Previous solutions for the continuous production of folding boxes or shell and slide packages are inadequate.

The invention is therefore based on the object to propose measures for a rational, in particular continuous production of hard packs in general and folding boxes or slide and sleeve packs in particular.

To solve this problem, the method according to the invention consists of the following features:
  • a) the outer sheath is prefabricated with a cross-sectionally closed, rectangular sleeve open at at least one end as outer packing unit,
  • b) the contents of the package are preprocessed separately using a thin-walled hollow body-folding mandrel-on the outside of the folding mandrel, the inner casing is attached and folded, and at least one additional packing part, in particular collar or slide,
  • c) the group of cigarettes is ejected from the folding mandrel with the entrainment of the inner sheath closed or folded in the region of a bottom wall and of the outer additional pack part, forming an inner packing unit,
  • d) the inner packing unit is inserted immediately after the folding mandrel into the open side of the outer casing held as a sleeve adjacent to the folding mandrel,
  • e) the package is then folded to completion, first folding flaps of an end wall of the inner wrapper and then folding flaps of the slider or a lid are folded.

The concept of the invention therefore consists of preparing or prefolding two packing units, namely the outer casing on the one hand and the pack contents - cigarette block - with an additional packing part (collar or slider) separately during the (continuous) transport along parallel, synchronously controlled movement paths and then these packing units to unite by transverse to the conveying direction movement. Thereafter, according to the invention, final folding steps are carried out to complete the package.

The inner packing unit is manufactured on a folding turret, which is equipped with Falthohlkörpem, namely Faltdomen. On the outside of the inner wrapper is prepared and positioned collar or slider. Inside is the cigarette group. The other, outer packing unit is prepared in synchronous with the folding domes and rectified circumferential pockets or corresponding brackets.

A special feature is that in a first Bewegungsstäkt the inner packing unit - cigarette block with collar or slider - inserted only with a portion in the box part or in the sleeve and then - namely after release from the folding mandrel - the folding of the inner blank, the slider and - in folding boxes - Folds are completed on the outer sheath before the contents of the package is completely inserted into the box part or in the sleeve.

Another special feature is the supply of the collar or the slider to the folding mandrel and the folding of this pack part.

The embodiments illustrated in the drawings are concerned with the production of hard packs for cigarettes. At least one outer wrapper is made of thin cardboard.

19. Der Schieber 13 besteht ebenfalls aus Karton.Fig. 1 shows a cigarette pack of the type slide and sleeve (shell and south). In this type of package, a cigarette block 10, consisting of a wrapped into an inner blank 11 cigarette group 12, arranged in an inner part of the pack, namely in a slide 13. This is U-shaped in cross-section, consists of slide wall 14, side bars 15, a Bottom flap 16 and a Stimiasche 17. The bottom flap 16 and end flap 17 each have a continuation, namely a plug-in tab 18 and 19. The slider 13 is also made of cardboard.

An (inner) packing unit formed from cigarette block 10 and slide 13 is arranged in an outer casing, namely in a sleeve 20. This is an outer packing unit with front wall 21, rear wall 22 and side walls 23 which is closed in cross section and open at both ends. In continuous production, the two packing units are conveyed in two parallel trajectories, folded or completed and then combined to form the package by means of transverse displacement.

US 4 750 607).A first folding turret, namely mandrel turret 24, deals with the preparation of the packaging unit consisting of cigarette block 10 and slide 13. The mandrel turret 24 has a multiplicity of folding mandrels 25 distributed along the circumference, ie thin-walled hollow bodies which are open at both ends. Inside the folding mandrel 25, which is rectangular in cross-section, there is a respective cigarette group 12. The groups of cigarettes 12 are fed to the mandrel turret 24 by an endless conveyor, namely by a pocket chain 26. In the region of a peripheral portion, the pocket chain 26 runs in axial alignment with the folding domes 25. The cigarette groups 12 are in this area from the pockets of the bag chain 26 in the axis-parallel direction off and inserted into an associated folding mandrel 25 (US 4,750,607).

Dieser fixiert die beiden Faltlappen des Innenzuschnitts 11 an der Seitenwand 28 des Faltdorns 25.With continued rotational movement of the mandrel turret 24, the folding mandrels 25, each with a cigarette group 12, reach the area of a blanking station 27. In the area thereof, an inner blank 11 is held ready and applied to the folding mandrel 25. The inner blank 11 is positioned so that 25 overlap at a rear side in the direction of rotation of the folding mandrel 25 folding flaps, of which a radially outer, inner folding flaps folded by a folding member 29 and then an outboard folding tab by a folding lever 30 against the side wall 28 becomes. The folding lever 30 is angularly formed with an approximately radially directed folding leg 31. This folds the two folding tabs of the inner blank 11 on the side wall 28 of the folding mandrel 25th

With continued rotation of the folding turret or mandrel 24, a bottom fold 32 of the inner blank 11 formed at the free end of the folding mandrel 25 by projecting folding tabs is produced, by conventional, known folding members.

In a special way, a following in the direction of movement of the mandrel turret 24 slide station 33 is formed. In the area of the same, a blank for forming the slider 13 is supplied and applied to the outside of the folding mandrel 25 and the inner blank 11 to form the packing unit of cigarette block 10 and slide 13. The blanks for the slide 13 are taken from a blank magazine 34 and unfolded a horizontal plane deflected into a vertical plane, by a guide roller 35. The blanks are then moved down in the vertical plane. The slider station 33 is mounted above the mandrel turret 24 rotating in a vertical plane. In the radial direction, the blanks of the slider 13 are fed to an associated folding mandrel 25 during the continued rotational movement (Figure 4). For deflecting the blank, the guide roller 35 is assigned a plurality of counter-rollers 36 arranged on the outer circumference.

Innenzuschnitt 11 gehaften. The slider 13 is transferred to the mandrel turret 24 so that an edge region abuts against a front side wall 37 of the folding mandrel 25 or the inner blank 11 that is in the direction of rotation. The blank of the slider 13 is conveyed transversely to the longitudinal extent. A in the conveying direction vomliegender side bar 15 receives contact with the side wall 37. By appropriate design of a feed roller 38 of the blank of the slider 13 then released and can be taken from the mandrel turret 25. The slider 13 is thereby fixed to the respective folding mandrel 25, namely on the front side wall 37, by a Andrückorgan, namely a pressure roller 39 which is attached to a lever 40 and due to appropriately controlled movement the blank of the slider 13 on the folding mandrel 25th or inner blank 11 stick.

Upon further movement of the mandrel turret 24, the slider 13 is folded around the folding mandrel 25 by known Faltorgane. A leg protruding in the direction of conveyance is folded over by a folding wheel 41 against the rear side wall 28 (FIG. 4, left). The folding lever 36 is briefly actuated on this occasion, such that the folding leg 31 lifted off and the side web 15 can be folded. This is then fixed by the folding lever 30 with.

In the further course of the rotational movement of the mandrel turret 24, the bottom flap 16 of the slider 13, including the associated insertion tab 18, is folded. Thus, the formed on the folding mandrel 25 inner packing unit is completed.

It is the sleeve 20. This is prepared in a mandrel turret 24 offset, parallel, upright level. For this purpose, finished, flat-folded sleeves 20 are removed from a sleeve magazine 42 and fed through a sleeve turret 43 to an intermediate turret 44. The sleeve turret 43 has a plurality of planar contact surfaces 45, which are arranged along the circumference, with an approximately radially directed transverse surface. At the contact surfaces 45, the sleeves 20 are each held with a large wall, through suction holes (not shown).

The intermediate turret 44 has pockets 46 as receptacles for the sleeves 20. When transferring to the intermediate turret 44, the sleeves 20 are erected in the three-dimensional shape. The sequence results from FIG. 5. The pockets 46 have movable, namely pivotable, lateral pocket walls 47, 48. When feeding the empty pockets 46 to take over a sleeve 20, the pocket walls 47, 48 are in an open, spread position (FIG. 5, bottom). The relative movement between the sleeve turret 43 and the intermediate turret 44 is controlled or chosen so that the sleeve 20 is conveyed with a folding edge 49 lying in the transporting direction against the pocket wall 47 of a pocket 46 lying in the direction of rotation of the lying pocket wall. A folding edge 50 lying diagonally opposite the rear side of the sleeve 20 is grasped by the other, following pocket wall 48. By moving together the pocket walls 47, 48, the sleeve 20 is erected.

The pockets 46 have a slightly curved bottom 51 on which the sleeve 20 rests with front wall 21 or rear wall 22. Furthermore, an end holder 52 is provided, which aligns the sleeve 20 in the pocket 46 in the axial direction.

US 5 979 140.The intermediate turret 24 transports the sleeves 20 to another revolver, namely a pocket turret 53. This forms the counterpart to the mandrel turret 24, is coaxially mounted therewith and is continuously driven in rotation and synchronously with the mandrel turret 24. In particular mandrel turret 24 and pocket turret 53 are designed as a turret unit with two partial revolvers, analogous to US Pat. No. 5,979,140.

The pocket turret 53 is provided along the circumference with receptacles for the sleeve 20, namely with sleeve pockets 54. Both brackets, namely folding mandrels 25 on the one hand and sleeve pockets 54 on the other hand are conveyed along endless, namely circular trajectories, with a folding mandrel 25 each associated sleeve pocket 54 in exact alignment with distance opposite. During the rotation of the two turrets 24 and 53, as far as applicable, convolutions are carried out or displacement movements. The transfer of the sleeves from the intermediate turret 24 takes place in such a way that the sleeve pockets 54 are in a retracted in the axis-parallel direction position. The sleeves 20 are now held in an area between the sleeve pockets 54 on the one hand and the folding mandrels 25 on the other hand in a take-up position. By axially parallel displacement of the sleeve pocket 54, the prepared sleeve 20 is received.

Die Hülse 20 liegt mit einer freien Kante an diesen Anschlägen an.If, in the region of the folding mandrels 25, the slider 13 is folded as shown in FIG. 8, ie with the insertion tab 18 resting on the cigarette block 10, but with the end tab 17 not yet folded, the two packing units are fed to one another. This is done in such a way that the holder of the sleeve 20, namely the sleeve pocket 54, in the axis-parallel direction, ie transversely to the conveying direction, the folding mandrel 25th The sleeve pocket 54 has in this position a relatively small distance from the facing free end of the folding mandrel 25. The sleeve pockets 54 are open on the folding mandrel 25 facing side, so that the Sleeve 20 is facing the folding mandrel 25 with a free opening. On the opposite side, the sleeve pocket 54 is attached to a support piece 55, which in turn is connected to the pocket turret 53. The sleeve pocket 54 further consists of a radially inner support wall 56 and an opposite, shorter outer wall 57. The front wall 21 and rear wall 22 of the sleeve 20 abut the support wall 56 and the outer wall 57 at. The exact position of the sleeve 20 within the sleeve pocket 54 is ensured by upper and lower stops 58, which are arranged in pairs on the inside of the support wall 56 on the one hand and outer wall 57 on the other. The sleeve 20 abuts against these stops with a free edge.

Diese Packungseinheit wird dabei in die offene Hülse 20 eingeschoben (Fig. 8, Fig. 9).In the position adjacent to the folding mandrel 25 of the sleeve pocket 54 with sleeve 20, the other packing unit is inserted into the sleeve 20. For this purpose, a plunger 59 is effective within the folding mandrel 25, which detects the cigarette group 12 and ausschiebt at the free end of the folding mandrel 25. Here, the folded on the outside of the folding mandrel 25 inner blank 11 and the partially folded slider 13 is subtracted from the folding mandrel 25. This packing unit is inserted into the open sleeve 20 (FIGS. 8, 9).

Within the sleeve 20 is a connected to the sleeve pocket 54 counter-holder 60, which is displaceable via a push rod 61. This counter-holder 60, which largely fills the cross-section of the sleeve 20, is initially moved as far as the free end of the sleeve 20. The unit supplied by pushing away from the folding mandrel 25 initially comes to bear against the bottom tab 16 of the slide 13 against this counterholder 60 (FIG. 6, FIG. 7). This area of the slide 13, namely bottom flap 16 and insertion tab 18, are thus fixed in the package-oriented form (FIG. 7).

On the counter-holder 60, a guide member is arranged on both sides, namely narrow, thin-walled guide webs 62. These are slightly divergent in the direction of the folding mandrel 25. They serve for detecting and holding the two side webs 15 of the slider 13 in the contact position on the cigarette block 10th

Des Weiteren kehrt die Hülsentasche 54 in die Ausgangsstellung zurück, nämlich mit größerem Abstand von dem Faltdorn 25 (Fig. 10).The anvil 60 is withdrawn in accordance with the delivery of the packing unit from the folding mandrel 25 in the sleeve 20 within the same, to a position in which the majority of the cigarette block 10 and slide 13 is positioned within the sleeve 20 (Fig. 9). Furthermore, the sleeve pocket 54 returns to the starting position, namely at a greater distance from the folding mandrel 25 (FIG. 10).

In this position, first the inner blank 11 and then the slider 13 are finished folded. In the position according to FIG. 10, inner front fold flaps are already folded. Longitudinal folding tabs 63 of the end wall are directed axially parallel. By folding members of known design, the longitudinal folding tabs 63 are successively folded upon rotation of the pocket turret 53 to form the recognizable in Fig. 1 typical Entfaltung the cigarette block 10. Thereafter, the frontal region of the slider 13 is folded, namely the end flap 17 and attached thereto the insertion tab 19th , and by a fixedly in the movement path of the packages or sleeve pockets 54 positioned folding switch 64 (Fig. 11). The unit cigarette block and slider 13 is now fully inserted into the sleeve 20, by movement of the sleeve pocket 54 with the sleeve 20 in the direction of the folding mandrel 25, wherein the cigarette block 10 and slider 13 are supported on the angle-shaped Faltweiche 64. The finished cigarette packs are now discharged from the pocket turret 53 to a discharge conveyor 65th

The production of cigarette packs of the folding box type (FIG. 2) proceeds in an analogous manner. The typical folding box consists of a one-piece blank 69 for forming box part 70 and lid 71. Within the box part 70, a collar 72 consisting of a separate blank is fixed. This surrounds the upper part of the cigarette block 10 with collar front wall 73 and collar flaps 74, 75. The collar 72 is folded in a U-shape, with the two collar flaps 74, 75 lying in the region of side walls.

The typical blank 69 for a folding box results in particular from Fig. 14 a). Thereafter, in a central portion of the elongate blank, front wall 76, bottom 77, rear wall 78, lid rear wall 79, end wall 80, lid front wall 81 and lid inner tabs 82 are formed as successive panels marked by fold lines. Outer side tabs 83, inner side tabs 84, bottom corner tabs 85, lid side tabs 86 (outside), lid side flaps 87 (inside) and lid corner flaps 88 extend to both sides of the blank 69.

The manufacture of the folding box designed in this way takes place in such a way that the blank described above forms the one packing unit and the cigarette group 12 with inner blank 11, that is the cigarette block 10 with collar 72, the second packing unit. Both packing units are manufactured separately from each other but in synchronously controlled working steps and combined with each other. The production or preparation takes place during the continuous transport along circular trajectories.

The sequence of the folding steps of both packing units is shown schematically in FIG. 14, wherein the simultaneously executed steps are contrasted with one another. First, the lid inner tab 82 of the blank is folded over (Figure 14b)). Thereafter, side folding flaps are erected, namely the inner side flaps 84 and 87 and corner flaps 85 and 88. The bottom corner flaps 85 are then folded into a position which is transverse to the packing namely (Fig. 14c)). According to Fig. 14 d), a part of the blank is erected as a leg, namely bottom 77 with front wall 76 and side tabs 83. This leg is then folded over again until it rests against the upright inner side lobe 84 and bottom corner tabs 86 outer side tabs 83 folded up against the inner side tabs 84 (Figure 14f)). This results in a one-sided, namely open at the top, sleeve-shaped packing part, namely the box part 70. In these, the unit of cigarette block 10 and collar 72 is now partially inserted (position Fig. 14 j)). After completion of final folding steps, the inner packing unit is completely inserted into the largely finished folded blank of the folding box. This is now completed by further folding steps in the area of the lid 71 - Fig. 14 k) to Fig. 14 m).

Fig. 4 ausgebildet. The two packing units are prepared in the area of parallel trajectories. The cigarette block 10 with collar 72 is transported and folded by a folding turret, namely by the mandrel turret 24. This is analogous to the mandrel turret 24 of Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 is formed. Instead of the slide station 33, a collar station 89 is formed here above the mandrel turret 24, which rotates in the vertical plane. In the area of the same are unfolded blanks of the collar 72 on a collar conveyor Fed 90 and analogously to the slide 13 in the radial direction of the mandrel turret 24 and applied to a folding mandrel 25 and an inner blank 11. The front in the transport direction of the collar 72 collar tabs 74 is applied to the forward direction of the mandrel turret 24 side wall 37 of the folding mandrel and fixed in this position by a movable holding member, namely by a pressure roller 39. Thereafter, the collar 72 by further folding organs, including folding 41, U-shaped around the inner blank 11 and the folding mandrel 25 folded around (Fig. 15). The entirety of the manufacturing or folding steps in the area of the mandrel turret 24 are shown schematically in the flow in FIG. 14 b) to FIG. 14 h).

The preparation or production of the outer packing unit, namely the folding steps of the blanking of the folding box, are carried out in several areas, wherein the blank passes through a plurality of conveyors or turrets, in the region of which individual folding steps are carried out. The apparatus is shown schematically in its entirety in Fig. 13, wherein the manufacture of the inner packing unit takes place in a first working plane defined by the mandrel turret 24 and the manufacture of the outer packing unit in a staggered second working plane parallel thereto, represented by a number of successive revolvers and ultimately by a pocket turret 53 is determined.

Ein Überwachungsorgan 92 kontrolliert die korrekte Faltung der Deckel-Innenlappen 82.The blanks for the folding box are fed as a continuous material web 91 with blanks directed transversely thereto (for example according to US Pat. No. 4,898,569). In the region of an upwardly directed conveyor section of the material web 91, the lid inner tabs 82 are continuously folded by known, stationary folding members. A monitoring member 92 controls the correct folding of the lid inner tabs 82.

In the area of a first turret, namely a separating turret 93, the individual blanks according to FIG. 14 a) are successively separated from the material web 91. The separating turret 93 has holding members for the material web 91 or the individual blanks for this purpose. These are each assigned to a blank holder 94. These have on the radially outward side suction members 95 for detecting and holding each one blank.

For separating the blanks 69 of the material web 91 separating members work together with the separating turret 93, namely separating rollers 96, 97. These are spaced from each other with a distance in the circumferential direction of the separating turret 33, corresponding to the width of a blank. The separation rollers 96, 97 each press blanks to the holder 94. Due to different rotational speeds - the second separation roller 97 has a greater peripheral speed than the separation roller 96 - the respective front blank is separated from the web 91 and then carried by a holder 94.

The individual blanks 69 are transferred from the separating turret 93 to a subsequent revolver, namely to a first folding turret 98. This one each takes a blank through a turret pocket 99. During the transport of the blanks through this folding turret 98, the folding steps shown in FIG. 14 c) to FIG. 14 f) are completed.

The largely folded blank 69 is then transferred from the first folding turret 98 to a second folding turret 100. Upon transfer, the laterally directed outer side flaps 83 are folded over to rest against the inner side flaps 84.

The folding turret 100 guides the blanks 69 in the folding position according to FIG. 14 g) to the pocket turret 53 positioned equiaxially to the mandrel turret 24. This is - similarly to the embodiment of FIG. 3 to FIG. 11 - equipped with blank pockets 101 which are displaceable in the direction parallel to the axis and form a third working plane in a retracted initial position.

Bei der Förderbewegung in Pfeilrichtung gemäß Fig. 16 werden die in einem ersten Faltschritt aufgerichteten Boden-Ecklappen 85 quergestellt (Fig. 14 d)).Construction and operation of the folding turrets 98 and 100 are shown only schematically in FIGS. 16, 17, 18 and 19. Folding steps are carried out in particular when transferring from one revolver to another. Thus, it is shown in FIG. 16 that the blanks which are flat in the region of the separating turret 93 are folded when taken over by a turret pocket 99 of the folding turret 98, namely lateral folding tabs according to FIG. 14 c) are set up by lateral pocket walls 102. In this folding step an initially moved radially outward pocket bottom 103 moves radially inward in the course of the folding process, ie in the turret pocket 99 inside. In the axial direction are the Turret pockets 99 sized so that areas of the lid and the front wall 76 are not detected (Fig. 14 c)). During the conveying movement in the direction of the arrow according to FIG. 16, the bottom corner flaps 85 erected in a first folding step are transposed (FIG. 14 d)).

During the transport of the blanks 69 through the first folding turret 98, a part of the blank consisting of bottom 77, front wall 76 and folding flaps connected thereto is first erected by known, stationary folding means (FIG. 14 e)) and then up to the position approximately parallel to the Rear wall 78 folded (shown in Fig. 14 f) position). Thus, the blank is transferred to the second folding turret 100. In this transfer step, in turn, side flaps are folded, namely the outer side flaps 83, in the package-oriented position shown in FIG. 14 g). When inserting the (folded) blanks in the blank pocket 101 movable, namely pivotable bag walls 104 are effective. These are moved from a spread, outwardly diverging relative position (Fig. 17, Fig. 18) during the transfer step of the blanks in a parallel closed position. The two side tabs 83 are successively folded. In this largely completed formation of the blank according to FIG. 14 g), the blank with finished folded box part 70 is transferred to the main turret, namely to the pocket turret 53.

The pocket turret 53 forms with the mandrel turret 24 in this embodiment, a turret unit. The pocket turret 53 is equipped with two offset in the axial direction retaining members for the packages or folded blanks. In the (second) work plane, mutually associated holding jaws 106 are provided for each blank. These detect the blanks supplied by the folding turret 100 in the folded position according to FIG. 14 g), in the region of opposite side walls of the box part 70 and lid 71. Packing pockets 107 are arranged on the circumference of the pocket turret 53, in each case in the axis-parallel direction a folding mandrel 25 of the adjacent mandrel turret 24 aligned. Packing pockets 107 and folding mandrels 25 are therefore arranged on a circular area of the same diameter. The packing pockets 107 are displaceable in the direction parallel to the axis, namely from a starting position (FIG. 20, FIG. 21) corresponding to the third working plane into a position for taking over the folded blanks (second working plane) according to FIG. 22, FIG The folded blanks or (empty) packs are Initially held by the holding jaws 106 (Fig. 20, Fig. 21). The holding jaws 106 are pivotally mounted, namely on relatively long pivot arms 108, 109 which are different in length with regard to a desired kinematics and are mounted approximately parallel to each other pivotally. A portion of the pivot arms 108, 109 facing the blanks or packs is U-shaped, including the holding jaws 106, forming an approximately central recess 110.

While the blanks / packs are kept ready in a position according to FIG. 20, FIG. 21, they are taken over by the packing pockets 107 by being displaced in the axis-parallel direction. The packing pockets 107 consist of a radially inner bottom plate 111, of finger-like side guides 112 and a radially outer upper guide 113. Base plate 111 and upper guide 113 lie opposite each other in the area of (radially inner) rear wall 78 on the one hand and the radially outer front wall 76 on the other hand. The bottom plate 111 extends into the region of the lid rear wall 79, while the upper guide 113 has a smaller dimension. The side tabs 83, 84, which are not yet joined together by adhesive bonding, are grasped by the side guide 112. This occurs during the displacement of the packing pocket 107 into a groove-like depression 114 of the two holding jaws 106. After taking over a package or a blank through a packing bag 107, the holding jaws 106 can be moved apart releasing the package or the blank 69.

Hierzu dient ein ortsfestes, schienenartiges Faltorgan 115 mit winkelförmigem Profil (Fig. 26).It now begins the union of the two packing units. For this purpose, in the manner described in connection with the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 to 11, the inner packing unit is pushed away from the folding mandrel 25, including collar 72. Previously, unfolded parts of the lid 71, namely lid rear wall 79 are not yet folded , End wall 80 and lid front wall 81 with lid inner tabs 82 deformed radially inwardly to form a funnel-like position (Figure 23). Furthermore, lateral folding flaps, namely lid corner flaps 88, are also shaped into an oblique, funnel-shaped position (Figure 22). The not yet interconnected by gluing side tabs 83, 84 are slightly offset from each other, so that the box part 70 is open to the open side by tilting the front wall 76 slightly funnel-shaped. The top wall or upper guide 113 of the packing pockets 107 is correspondingly beveled on the inside. Now the cigarette block 10 are pushed by the plunger 59 into the packaging, in part, namely such that a frontal area of the cigarette block is exposed (FIG. 24). Folding tabs of an end-side folding of the cigarette block 10, namely longitudinal folding tabs 63, pointing in the direction parallel to the axis can now be folded as a result of continued rotational movement of the turret to form the complete creasing of the cigarette block 10. The still unfolded part of the lid 71, namely end wall 80 and lid front wall 81 are now folded into the closed position corresponding to Fig. 14 I). This purpose is served by a stationary, rail-like folding member 115 with an angular profile (FIG. 26).

The box part. 70 of the folding box is also completed, namely from the funnel-shaped opening position (Fig. 23) folded into the package-oriented position with complete coverage of the side tabs 83 and 84. Furthermore, the folding tabs to be joined together by glue are now connected by activation of corresponding glue surfaces. For this purpose, the blanks 69 are provided in the area of folding flaps to be joined together by glue in (industrial) production with glue surfaces which can be activated or reactivated by the action of heat and / or pressure or in another way. For example, the respective folding flaps can be provided with hot-melt glue. After completion of the package (Fig. 26) the respective folding flaps are connected by activating the glue surfaces.

The folding steps described last are carried out with the packing pockets 107 withdrawn, that is to say in the third working plane. In this position, the packing pockets 107 have a greater distance from the folding mandrels 25 (Fig. 24 to Fig. 26). After folding the longitudinal folding tabs 63, moreover, the cigarette block 10 is completely inserted into the packaging or into the box part 70 (FIG. 25). Thereafter, the lid 71 is completed.

The finished packages are taken over by a discharge conveyor 116 and transported away. In this case, the procedure is such that the finished packages are returned to the holding jaws 106 by axially parallel displacement of the packing pockets 107 in the position facing the folding mandrels 25 (middle working plane). The jaws are by appropriate movement of the pivot arms 108, 109 against the sides the pack bags 107 drove. By retracting the packing pockets 107 into a position according to FIG. 20, FIG. 21, the finished packs are returned to the holding jaws 106. A star-shaped transfer conveyor 117 can now take over the packages 10 by entering the recess 110 of the holding jaws 106 and the discharge conveyor 116 out.
