Description

The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a trestle and the trestle obtained by the method.

It is known to manufacture trestles by assembling pieces of wood by mortise tenon methods so as to form a frame forming a leg of the trestle and extending downwards by feet. The upper part of the frame of one leg being linked to the upper part of the frame of another leg by a hinge and the angular spacing of the two legs being limited by a compass fixed downwards of the two legs. In this type of trestle made from wood, the connections of the assembled pieces of wood deteriorate in time under the load and the deformation caused by the load and little by little the trestle is no longer usable.

It is also known, from US-A-4113056, foldable metal trestles constituted by the assembly of rigid legs.

Other features and advantages of the present invention will appear more clearly on reading the following description made with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 represents a perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of a trestle according to the invention;
  • Figure 2a shows a perspective view of a second embodiment of a trestle according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2b represents a view from above of a third embodiment of a trestle according to the invention;

The invention will now be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 17.

Les arrondis peuvent être remplacés par des pans coupés de façon à former aux angles ou cela est possible des angles obtus.FIG. 1 represents a perspective view of a trestle consisting of two legs (1, 2) interconnected by one of the so-called upper sides by means of, for example, three hinges (31, 32, 33) fixed on the inner faces of the legs, the opening angle of the legs being limited by two compasses (41, 42) connected to the vertical uprights (13, 23, 11, 21) vis-à-vis each of the legs. Each leg (1, respectively 2) consists of a frame formed of two lower horizontal struts (10, respectively 20), upper (12, 22) and left vertical uprights (11, 21), straight (13, 23 in looking at the figure). The vertical uprights each extend downwards by feet (respectively 111, 131, 231, 211). The upper cross member (12) can extend laterally outwardly on each side of the uprights (11, 13), as well as the upper cross member (22) of the second leg (2). These extensions (121, 123, 221, 223) make it possible to increase the bearing surface on the trestle. The frame may be reinforced by means of for example angled cross members (14, 24, FIG. 1) connecting each opposite corner of a frame or horizontals (14, 24, FIG. 2a) and the connection of these cross members with the frame being made by roundings (R), as well as the angles of the frames being rounded. The roundings can be replaced by cut edges so as to form at the corners where possible obtuse angles.

In another embodiment, the frame may be reinforced by a horizontal cross member (not shown) approximately connecting the media of the opposite lateral sides (11, 13) and respectively (23, 21), or by cross members according to various directions (Figures 12 and 14 for example).

In another embodiment, each leg may consist of two adjacent frames (1a, 1b) integral with each other by a common side (13a, 13b).

In Figure 2a can be seen the housings (212, 232, 112, 132;) of the compass formed on the inner surface of each of the vertical uprights disposed at the end of each of the legs and in Figure 2b the holes (122). intended to receive the fastening means of the hinges.

The roundings can be between a rounding of at least 10 mm. and a maximum rounding of 100 mm. and are determined by calculation to allow good strength of the structure at the geometric junction between two directions joining at an angle. The thickness of the panel is also chosen according to the desired strength for the structure and, for example, for a width of the uprights of 60 mm. and rounds of 100 mm. cut into a 22 mm panel. Trestles are obtained which largely support loads exceeding 500 kilos.

The panels consist either of plywood which remember it is formed of wooden sheets unrolled, crossed and glued together, or mediums made of wood fibers mixed with binder and compressed. The panels may also consist of agglomerates consisting of fine crushed chips, mixed with a binder and compressed, or OSB consisting of large wood chips mixed with a binder and compressed.

The frame shapes may be varied and consist of trapezoidal shapes with rounded or angularly shaped transverse uprights, as shown in FIGS. 3 to 5. Some of the horizontal uprights may be provided with cutouts for lightening them, without reducing the solidity of the structure, in the form of a lyre (FIG. 6), in the shape of X (FIGS. 9 and 11), or in the form of a letter π (FIG. 10), or in the form of Z (FIG. 13), or finally in form U reversed (Figure 15). In the latter case the frame is open on one side and it is certain that such a trestle bear lighter loads since the feet may depart.

Le tréteau peut alors être obtenu simplement après fixation de charnières (31, 32, 33) et de compas (41, 42) de type standard pour relier ces deux jambes (1, 2).One of the advantages of the method according to the invention is to allow the realization of frames having very different shapes from a plate of material based on dense ligneous material, simply by removing material from this plate. The mechanical properties of the frames are similar for alternative embodiments, for example those illustrated in Figures 3 to 5, made from the same type of plate. The only cutting in the mass of the plate makes it possible to obtain two legs (1, 2) identical without additional operation. The trestle can then be obtained simply after fixing hinges (31, 32, 33) and compass (41, 42) of standard type to connect these two legs (1, 2).

Another advantage of the invention is to use a woody material that can be compacted with a high density, which allows the trestle to directly support loads of several hundred kilograms.

The present embodiments should be considered by way of illustration but may be modified in the field defined by the scope of the appended claims.
