mounting of the individual module housing is ensured in the support frame, the installation can be done completely without mechanical aids and the removal with the appropriate tool is also very easy abestatten. In addition, it is now possible to allow the display surfaces of the individual module housing directly angeernzen, so that a continuous display unit is formed, in which also large signal display motifs can be reproduced across module boundaries, without any irregularities occur in the overall picture.

Preferably, the holding elements of the side walls of the module housing projecting retaining lugs, and the latching means are latching tongues with recesses for receiving the holding elements, which already takes place when inserting a module housing a simple and secure attachment of the module housing in the support space.

The front portion of the locking tongues is preferably angled and protrudes from the side wall of the module housing to be determined, whereby on the one hand a guiding action for the release tool is ensured and on the other hand, the leverage of the same is reinforced.

In a preferred embodiment, three latching means are provided for each module housing, of which engage on a side wall of the module housing two and on the opposite side wall of a. Due to this asymmetric arrangement, a particularly secure gripping of the module housing by the latching means is possible.

In a preferred embodiment, the front sides of the module housings, which are formed by slightly protruding over the side walls front panels, abut directly against each other, so that a uniform, cross-module signal display is possible in which no irregularities occur in the joint areas.

In this case, it is particularly preferred that in the front panels at the level of the holding elements parallel to the respective outer edge of the front plate extending elongated recesses are provided, in which a suitable release tool can easily engage from the outside, without damaging the front panels.

Advantageously, spring tongues for supporting the module housing are provided on the support frame, which are integrally formed with the locking tongues, so that after releasing the locking tongues an outwardly directed force is directed to the module housing.

The inventive tool for removing a module housing from the support frame of a modular display device according to the invention has a base plate with a handle attached thereto and a plurality of arranged on two opposite sides of the tool, extending perpendicular to the base plate solvents for releasing the movable latching means of the corresponding holding elements , Here, the solvents are arranged on one side of the tool offset from the solvents on the other side of the tool, so that the inventive advantage of easy replacement is realized with this tool.

In a preferred embodiment, a shoe for engagement with a retaining lug is provided at the front end of each solvent, thereby providing guidance of the tool in the inaccessible inner region between two module housings.

The solvents are preferably bent inwardly in a first, front center section, so that a lever ramp is formed, on which the latching means are pressed outwards during the insertion of the tool and thus released from the retaining elements.

Preferably, the tool has three solvents, wherein two solvents are arranged on one side of the tool and on the opposite side a solvent is arranged, whereby a secure connection of the inserted tool is ensured with the module housing.

Further, preferably on an inwardly directed surface, which is arranged in a second, rear central portion of the solvent, arranged in each case an inwardly and toward the base plate directed leaf spring, which engages with the back of the front panel of the module housing, whereby upon withdrawal the tool ensures a take away of the module housing due to the barb effect of the leaf spring becomes.

Preferably, the solvents are formed as thin sheet metal strips, so that the recesses formed in the front plate take up the smallest possible space.

In the region of the handle, a lever for releasing a removed module housing is preferably arranged by the tool in order to further simplify handling after a module housing has been removed.

Of course, a variation of the number and the distribution of the signal fields 6 in the individual display modules 4 is possible. The display device 1 is usually attached via the support frame 3 to a supporting device, not shown, such as a post, a Schilderbrückentragekonstruktion or other suitable and known support devices.

The display module 4 consists of a module housing 8, which includes a front panel 10 with integrated signal fields 6 and a rear body 12 with four side walls 14 and a rear wall 15. The front panel 10 and the base body 12 are preferably connected to each other by gluing, and inside the base 12 are not shown here electrical / electronic units including the light emitting units by a central control device (also not shown) in a conventional manner be controlled. On at least two opposite side walls 14 holding elements 16 are arranged, which are formed here in the illustrated embodiment as of the respective side wall 14 of the module housing 8 projecting retaining lugs. These retaining lugs 16 are arranged approximately at one-third of the depth of the module housing 8 on the side walls 14, wherein preferably two spaced-apart holding elements 16 are mounted on one side wall, while on the opposite side wall, only a central holding element 16 is present.

The base body 12 is preferably beveled inwardly on the side walls 14 in its rear region, thereby facilitating the insertion of the module housing 8 into the insertion compartment provided in the support frame 3. In addition, four insertion pins 18 are preferably arranged as further guide and support aids on the rear wall 15 of the module housing 8, which, as will be described later, engage in corresponding recesses of the support frame 3. The front panel 10 preferably projects slightly outwardly beyond the base body 12 on the sides, so that the front panels 10 of adjoining module housings 8 in the installed state almost directly adjoin one another.

In Fig. 3, a corresponding front panel 10 is shown. The front panel 10 has a plurality of signal fields 6 arranged in rows and columns. The signal fields 6 are each formed as one-piece cover units and in the openings provided for Front panel 10 used. A signal field 6 usually consists of several, here four lens elements 20, which are integrated into the cover unit and serve to bundle the light, which emits a behind the front panel 10 in the interior of the main body 12 arranged light source, preferably a light emitting diode. By the arrangement described here, the light is bundled by four LEDs to a signal point, which leads to a particularly high luminous intensity.

On the side edges of the front panel 10 elongated recesses 22 are present, which are located at the level of the holding elements 16. These recesses 22 usually go directly from the edge of the front panel 10.

It can be seen that the two front panels 10 adjoin each other directly and the support frame 3 between two slots has a V-shaped portion 23 which is adapted to the tapered shape of the side walls 14 of the module housing 8.

Ebenfalls erkennbar sind die vier Durchtrittslöcher 24 zur Aufnahme der Einführstifte 18 des Modulgehäuses 8, die in parallel zur Anzeigefläche orientierten Schienen 26 des Tragrahmens 3 angeordnet sind.FIG. 5 shows a detailed section of a display device 1 with a plurality of inserted module housings 8, of which in each case the front plate 10 with the indicated signal fields 6 is visible. In the middle region of the figure, an empty insertion compartment for a module housing 8 is shown on the support frame 3 to illustrate the attachment mechanism of the module housing 8. Again, the vertically arranged V-shaped portions 23 of the support frame 3 are visible, which come into contact with the tapered side wall portions of the module housing 8 when the module housing 8 is inserted into the insertion compartment. Also visible are the four through holes 24 for receiving the insertion pins 18 of the module housing 8, which are arranged in parallel to the display surface oriented rails 26 of the support frame 3.

To fasten an inserted module housing 8 serve three latching means 28 which are formed in the present example as fixed to the V-shaped portion of the support frame 3 locking tongues having the recesses 30 for receiving the retaining lugs 16 and angled in its front edge portion 32 each outwardly, ie projecting from the side wall of the module housing to be defined. The attachment of the locking tongues 28 on the support frame 3 is usually carried out by means of screwing or riveting. The locking tongues 28 extend substantially perpendicular to the display surface, and the distance between locking tongues opposite sides substantially corresponds to the width of the base body 12 of a module housing eighth

In the illustrated preferred embodiment, a latching tongue is provided for fastening the left side wall of the module housing 8, which is located substantially at half the height of the insertion compartment. To attach the opposite, right side wall of the module housing 8, two locking tongues are provided, which are located in the region of the upper or lower end of the insertion compartment. This three-point geometry is particularly suitable for secure attachment of the module housing 8 with minimal design effort. There are also various arrangements with three or more locking tongues 28 per module housing 8 conceivable. It should be noted, however, that the locking tongues 28 facing each other side walls asymmetrically, i. offset from one another, are arranged, since otherwise no direct juxtaposition of the module housing 8 would be possible. Even if the locking tongues 28 are arranged here on the left and right in the insertion compartment, it is also conceivable to arrange them at the top or bottom in the insertion compartment, or also on all four sides of the insertion compartment.

The dimensioning of the module housing is almost freely selectable, suitable, for example, module housing with display fields of 210 x 150 mm, 320 x 230 mm or 455 x 325 mm. In the rear region of the insertion compartment spring tongues 34 may be provided for supporting the inserted module housing 8, which are formed here in one piece with the locking tongues 28.

The tool 40 has a substantially triangular base plate 42 to which a handle 44 is attached. In the region of the three corners extending means 46 for releasing the movable latching means 28 are each arranged substantially perpendicular to the base plate 42 of the corresponding holding elements 16 of the module housing 8. The solvents 46 in the preferred embodiment are formed as thin sheet metal strips which protrude from the base plate 42 at a substantially right angle and are bent inwardly in a front center section 48 by being bent inwardly. At the front end of the solvent 46, a shoe 50 is provided for engagement in the retaining lug 16 of a module housing 8 respectively. The shoe 50 has, as usual, two tongues defining an incision disposed between the tongues, which preferably widened from the inside to the outer edge of the shoe. In the elongated portion between front middle portion 48 and base plate 42, the solvents 46 have a rear center portion 52. In this area, a leaf spring 54 is arranged on an inwardly directed surface, which protrudes inwardly at a small angle and extends in the rearward direction to the base plate 42 out. In addition, on the front side of the base plate 42, which is not visible in FIG. 6, at least one rubber buffer is provided which serves as a depth stop in order to prevent damage to the retaining lugs 16 when the tool 40 is inserted.

The arrangement of the solvents 46 corresponds to the spatial arrangement of the latching tongues 28 on the support frame 3, so that in the present example case two solvents are arranged on one side of the tool 40 and a solvent 46 is arranged on the opposite side. Of course, it is also possible here to select other geometries that correspond to the arrangement of the locking tongues 28.

At the single solvent 46, a lever 56 is arranged to release the tool 40 from a removed module housing 8 by the lever is pressed and the thin sheet metal strip bends slightly upwards, whereby the leaf spring 54 is lifted over the front panel 10 and thus the module housing 8 is no longer in engagement with the tool 40.

In the following, the insertion process and the removal process of a module housing 8 in the modular display device 1 is shown. The module housing 8 is inserted into the associated insertion compartment of the support frame 3, wherein the front portions 32 of the three locking tongues 28 are pressed by the retaining lugs 16 slightly outward. In this case additionally serve as a guide, the tapered portions of the side walls 14 of the module housing 8, which come into contact with the V-shaped portions 23 of the support frame 3, and the insertion pins 18 which pass through the through holes 24 and thus allow an exact arrangement of the module housing 8 , When the module housing 8 is fully inserted into the insertion compartment, the retaining lugs 16 engage in the recesses 30 of the locking tongues 28, so that the module housing 8 is securely anchored. Following this, the necessary electrical / electronic connections to the module housing 8 can be made.

Die Federzungen 34 unterstützen mit ihrer nach außen gerichteten Federkraft die Entnahme des Modulgehäuses 8.For removing a module housing 8 from the support frame 3, the solvent 46th of the tool 40 inserted into the recesses 22 provided for this purpose of the front panel 10 and inserted, wherein the leaf springs 54 are compressed. Inside, the shoes 50 engage in the retaining lugs 16, and the locking tongues 28 are bent outwardly due to the cranking of the front central portion 48 of the solvent 46, so that they are no longer in engagement with the retaining lugs 16. At the same time, the leaf springs 54 engage in full passage through the recesses 22 at the back of the front panel 10 and thus serve as barbs in the outwardly directed removal movement of the tool. Thus, the module housing 8 is securely included in the removal of the tool 40 and can be pulled out without further assistance. The spring tongues 34 support the removal of the module housing 8 with their outwardly directed spring force.

Once the module housing 8 is removed from the support frame 3, the tool 40 can be released by pressing the lever 56 back from the module housing 8. In this way, a particularly simple installation and replacement of module housings 8 is possible.
