Description

The invention relates to a vehicle roof with a sunroof having a frame inserted into a vehicle roof opening, wherein the vehicle roof opening extends to both sides of a middle region of the vehicle roof carried by struts of the vehicle and wherein the frame has at least two longitudinal frame parts, which the longitudinal edges the vehicle roof opening.

Such vehicle roofs with a sliding roof, which covers the largest part of the vehicle roof, have only been used for a short time. Large in this context means that the vehicle roof opening is located not only in the front part of the vehicle roof, but extends almost over the entire length of the roof and thereby also includes an area which is located between usually called B-pillar struts of the vehicle.

The problem here is that the roof contributes to the stiffening of the body. In side collisions, where the B-pillar bears the main load, it is supported on a floor spar and a roof spar. This gives way when the roof is weakened by the roof opening. This results in deep intrusions of the B-pillar in the passenger compartment, which can lead to injury to vehicle occupants.

To avoid this, the vehicle roof is usually reinforced with hoops, at least one of which extends between the two B-pillars in the central area of the roof. If the roof is interrupted by the vehicle roof opening, such bows can not be used. So far, the frame has been made relatively stiff. However, this is usually associated with a high weight of the frame, which runs contrary to the goal of building a vehicle as easy as possible.

So the discussed EP 0 999 080 A2 a way to stiffen a vehicle roof, wherein a cross member is arranged by means of brackets on the vehicle frame at the height of the B-pillars, and can be used for additional attachment of sunblinds, lighting equipment or storage compartments.

From the DE 32 22 419 For example, a vehicle roof is known which, however, has only a small vehicle roof opening in front of the B pillars. In these, the rear transverse frame part is extended laterally to the roof spar and forms in this way a bow. Also the DE 30 32 122 deals with the stiffening of a roof, which is provided with a vehicle roof opening. Again, this is only in front of the B-pillars. However, the frame of the sliding roof extends over the central region of the roof to the rear and forms a cassette there for receiving the pushed back sunroof part. A transverse reinforcement is provided in the area of the B-pillars, which is laterally connected to a bent at the roof opening edge down flange.

It has also been thought to connect the roof rails with a bow, which runs under the frame. However, since the frame dips relatively deep into the passenger compartment depending on the design, the bow can not directly support the forces introduced into the roof, but rather kinks down, whereby its stiffening effect is lost.

The invention is thus based on the problem of stiffening a roof with a longitudinally extended roof opening for receiving a frame for a sliding roof sufficiently.

To solve the problem, the invention provides that in the central region of the vehicle roof between the two longitudinal frame parts is supported on the inside and fastened there cross member is present.

So instead of reinforcing the frame parts, an additional cross strut between the longitudinal frame parts is drawn. In this way, the frame is stiffened by simple means, so that in a side impact the roof has a sufficient strength, so that the B-pillar does not buckle inwardly due to the impact.

It has been found that the stiffening is particularly effective especially when the cross member is in the upper part of the frame, ie at the height of the vehicle roof. In particular, the longitudinal frame members have an outwardly facing flange with which they are attached to the underside of the vehicle roof. In about this height, the cross strut is connected to the longitudinal frame parts.

The cross strut can be relatively easily connected to the longitudinal frame members by beak-shaped projections are on the inner sides, which are provided with a slot. In this slot, the flat ends of the crossbar are inserted and welded there, riveted or otherwise secured.

Further also suitable types of fastening are described below in the embodiment.

The longitudinally extended frame makes it possible to use two sliding roof parts, namely a front sliding and a rear immovable sliding roof part, wherein the transverse strut extends below the abutting edge between the two sliding roof parts. This results, on the one hand, in a certain aesthetic impression, since the abutting edge is optically concealed. On the other hand, there is also a technical reason: in the region of the abutting edges of the sunroof parts, the stiffening of the frame by the sunroof parts itself is particularly weak, so that just here an additional cross brace is necessary.

The longitudinal frame parts furthermore have a guide rail for the displaceable sliding roof part, wherein the transverse strut is supported above the guide rail on the longitudinal frame part. In these rails, the front sunroof part can be guided directly. Here, however, a mechanism can be performed, which allows to guide the front sunroof part on the rear sunroof part.

As is common practice, the crossbar may be stiffened with beads and / or ribs extending in its longitudinal direction. In addition, it may, viewed in the transverse direction of the vehicle, be a little convex upwards. These are also measures that counteract a sudden buckling of the crossbar under load. Due to the slightly convex curvature results in a tension that withstands high loads or gives way only hesitantly. To this convex To achieve curvature, the slots that receive the ends of the crossbar, obliquely directed upward.

Another solution provides that in the event that the sunroof consists of two, namely a front sliding and a rear stationary sunroof part, the cross member is connected to the rear sunroof part.

Such sunroofs are used in particular when both sliding roof parts are made transparent. In order to prevent solar radiation in this case, blinds or slats are guided on the guide rails of the longitudinal frame parts.

First, on the FIG. 1 Referenced. This shows a frame 1 for a vehicle roof opening, which is composed of aluminum profiles. It has in detail two parallel longitudinal frame parts 2 and a front and a rear transverse frame part 3. At the rear transverse frame part, the rear part, a roller 4 is fixed with a roller blind.

The frame 1 is screwed to a vehicle roof opening in approximately the same size from the bottom, wherein on or in the frame a front sunroof part and a rear sunroof part are arranged, which close the frame and thus the vehicle roof opening.

Between the two longitudinal frame parts 2 there is a transverse strut 5, which divides the frame opening into a front, slightly larger part 6 and a rear, slightly smaller part 7.

After the frame 1 is inserted into a vehicle roof opening, is the cross member 5, which is not shown here in detail, approximately between the B pillars of the vehicle, which carry the roof.

Usually, the high struts of the vehicle side parts are referred to as A, B and C pillars, wherein the A pillars form the front boundary of the passenger compartment and represent in their upper regions part of the frame of the windshield. Limit the B-pillars the frame for the front side doors to the rear. Finally, the C-pillars form the rear boundary of the passenger compartment.

The longitudinal frame parts 2 (see also Fig. 2 and 3 ) are formed of aluminum profiles which have approximately a U-shaped cross-section, with an outwardly directed flange serves as a mounting flange 8, with which the frame is attached to the underside of the roof opening edge. Further flanges 9 serve as a support or as a rail for the sliding roof parts or for the roller blind.

According to a non-inventive embodiment is located on the inwardly directed side of the profile in the upper part of a beak-shaped extension 10 which forms a slot 11. This slot 11 serves to receive the flattened ends of the crossbar 5, as well in FIG. 2 can be seen. This is also clear in the cross-sectional representation of FIG. 3 , Here you can see again the function of the flanges of the longitudinal frame part. The mounting flange 8 is fixed to the underside of the stopped edge 12 of the vehicle roof. An upper end edge 13 of the outer wall of the profile is used to attach a seal 14 between the edge 12 of the vehicle roof and a sunroof part.

Other small flanges 9, which are directed inwards on the inner wall of the U-shaped profile, serve to guide the roller blind. In the profile is what is not shown here, a sliding mechanism to push back to the opening of the front frame part, the front sunroof part to the rear can.

In the sectional view is also again good to see that the cross member 5 is convexly curved upward, and that the slot 10 is slightly obliquely upwards aligned.

The forces, which are introduced according to the arrow 15 shown in the vehicle roof, are thus introduced directly into the transverse strut 5, which generates by their arc shape sufficient drag.

Again FIG. 2 can be seen, the cross strut 5 beads and grooves on to avoid premature buckling.

FIG. 4 shows again a longitudinal section through the sunroof. It can be seen that the transverse strut 5 is located below the abutting edge between the front and the rear sunroof part 16, 17. It can also be seen that the sunroof parts are stabilized by stiffening profiles 18, 19, wherein the stiffening profile 19 of the rear sunroof part 17 engages under the front sunroof part 16 and carries a seal 20 for closing the abutting edge. Below the transparently designed sunroof parts 16, 17 are movable sunblinds 21, which are held on the already mentioned guides on the longitudinal frame parts 2.

With the cross strut 5, which extends between the two longitudinal frame members 2, an effective stiffening of the extended in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle frame is effected. The weakening of the roof, which is associated with the large vehicle roof opening, is effectively compensated in this way. The arrangement is simple and blends harmoniously into the sunroof construction.

The FIGS. 5 and 6 show an inventive embodiments of the compound of the cross member 5 with the longitudinal frame members 2. For this purpose, the longitudinal frame part has a vertically extending flange 22. Parallel thereto is the angled end 23 of the transverse strut 5, which rests either on the inside of the flange 22 or is inserted in a slot 22a in the flange 22 from above. In both cases, the end 23 of the cross member 5 is screwed to the flange 22 in the overlapping area by means of a plurality of screws 24.

Dazu wird die Querstrebe 5 mit dem Glasdeckel 25 verklebt oder zumindest teilweise mit diesem zusammen umschäumtThe cross strut can also, as in the FIGS. 5 and 6 shown in the rear sunroof part, which is designed here as a transparent and non-displaceable glass cover 25, be integrated. For this purpose, the cross member 5 is glued to the glass cover 25 or at least partially foamed together with this

The cross strut 5 can also be used as a holder for attachments, z. B. of reading lamps, serve for the rear row of seats of the vehicle.
