Claims (13)
- Electronic module for an internal combustion engine, particularly a motor vehicle internal combustion engine, ignition coil, characterized in that it comprises at least:- a wrapper (21);- at least two electronic components, one of them being a diode (32) and one a resistor (26), positioned inside the said wrapper;- means (30, 29) for providing an electrical connection between the said at least two electronic components so as to form an electronic circuit;- a connection terminal (34) able to connect the said module to a high-voltage output of an ignition coil electric transformer (14);- a connection terminal (24) able to connect the said module to the input of a spark plug; and- means (28') for electrically connecting the said electronic circuit to the said connection terminals,- the said wrapper defining an interior volume, generally a cylindrical one, open at its axial ends, at least a first of these ends being closed by a cap (24) that forms the terminal for connecting the module to the input of the spark plug,- the second axial end of the said volume of the wrapper being open, a partition (30) being positioned in the said volume at an axially intermediate location so as to delimit a chamber (31) within the said volume with the said cap (24), some of the said electronic components being positioned inside the said chamber (31) and the remainder of the said electronic components being positioned in the said volume outside the said chamber between its open end and the said partition (30).
- Electronic module according to Claim 1, characterized in that it comprises elastic means (29) in the said chamber (31) for providing an electrical connection between the said at least two electronic components (32, 26) so as to form an electronic circuit.
- Electronic module according to one of Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that it comprises elastic means (29) in the said chamber (31) for connecting the resistor (26) to the said partition (30).
- Electronic module according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that at least one of the said electronic components (32, 26) positioned inside the said chamber (31) is a component that is generally cylindrical equipped at least at one of its ends with a contact pad (28') able to make electrical connection with the said cap (24).
- Electronic module according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the resistor (32) external to the said chamber (31) is of the type comprising external connecting wires (33, 34), one of these wires being electrically connected to that face of the said partition (30) that lies outside the said chamber (31).
- Electronic module according to Claim 5, in which the other connecting wire (34) of the resistor (32) is electrically connected to a connection pad able to connect the said module to the high-voltage output of the ignition coil electric transformer.
- Internal combustion engine, particularly motor vehicle internal combustion engine, ignition coil, characterized in that it comprises an electronic module according to any one of Claims 1 to 6.
- Ignition coil according to Claim 7 comprising a casing (12) forming a first housing (13) for an electric transformer (14) and a conduit (17) for means (18) of electrical connection with an input of a spark plug, characterized in that the said casing forms a second housing (15) for the said module between the said housing for the electric transformer and the said conduit.
- Ignition coil according to Claim 8, characterized in that it comprises elastic means (18) in the said conduit to make an electrical connection between the said cap (24) and the said input of a spark plug.
- Ignition coil according to any one of Claims 7 to 9, characterized in that it comprises an insulating resin overmoulded over the said electric transformer and extending towards the said conduit.
- Ignition coil according to any one of Claims 7 to 10, characterized in that it comprises an insulating resin (35) overmoulded over the said electric transformer and extending towards the said conduit as far as the said partition (30).
- Ignition coil according to any one of Claims 7 to 11, characterized in that it comprises elastic means providing an electrical connection (20) between the high-voltage output of the electric transformer and the said electronic module.
- Method of manufacturing an ignition coil for an internal combustion engine, particularly a motor vehicle internal combustion engine, characterized in that it comprises the steps consisting in:- producing an electronic module (16) according to any one of Claims 1 to 6;- producing an electric transformer (14);- producing a casing (12) forming a first housing (13) for the said electric transformer, a conduit (17) for means of electrical connection with an input of a spark plug, and a second housing (15) for the said module between the said housing for the electric transformer and the said conduit;- placing the said electronic module in the said second housing;- placing the said electric transformer in the said first housing;- making an electrical connection (20) between the high-voltage output of the said electric transformer and the said electronic module;- pouring an insulating resin (35) into the said first housing, the said resin extending from a sealing element (30) of the said module and overmoulding the said electric transformer;- curing the said insulating resin.
