Claims (15)

  1. Can such as a paint can or the like with its closure device (10), the can having a substantially cylindrical tubular side wall, an upper opening (18) and a sealing lip (20) attached to the tubular wall by a rim (22) which is bent back towards the exterior and is disposed around the upper opening (18), the said rim (22) having a downwardly oriented projecting annular surface referred to as the lower rim surface, the closure device (10) comprising a lid (26) dimensioned so as to cover the upper opening (18) of the can and provided with a pouring spout (34), and including fixing means for fixing the lid (26) to the can (12), the fixing means comprising at least two separate resilient locking tabs (52) which are spaced apart and disposed in order to engage automatically with lowest point on the lower surface (24) of the projecting rim (22) when the lid (26) is positioned on the said opening of the can (12).
  2. Device as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the fixing means comprise at least three separate resilient locking tabs (52) spaced apart from one another equidistantly on the circumference of the liquid (26).
  3. Device as defined in Claim 1 or Claim 2, comprising an annular border (28) joined to the lid (26) and extending towards the bottom of the said lid, the said border (28) covering at least part of the side wall (14) of the can (12) when the lid (26) is positioned on the top of the can.
  4. Device as claimed in Claim 3, wherein said locking tabs (52) are constructed in one piece with the said annular border (28) joined to the lid (26).
  5. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 4, wherein each locking tab (52) includes a substantially planar abutment surface (56) which is provided in order to engage with the lower surface (24) of the projecting rim (22) when the lid (26) is positioned on the said opening (18) of the can (12).
  6. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 5, wherein each locking tab (52) includes an inclined surface (54) provided in order to bear on an upper surface of the projecting rim (22) of the can when the lid (26) is positioned on the top of the can (12), the inclined surfaces (54) deflecting the locking tabs (52) outwards during insertion of the lid (26) onto the top of the paint can (12).
  7. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 6, wherein each locking tab (52) includes a release lever (58) which projects upwards over an upper surface (60) of the lid.
  8. Device as claimed in Claim 7, wherein the said locking tab (52) and the said release lever (58) are constructed in one piece.
  9. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 8, wherein the lid (28) comprises a handle (42) and a central opening provided for a rotary shaft (48) of a mixing assembly.
  10. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 9, wherein the fixing means comprise four equidistant tabs (52) each forming a Y of which one of the branches is shortened in such a way as to bear with at least one abutment surface (56) both on the said tubular side wall (14) of the can (12) and on the lower surface (24) of the projecting edge (22).
  11. Device as claimed in Claim 10, wherein one branch of the Y extends beyond an upper surface (60) of the lid (26) and constitutes a release lever (58) which by a centrifugal radial thrust disengages the abutment surface (56) of the lower surface of the projecting rim (22).
  12. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 11, wherein at least two locking tabs (52) are assembled in pairs, a first part of the locking tabs (52) having at a first height an abutment surface (56) provided in order to engage with the lower surface (24) of the projecting rim (22) of a first type of can (12), a second part of the locking tabs (52) having at a second height, which is different from the said first height, an abutment surface (56) provided in order to engage with the lower surface (24) of the projecting rim (22) of a second type of can (12) which is different from the said first type.
  13. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 12, comprising a tongue (40) for closure of the pouring spout (34), a pushing means (42) being connected to the tongue (40) via means for driving in translation in order to move the said tongue between a position in which it closes the spout (40) and a retracted position which uncovers at least a part of the spout (40).
  14. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3, comprising an annular frustum-shaped flexible joint (3) which is joined to the lid (26) provided in order to ensure sealing of the closure, the joint (3) comprising a free part (302) having a surface which extends laterally and upwards in order to form an adjustable sealing contact zone enabling adaptation to the profile of the can.
  15. Device as claimed in any one of Claims 7 to 14, wherein each of the release levers (58) is capable driving the associated locking tab (52) into a release position, the locking tabs (52) including lateral retaining elements (55) in order to rest on at least one abutment surface (160) formed on a lateral support (16) of the lid (26) when the locking tabs (52) are driven towards the said release position.
