Abstract
The invention solves the problem of regulating the active position of an arm-rest of a seat in a vehicle, especially in a car. The arm-rest features the mechanism of regulating the active position. This mechanism is made up of the button (1) which through the lever (2) drives the ratchet-wheel (3) that is permanently connected with the cam (4). The cam (4) has the profile which is formed by rectilinear segments having a variable distance from the axis of rotation. The number of segments of the cam (4) corresponds to the number of active positions of the arm-rest. One of the rectilinear segments of the cam (4) rests on the resisting element (5) which is permanently fixed on the pin (6). The notches of the ratchet-wheel (3) are mated with the ratchet mechanism of the lever (7). The ratchet-wheel (3) connected with the cam (4), the ratchet-lever (7) and the resisting element (5) placed on the pin (6) are all mounted in the casing (9) which by means of the pin (6) is attached to the fastening support of the arm-rest (8).
Description
Arm-rest of a seat in a vehicle
The subject of the invention is the arm-rest of a seat in a vehicle, especially in a car There are many different types of arm-rests Some of them take only the passive position and one active position In the others the user may employ the step regulation of the active position
In another arm-rest there is a drum attached to the tunnel of the car This drum is furnished with a toothed segment featuring notches corresponding to working positions and a single notch corresponding to the passive position The body of the arm-rest contains a lever with a tooth, which is controlled through a strand by means of a button situated at the front of the arm-rest The tooth of the lever meshes with the notch corresponding to one of the working positions or with the notch of the passive position In order to change the position of the armrest it is necessary to perform two actions at the same time to draw back the lever by means of the button-strand system and to apply force so as to shift the arm-rest to a selected position The release of the button causes the tooth of the lever mesh with the notch of the toothed segment
The shortcoming of the described solution is a significant size of the whole device, which limits the functionality of the arm-rest furnished with such a mechanism
The aim of the invention is the development of the arm-rest which will enable the user to regulate the working position and which will be free of the earlier-mentioned shortcomings This aim has been achieved due to the construction of the arm-rest whose position-changing mechanism consists of a ratchet-wheel permanently connected with a cam having the profile formed by rectilinear segments, with each of the segments corresponding to one working position of the arm-rest The cam mates with a resisting element permanently fixed on the pin, which is shaped in such a way so as to ensure unmistakably specified, unchangeable position of the resisting element The resisting element together with the pin on which it is placed are permanently fixed either to the side of the back of the seat or to the floor in the vehicle's interior by means of the arm-rest's support The ratchet-wheel is driven through the lever by means of a button and it performs a rotary motion in one direction The notches of the ratchet- wheel are mated with the ratchet mechanism of the lever
Apart from the small size of the mechanism the solution used in the invention in question also has one more advantage when returning from the passive to the active position the last selected active position of the arm-rest is memorised
The subject of the invention has been closely explained in the example of constructing the device shown in the drawing depicting the arm-rest in the longitudinal section According to the invention the arm-rest features a button \ at the front, which through the lever 2 drives the ratchet-wheel 3 permanently connected with the cam 4 The notches of the ratchet-wheel 3 are mated with the ratchet mechanism of the lever 7 The working surface of the cam 4 is formed by six flat fragments which have a variable distance from the axis of rotation These fragments correspond to six working positions of the arm-rest One of the working surfaces of the cam 4 corresponding to a selected working position rests on the resisting element 5 placed on the pin 6 which has a hexagonal section The ratchet-wheel 3 with the cam 4, the ratchet mechanism of the lever 7 and the resisting element 5 placed on the pin 6 are all mounted in the casing 9 which by means of the pin 6 is attached rotationally to the fastening support of the arm-rest 8
According to the invention the arm-rest functions as follows
In order to change the active position it is necessary to press the button I at the front part of the arm-rest, which through the lever 2 rotates the ratchet-wheel 3 and the cam 4 connected with it by one notch While pressing the button I it is necessary to move the arm-rest upwards and then the next segment of the cam 4 will rest on the immovable resisting element 5 The ratchet-wheel 3 rotates always in one direction and a single pressing of the button corresponds to a rotation of the ratchet-wheel 3 by one notch, I e the movement of the cam 4 by one position The application of the upward force to the arm-rest places it in the passive position while the return to the active position is the return to the last selected working position
Claims
Claim
The arm-rest of a seat in a vehicle has, at the front of it, a button which through the lever controls the regulation of the active position. Its characteristic feature is the mechanism of regulating the active position This mechanism is made up of the ratchet-wheel (3) which is put in a rotary motion by means of the button (1) and the lever (2) of the ratchet wheel (3) connected with it. The notches of the ratchet-wheel are mated with the ratchet mechanism of the lever (7) The ratchet-wheel is permanently connected with the cam (4) whose profile is formed by rectilinear segments having a variable distance from the axis of rotation. The number of segments of the cam (4) corresponds to the number of active positions of the arm-rest Besides, one of the rectilinear segments of the cam (4) rests on the resisting element (5) which is permanently fixed on the pin (6) The pin is shaped in such a way so as to ensure unmistakably specified, unchangeable position of the resisting element 5 which is, by means of the pin 6, permanently connected with adequate elements of the vehicle's interior: either directly to the side of the seat or to the vehicle's floor by means of the arm-rest's support (8).
