Claims (16)

  1. Holding device (4) for two fittings (5) of two elongate gas discharge lamps (3) to be arranged in a luminaire (1) beside one another, comprised of a base body (10) and two carrier arms (30), each for one fitting (5), provided on the base body (10),
    characterised in that,
    the carrier arms (30) are so pivotable with respect to the base body (10) that the fittings (5) located on the carrier arms (30 have a selectable spacing,
    wherein in addition the length of the carrier arms (30) is selectively adjustable, and
    wherein the length of the carrier arms (30) can be extended by a translatory movement effected in one direction with respect to the base body (10).
  2. Holding device according to claim 1,
    characterised in that,
    the carrier arms (30) can carry out a translatory movement for adjusting their length with respect to the base body (10).
  3. Holding device according to claim 2,
    characterised in that,
    the carrier arms (30) are mounted slidingly with respect to the base body (10).
  4. Holding device according to claim 3,
    characterised in that,
    the carrier arms (30) have each an elongate guide slot (40) into which there engages a guide pin (23) arranged on the base body (10).
  5. Holding device according to claim 4,
    characterised in that,
    at the two ends of a guide slot (40) there is arranged in each case a latch opening (39a, 39b) cooperating with the guide pin (23).
  6. Holding device according to claim 5,
    characterised in that,
    the latch openings (39a) lying more remotely from the fittings (5) define the pivot axes for the carrier arms (30).
  7. Holding device according to any of claims 2 to 6,
    characterised in that,
    the two carrier arms (30) are adjustable between a first position and a second position, wherein the fittings (5) located on the carrier arms (30) have in the first position a lesser spacing from one another than in the second position,
    and in that the carrier arms (30), for achieving the second position with respect to the base body (10), carry out both a translatory movement and a pivot movement.
  8. Holding device according to claim 7,
    characterised in that,
    the first position is an assembly position in which the carrier arms (30) are to be equipped with the fittings (5), and
    in that the second position is a user position in which the carrier arms (30) are located during luminaire operation.
  9. Holding device according to claim 7 or 8,
    characterised in that,
    the two carrier arms (30), upon transition from the first position into the second position, at first carry out the translatory movement and then the pivot movement.
  10. Holding device according to any of claims 7 to 9,
    characterised in that,
    the two carrier arms (30) are lockable with respect to the base body (10) both in the first position and in the second position.
  11. Holding device according to claim 10,
    characterised in that,
    the base body (10) and the carrier arms (30) have cooperating latch and guide elements (19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 36, 37, 39a, 39b, 40, 41).
  12. Holding device according to claim 11,
    characterised in that,
    the latch and guide elements (36, 37, 39a, 39b, 40, 41) located on the carrier arms (30) are arranged symmetrically of the middle axis of the respective carrier arm (30).
  13. Holding device in accordance with any preceding claim,
    characterised in that,
    the carrier arms (30) have in each case, at their ends away from the base body (10), a recess (32) for receiving a fitting (5).
  14. Holding device according to claim 13,
    characterised in that,
    the recess (32) has a contour corresponding to a fluorescent lamp fitting.
  15. Holding device according to claim 13 or 14,
    characterised in that,
    the carrier arms (30) have through openings (43) for passage of electrical lines, which extend from the upper end side of a carrier arm (31) up to the recess (32) for the fitting.
  16. Two-lamp luminaire (1) with two elongate gas discharge lamps (3) arranged beside one another, which are held and supplied with current in each case via two fittings (5),
    characterised by
    two holding devices (4) for the fittings (5), in accordance with any preceding claim, arranged on the end faces of the luminaire (1).
