Abstract

A device ( 1 ) fills a flexible pouch ( 100 ) with medicinal fluids. The pouch is mounted with its distal end ( 113 ) upward and attached to a filling infuser ( 110 ) which is supported in a supporting bore ( 121 ). A neck end of the supply container ( 200 ) which carries a resilient cap ( 202 ) is inserted into the bore such that the filling infuser pierces the cap. A flexible bladder ( 31 ) or a squeeze bulb ( 33 ) is connected with an air inlet ( 116 ) of the filling infuser to inject pressurized air into the supply container and accelerate the transfer of medicinal liquids from the supply container to the flexible pouch.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for filling a flexible bag.

The invention finds a particularly advantageous, but not exclusive, application in the field of liquid injection for medical use.

In medicine, the injection of liquid is commonly used especially during transfusion operations, perfusion, artificial nutrition by the venous or digestive system, injection of contrast liquid, etc. Among all the known techniques, the high pressure injection of liquid packaged in flexible pouch is one of the most adapted to the medical environment because of the satisfactory hygiene it provides.

The principle consists in using a flexible pouch which, as its name suggests, is conventionally constituted of a pouch of flexible material containing on the one hand a medical liquid to be injected and on the other hand a reversible connection fitting . This connection is connected, possibly via an intermediate pipe of adequate length, to a removable injection conduit such as a catheter or a hypodermic needle. The flexible bag is then placed in an enclosure containing an inert liquid that can be pressurized in order to deform the bag, thereby forcing the liquid to flow through the injection conduit, where appropriate via the intermediate pipe.

If the injection of liquid packaged in a flexible bag is a technically satisfactory operation, the filling of the bag itself remains an empirical operation since it is carried out simply by gravity. In general, a filling device consisting of a simple infusor filling that is just put in place removably at the end of the reversible connection connection of the flexible bag. The document US 3,807,467 discloses a device similar to that of the application with the difference that the containers are filled upside down. The containers therefore have a position that does not allow their filling by gravity.

The filling infuser conventionally comprises two ducts. The first conduit connects its distal end which is intended to be connected to any external device at its proximal end which is intended to be connected to the internal volume of the flexible bag. The second conduit connects said distal end to an air intake to the outside and generally coupled to a filter impermeable to the liquid.

When filling the flexible bag, the infuser is simply held vertical, so that its distal end is oriented upwards so that the latter can be pressed into the cap of the supply container oriented downwards. The air intake can then play its full role by allowing an air inlet inside the supply container, via the second conduit, and consequently the flow of liquid out of said supply container, by the first leads. The liquid will then flow into the fitting and fill the flexible bag.

This type of filling device operating by simple gravity, however, has the disadvantage of making the filling operation particularly long.

Also the technical problem to be solved by the object of the present invention is to provide a device for filling a flexible bag, intended to introduce a liquid into a flexible bag connected to a filling infuser provided with a plug. air, filling device that would avoid the problems of the state of the art by allowing a significant acceleration of the flow of liquid in the flexible bag and thus a fast filling.

The solution to the technical problem posed consists, according to the present invention, in that the filling device comprises:
  • means for fixing the flexible pouch able to position the distal end of the filling infuser upwards,
  • means for holding a supply container containing the liquid to be introduced, said holding means being able to position said supply container in a position such that the liquid flows by gravity when said container is connected to the infusor of filling,
  • means for compressing the air,
  • connecting means connecting the compression means and the air intake of the filling infuser.

Thus positioned, the supply container is conventionally connected to the flexible bag by the filling infuser, so that the liquid can flow by gravity. But in addition, the air intake which is also connected to the supply container communicates with compression means capable of supplying pressurized air inside said container. The implementation of these compression means will therefore increase the pressure of the air in the supply container. This pressure will then push the liquid through the only accessible flow orifice, that is to say that formed in the infusor and leading to the flexible bag. The filling is then advantageously accelerated.

The present invention also relates to the features which will emerge during the following description, which should be considered in isolation or in all their possible technical combinations.

The figure 1 illustrates a flexible bag (100) ready to be used with a filling device (1) object of the present invention, that is to say that the flexible bag (100) is coupled to a filling infuser (110). The flexible pouch (100) is conventionally made of a pouch (101) made of flexible material and intended to contain a medical liquid to be injected. The bag (101) is provided with a reversible connection fitting (102), here comprising a pipe (103) at the end of which a nut (104) is rotatably mounted. In this exemplary embodiment, the reversible connection fitting (102) can thus cooperate by screwing with a thread (111) formed at the proximal end (112) of the removable filling perfume (110).

In accordance with the figure 2 the filling infuser (110) is equally conventional with two ducts (114, 115). The first conduit (114) connects its distal end (113) which is intended to be connected to any external device, at its proximal end (112) which is intended to be connected to the internal volume of the flexible pouch (100), via the reversible link connection (102). The second duct (115) connects the distal end (113) to an external air intake (116) on the outside and provided with a filter (117) impermeable to the liquid but of course permeable to the liquid. 'air. The filling infuser (110) further includes a pair of support tabs (118) laterally disposed in opposition to each other and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said fill infuser (110).

The figure 2 illustrates further the role of the infusor (110) in a conventional filling operation. As can be seen, the filling infuser (110) is held vertically so that its distal end (113) facing upwards; the pocket (101) not shown here for just below. A supply container (200) containing a liquid (201) is directed downwards, so that it can be coupled to the filling infuser (110) via its plug (202) through which is depressed the distal end (113) of said fill infuser (110). To facilitate this coupling and then ensure a good seal, the plug (202) is made of a sufficiently soft material to allow the introduction of the distal portion (113), advantageously formed in the form of a tip.

The air intake (116) can then play its full role and allow an air inlet inside the supply container (200) via the second conduit (115); the filter (117) preventing the flow of the liquid (201) outwards. The flow of liquid (201) out of said supply container (200), through the first conduit (114), can be achieved, thereby allowing the filling of the flexible bag (100).

It should be noted that all Figures 3 to 9 represents, by way of example, filling systems comprising in each case two filling devices according to the subject of the present invention. The combination of several filling devices does not change the structure or the operating principle of each of them considered in isolation, the description of these figures will concern each time, and for obvious reasons of simplicity, only one said filling devices.

So, the figure 3 illustrates a filling device (1) according to the invention, that is to say intended to introduce a liquid (201) contained in a supply container (200) into a flexible bag (100) provided with a filling infuser (110) itself having an air intake (116).

In this first embodiment, the filling device (1) is provided with fixing means (10) for positioning the flexible bag (100) in such a way that the distal end (113) of the filling infuser (110) is facing up.

The filling device (1) also comprises holding means (20) for positioning a supply container (200) in the vertical position of the flexible bag (100) in a position such that the liquid (201) can be gravity flow when said feed container (200) is conventionally connected to the fill infuser (110).

As can be seen in particular on the figure 4 , the fastening means (10) are able to cooperate by interlocking with at least a portion of the filling perfuser (110). The maintenance is thus advantageously performed on a truly rigid portion of the flexible bag (100).

In the exemplary embodiment illustrated in Figures 3 to 8 , the fastening means (10) comprise a fixing recess (11) of substantially complementary to the proximal portion (112) of the filling infusor (110).

The fastening means (10) further comprise a vertical through opening (12) extending between the fixing recess (11) and the outside. This vertical through opening (12) is adapted to allow the passage of the vertically oriented filling infuser (110), and in particular its proximal portion (112), when it is placed in the insertion recess (11), by insertion following a substantially horizontal direction.

The fastening means (10) finally comprise a horizontal through slot (13) extending between the fixing recess (11) and the outside, the horizontal through slot (13) being able to allow the lateral support tabs to pass therethrough (118) when placing the filling infuser (110) in the fixing recess (11) by insertion in a substantially horizontal direction.

Les moyens de maintien (20) comportent quant à eux un évidement de maintien (21) de forme sensiblement complémentaire à l'extrémité du récipient d'alimentation (200), portant le bouchon (202).The holding means (20) comprise in turn a holding recess (21) of substantially complementary shape to the end of the supply container (200) carrying the plug (202).

In this case, the holding recess (21) has a cylindrical shape whose diameter is substantially complementary to the necks of the most commonly used feed bottles.

The holding means (20) are positioned in the direct vicinity of the fastening means (10) since they are respectively intended to cooperate with the supply container (200) and the filling infusor (110) when they are connected between them. Also, the means of maintenance (20) has a vertical through slot (22) extending between the holding recess (21) and the outside. This vertical through slot (22) is adapted to allow the passage of the distal portion (113), oriented vertically, during the introduction of the filling infusor (110) into the fixing recess (11), by inserting next a substantially horizontal direction.

Particularly advantageously, the vertical through slot (22) and the vertical through opening (12) are directly communicating with each other.

As can be seen in the example of figure 4 , the compression means (30) comprise a flexible balloon (31) compressible via a pivoting pedal (32).

It is also observed that the connecting means (40) comprise a pipe (41) connecting the flexible balloon (31) to a vent (42) able to cooperate by interlocking with the air intake (116) of the filling infuser (110). ). The Figures 5 to 8 the operation of the filling device (1) according to the invention.

Ce dernier, orienté verticalement, partie proximale (113) vers le haut et prise d'air (116) en avant, est introduit horizontalement à travers simultanément l'ouverture traversante verticale (12), la fente traversante horizontale (13) et la fente traversante verticale (22).In accordance with the figure 5 , all filling operation begins with the introduction of the flexible bag (100) coupled to its filling infusor (110). The latter, vertically oriented, proximal portion (113) upwards and air intake (116) forward, is introduced horizontally through simultaneously the vertical through opening (12), the horizontal through slot (13) and the slot vertical crossing (22).

The insertion ends according to the figure 6 when, after a firm pressure, the proximal portion (112) is nested in the recess fastening means (11) forming the fastening means (10). The end of the air intake (116) is then nested in the complementary shaped vent (42) and the distal portion (113) of the filling infuser (110) extends axially into the holding recess ( 21), forming the holding means (20).

The stopper (202) is then pressed firmly onto the distal portion (113) of the infusion infuser (110) until the full position of the neck of the supply container (200) is in the holding recess (21).

L'augmentation de pression va alors forcer le liquide (201) à s'écouler par le conduit (114), et conséquemment va accélérer sensiblement le remplissage de la poche souple (100).In accordance with the figure 8 , it remains then only to implement the compression means (30), manually operating here a pivoting pedal (32). The partial crushing of the compressible flask (31) will thus generate an overpressure that will propagate to the vent (42), via the connecting means (40), and then to the inside of the container supply (200) via successively the air intake (116) and the conduit (115). The increase in pressure will then force the liquid (201) to flow through the conduit (114), and consequently substantially accelerate the filling of the flexible bag (100).

In the second embodiment illustrated in figure 9 , the compression means (30) are simply in the form of a flexible balloon (33) manually compressible.

Naturally, the invention also relates to any filling system comprising at least two filling devices (1) as previously described. Configuration with two filling devices (1) combined, such as the systems shown in Figures 3 to 9 is particularly advantageous when it is necessary to simultaneously fill two single bags or a double bag with two liquids. This is the case, for example, with gadolinium and physiological saline bags.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown by way of examples, but it also includes all the technical equivalents and their combinations as defined by the claims.
