Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a recessed electrical connector and the method of mounting such an electrical connector. The invention relates to more particularly the field of electrical connectors but could also apply in other areas.
An electrical connector generally has a body and a insert. The insert is generally made of plastic while being intended for wear electrical contacts. The body is usually made of metal material or composite materials.
The body can be hollowed out with a hole delimiting a wall and the insert is intended to be housed in the orifice by sliding along the wall of the body longitudinally with respect to an axis of the connector. This wall defines a shoulder against which is intended to rest the insert. For maintain in position the insert in the body, it is known to fix the insert by bonding. The disadvantage of this collage assembly is that the glue can disrupt the different electrical connections between the body and the insert. Or well the glue can also disturb the electrical connections of electrical contacts between them.
To fix the insert in the hole of the body of the electrical connector, it is also known to insert the insert into the hole by mounting a ring Stop. A stop ring can be positioned in a groove dug at a location on one surface of the insert while protruding from the surface of the insert. This stop ring is made in such a way that it is intended to come place in a corresponding groove dug in the wall of the orifice of the body during the sliding of the insert in the orifice of the body. The insert can then be kept in the body. However, it can happen a break of the stop ring due to possible efforts of pulling or twisting of the insert relative to the body. The stop ring thus broken may no longer retain the insert in the body or at least be the cause of a bad connection between the insert and the body or electrical contacts between them.
On connaít également dans l'état de la technique le document US 4,139,255.It is also known in the state of the art the document US 4,139,255.
To insert the insert into the body while optimizing performance electrical connection of such an electrical connection between the insert and the body or electrical contacts between them, the invention provides for making an insert comprising at least one elastic embedding means intended to be position in a groove dug into the body wall, which throat being made in such a way that it delimits a surface portion chamfered. This insert and the body can then cooperate in such a way that when inserting the insert into the orifice of the body, the insert comes into support against the shoulder and against the chamfered surface portion of the groove longitudinally with respect to the axis of the connector. The throat is made in such a way that the insert fits firmly and without gaps in the body, regardless of the different dimensions of the insert and the body of the makes manufacturing tolerances. The chamfered surface portion is intended to receive in support the embedding means so that the insert can be positioned by longitudinal adjustment relative to the body and relative to the axis of the connector bearing against the shoulder and against the chamfer, when inserting the insert into the body.
In one example, the elastic embedding means can form a retractable tongue formed at a location on a surface of the insert. The place the chamfer against which is intended to rest the tongue varies from one insert to another and / or from one body to another. The chamfer extends over a sufficient length for the insert to bear against the shoulder and against this same portion of chamfered surface whatever the different dimensions of the body and insert resulting from the tolerances of fabrications.
The retractable tongue is intended to be positioned against this chamfer while adjusting by sliding on this portion of surface chamfered in such a way that the insert is placed against the shoulder and against this chamfer.
To cooperate with the chamfer, the tongue can form to its end a beveled end, which beveled end is intended to come in support in correspondence against the chamfer of the throat. This beveled end allows a slight slip of the clip against the chamfer to adjust the position of the insert relative to the body. This end beveled also makes it possible to increase a bearing surface of the tongue against the chamfer between the beveled end of the tongue and the chamfered portion.
Such a connector according to the invention has the advantage of no longer , require the use of glue to maintain the insert in the body.
The subject of the invention is therefore an electrical connector according to the features of claim 1.

l'insert 3.The
The
le corps 2.The
paroi 7.The
de l'axe 9 du connecteur et par rapport au corps 2.The embedding means 10 is then formed in such a way that
fits in the groove (s) 4. The means
the
To limit a possible rotational movement of the
The
The
A sliding of a surface 13 'formed by the
The
The method of mounting such an electrical connector is made of
in such a way that an assembly without play of the
appui contre le chanfrein 14 de la gorge 4.The method of mounting such an electrical connector is realized from the
following way. The
In the case where the
