Abstract

The stacking process involves taking the printed products (28) to a pre-stacking shaft (20) with an input from a device (12) supplying the added sheets (14). There is a shaft (36) below this which can turn 180degrees on its axis (38) to take a part stack (34) from the pre-stacking shaft. Each part stack can be formed in the pre-stacking device on an added sheet, so that in the complete stack (54), the part stacks are separated from each other by it.

Description

6.The present invention relates to a method and a device for producing stacks of printed products provided with an additional sheet having the features of the preamble of patent claims 1 and 6, respectively.

A method and apparatus of this kind are known, for example, from CH-A-667 065 and corresponding US-A-4,565,130.

Below a Vorstapelschachtes, in which the supplied from above printed products are stacked to pre-stacking, there is a shaft which after each rotation by 180 °, the pre-stack against each other are rotated rotated. The cover sheets processed in a device for providing loose and printed cover sheets are introduced into the shaft by means of a cover sheet conveyor so that in each case a printed cover sheet comes to rest on the finished stack or below the stack to be built up in the shaft.

Die EP-A-0 968 947 und die entsprechende US-A-6,241,233 offenbaren eine Vorrichtung, bei welcher gleichzeitig mit dem Ausstossen eines Fertigstapels aus dem Schacht ein Deckblatt in den Schacht hineingezogen wird, auf welchem der nächste Stapel zu liegen kommt.EP-A-0 968 947 and corresponding US-A-6,241,233 disclose an apparatus in which, at the same time as the ejection of a finished stack from the shaft, a cover sheet is drawn into the shaft upon which the next stack comes to rest.

In a method known from EP-A-0 894 721 and a corresponding device, the Prefabricated stack of mutually rotated by 180 ° deposited part stacks using a slide ejected from the shaft and fed to a printer and boom, by means of which the stack is equipped with a cover sheet. Again with the help of a slider, the loaded stack is conveyed to a strapping position and strapped.

Another method and apparatus for protecting wrapping of printed products are known from WO-A-00/34127. Stacks of printed products each having an edge which is distinguished by an increased thickness are enveloped in such a way that those stack sides in which the marked edges are arranged are completely covered by the covering and thus well protected. Since the said stacks are less stable in a direction transverse to the excellent edges, the stacks parallel to the excellent edges are ejected from a stacking shaft in which they are formed directly between the forks of a fork pair. The stack is pressed between the forks and the fork pair together with the pressed stack is passed through a curtain of wrapping material. The wrapping material is then closed around the fork pair and around the stack, and the wrapped stack is then separated from the pair of forks by a relative movement between the fork pair and the stack and conveyed away. A press fork may be equipped with a movable tray for a cover sheet to be applied to a stack in the eject position, or for applying another flat product. When separating from the wrapped stack and fork pair the tray is pulled out of the wrapper with the fork pair and the wrapper remains on the stack.

Der fertige Teilstapel wird dann durch Auseinanderfahren der Schieberplatten auf einen heb- und senkbaren Schachtboden abgesetzt.EP-A-0 586 802 and corresponding US-A-5,370,382 disclose an apparatus for forming stacks of folded printed products in which a pre-stacking shaft is closed at the bottom by slide plates and above the slide plates intermediate tray elements are insertable into the stacking tray on which Beginning of a partial stack formation the supplied printed products are stored on each other. As soon as a certain number of printed products are stacked, the intermediate floor elements are pulled out of the stacking shaft, whereby the stacked printed products fall on the slide plates and the partial stack is completed while supplying further printed products. The finished part stack is then discontinued by moving apart the slide plates on a raised and lowered shaft bottom.

According to the known methods and with the known devices, the receiver-specific number of printed products are stacked into a finished stack and provided with a cover sheet, then wrapped with a film or bound by means of a tape. If several receivers successively deliver a smaller number of printed products, the finished stacks are brought together with the correspondingly small number of printed products, stacked and wrapped again or tied for transport and handling. This requires devices for temporary storage, stacking one another and wrapping or binding the finished stack.

It is therefore an object of the present invention, the known method and the generic device in such a way that can be dispensed with said additional devices.

6 aufweist. This object is achieved by a generic method and with a generic device, which or which has the features in the characterizing part of claim 1 and 6 respectively.

According to the invention, an additional sheet is arranged between two adjacent part stacks. It may be for separating stacked sub-stacks, a release sheet, which is for example colored and unprinted or printed. Preferably, this is done by jeweis an additional sheet is inserted into a Vorstapelschacht in which the printed products are stacked to the sub-stacks. Since it is no longer necessary for each reception-specific ready-made stack to be wrapped, tied or strapped on its own, the packaging, i. Enveloping, strapping or strapping and the removal of the finished stack a large cycle time available.

The stacking device 10 has a pre-stacking device 18, the pre-stacking shaft 20 is limited on all four sides by means of guide profiles 22 and bottom of two retractable into the pre-stacking shaft 20 and extendable from this slide plates 24. At a distance above the slide plates 24, for example, fork-like intermediate floor elements 26 are retractable into the pre-stacking shaft 20 and out of it again extendable. The structure and operation of this pre-stacking device 18 and its interaction with a rotatable shaft located thereunder are known from EP-A-0 586 802 and corresponding US-A-5,370,382.

The pre-stacking device 18 are printed products 28, in the present case folded newspapers, fed in dandruff formation by means of a feed conveyor 30 designed as a belt conveyor such that the pre-stacking shaft 20 is fed from above.

Furthermore, the pre-stacking device 18 is associated with the device 12 for feeding the additional sheets 14 such that the outlet 32 having a conveyor roller pair for the cover sheets 14 opens from the side immediately above the slide plates 24 into the pre-stacking shaft 20. In FIG. 1, a printed additional sheet 14 - a so-called cover sheet - rests on the slide plates 24 inserted in the pre-stacking shaft 20, on which a partial stack 34 of a certain number, in the present case five, printed products 28 is located. As indicated by arrows, the intermediate floor elements 26 are retracted into the pre-stacking shaft 20 in order to stack the next printed products 28 supplied thereto by the feed conveyor 30 until the partial stack 34 has been discharged from the pre-stacking shaft 20 by extending the slide plates 24, the slide plates 24 retracted again into the Vorstapelschacht 20 and optionally a new additional sheet 14 has been introduced for the next part of stack 34 in the pre-stacking shaft 20.

Below the pre-stacking device 18, the stacking device 10 has a shaft 36 which is rotatable about a vertical central axis of rotation 38 and the shaft bottom 40 by means of a corresponding drive can be raised and lowered. After each take over a partial stack 34, the shaft 36 can be rotated by 180 ° about the axis of rotation 38, so that in this successive stacked part 34 are each rotated by 180 ° relative to each other. To the Fall height of the sub-stacks 34 when pulling the slide plates 24 from the pre-stacking shaft 20 to reduce and thus achieve a high quality of stacking, the shaft bottom 40 is raised so far until he or the top of the stacked on him printed products 28 at a short distance below the slide plates 24 is located. During the subsequent lowering of the shaft bottom 40, the slide plates 24 are retracted again into the pre-stacking shaft 20 as soon as the complete discharged partial stack 34 is in the shaft 36.

In the shaft 14 is a finished stack 54 of five sub-stacks 34, wherein between the sub-stacks 34 depending an additional sheet 14 is arranged. These additional sheets 14 are preferably colored, optionally unprinted release sheets. By means of these separator sheets, the separation of the partial stack 34 is particularly easy to recognize.

The shaft 36 is bounded at its four corners by a respective extending in the vertical direction angle section 42, 42 '. The arranged in an ejection direction A at the upstream end of the shaft 36 arranged angle profiles are 42, the arranged at the downstream end angle profiles 42 '. The angle profiles 42 are each attached to an upper and a lower endless chain 44, which is seen in the ejection direction A at the upstream and at the downstream end of the shaft 36 is guided around corresponding sprockets 46. Correspondingly, the angle profiles 42 'are each arranged on a further upper and a further lower chain 48, which are guided around further sprockets 50, which are mounted coaxially to the sprockets 46. By means of a drive motor 52, the opposing angle profiles 42 are synchronously movable by the simultaneous drive of the corresponding chains 44, wherein the drive motor 52 is connected via a reverse gear with the arranged on the other side of the shaft 36 chains 44. In a corresponding manner, the angle profiles 42 'can be driven synchronously by means of a further drive motor, not shown.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, the angle profiles 42, 42 'are moved by means of the drive motors 52 into a position in which they delimit the slot 36 in such a way that a gap exists between them and the printed products 28 to be stacked or already stacked, to allow lifting and lowering by means of the shaft bottom 40 without damaging the printed products 28 arranged thereon. However, the angle profiles 42, 42 'are in such a position that the printed products 28 can not slip out of the shaft 36 at all.

To rotate the shaft 36, the angle profiles 42, 42 'arranged on the two sides of the shaft 36 are each moved toward one another by means of the drive motors 52 until they rest on the stacked printed products 28. As a result, a very fast rotation of the shaft 36 is ensured, without the danger that in the shaft 36 existing printed products 28 are moved or rotated.

For ejecting a finished stack 54 in the ejection direction A from the shaft 36 and simultaneous feeding to Umreifungsstation 16, the other angle profiles 42 'or these are initially moved together with the angle profiles 42 in the ejection direction A, whereby on the one hand, the angle profiles 42' from the path of movement of the finished stack 54th also move around the associated further sprockets 50 in the region of the outer return strand of the other chains 48 and on the other hand, the angle sections 42 ' eject the finished stack 54 from the shaft 36. Once the ejection process is completed, the angle profiles 42 and 42 'are returned by means of the drive motors 52 in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

Dazu geeignete Vorrichtungen sind aus dem Stand der Technik bekannt.FIG. 3 shows a finished stack 54 formed in the shaft 36 during the ejection in the ejection direction A by means of the angle profiles 42. The angle profiles 42 ', not shown here, are located outside the path of movement of the finished stack 54 in the area of the return strand of the corresponding further chains 48 ejected finished stack 54 was strapped in the strapping station 16 by means of a belt 56 and is located for transporting away on a trained as a belt conveyor elevator 58. As indicated by dash-dotted lines, in the strapping 16 of the finished stack 54 before strapping with a belt 56 in a known manner be wrapped with a film 60. In this case, the strapping station 16 is designed as a wrapping and strapping station, or the strapping station 16 is preceded by a wrapping station, to which the finished stacks 54 coming from the stacking device 10 are fed first. For this purpose, suitable devices are known from the prior art.

For completeness, it should be mentioned that the shaft bottom 40 is formed in a cross shape, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 can be removed. On the one hand, this enables the stacking of printed products 28 having a format that is smaller than the length of the shaft bottom 40 measured in the ejection direction A, since the profiles 42 and 42 'can move past the arms of the shaft bottom 40 in the ejection direction A. At the same time, however, the stability for the stacked printed products 28 by the perpendicular to the ejection direction A extending arms of Well bottom 40 guaranteed. On the other hand, the ejection of a finished stack 54 can already begin during the lowering of the shaft bottom 40 in its lower end position.

At the time shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a finished stack in the shaft 36 is formed, each of which a layer forming part stack 34 are separated by a respective additional sheet 14 from each other. The finished stack 54 is ejected in the ejection direction A from the shaft 36 and the Umreifungsstation 16 fed, while in the Vorstapeleinrichtung 18 already the first part of stack 34 of the next finished stack 54 to be formed has been formed. This partial stack 34 rests on a cover sheet - additional sheet - 14, which has been fed into the pre-stacking shaft 20 through the outlet 32. The intermediate floor elements 26 are moved into the pre-stacking shaft 20 in order to stack thereon the next following printed products 28 delivered by the feeder 30. As soon as the finished stack 54 has been ejected from the shaft 36, the shaft bottom 40 is raised below the slide plates 24, whereupon these are pulled out of the pre-stacking shaft 20 and the partial stack 34 resting thereon with the additional blade 14 comes to rest on the shaft bottom 40. After retraction of the slide plates 24, a new additional sheet 14 - a separator sheet - fed and the intermediate floor elements 26 are extended from the Vorstapelschacht 20, to then complete the lying on the additional sheet 14 parts stack 34 on the slide plates 24. Meanwhile, the shaft 36 is rotated about the axis of rotation 38 by 180 ° and the shaft bottom 40 raised so far that the uppermost product of the resting thereon partial stack 34 is located a short distance below the slide plates 24, to then pull out the slide plates 24 from the Pre-stacking shaft 20 to the next sub-stack take. Here, too, the lowermost sub-stack 34 of the future ready-made stack 54 has an additional sheet 14 - the cover sheet - on; the partial stacks 34 are separated from one another by means of a dividing sheet and have the corresponding number of printed products 28.

It is also possible, if a receiver is associated with a large number of printed products 28, to arrange two or more partial stacks 34 between a cover sheet and a separating sheet which are not separated by another additional sheet 14 but offset from one another by 180 ° are.

Since the device 12 for supplying and optionally providing and printing the additional sheets 14 is associated with the pre-stacking device 18, a large processing capacity is achieved. This even more so when the pre-stacking device 18 is provided with intermediate floor elements 26.

A device for feeding, providing and printing of cover sheets may, for example, be designed in such a way that a paper web drawn off from a supply roll is printed and a portion is separated from it by means of a cutting device during feeding into the pre-stacking shaft. It is of course also conceivable that subtracted from a magazine additional sheets, these optionally printed and then introduced into the Vorstapelschacht 20. In order to enable a large processing capacity, each stacking device 10 is preferably assigned its own device 12 for supplying and possibly providing and printing the additional sheets 14.

The feed conveyor 30 may also be a staple conveyor in which each printed product 28 is held by a staple fed to the pre-stacking tray 20, as disclosed, for example, in CH-A-667 065 and corresponding US-A-4,565,130, DE -A-27 52 513 or DE-A-31 30 945 is known.

For the sake of completeness, it should be mentioned that the outlet 32 of the device 12 for feeding the additional sheets 14 can also open at a greater distance above the slide plates 24 in the pre-stacking shaft 20, so that the cover sheets 14 each come to rest on the partial stack 34. Preferably, as shown in FIG. 1, the outlet 32 is located at the slide plates 24.

The well 36 may also be formed as known in the art. The shaft 36 does not necessarily have to be rotatable about its axis.

It is also an ejection of ready stacks 54 against the ejection direction A possible; For this purpose, a removal conveyor is arranged on the side of the stacking device 10 facing away from the strapping station 16.

A rotatable shaft 36 is rotated according to need before receiving a further sub-stack 34 or not rotated. Thus, additional sheets 14 can be arranged between identically aligned sub-stacks 34.

All functions of the device are controlled by a controller, not shown.
