Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for producing adhesive-free Ribbon ribbon cables and manufactured in this way Flat-conductor ribbon cable.
Flat conductor ribbon cables are widely used in electrical and electronics industry. For example, you can for connecting electrical components, as control signal or energy transmission lines or as flexible Heating elements are used.
Flat conductor ribbon cables have several, arranged in parallel Conductor tracks for the transmission of electrical energy and / or of data in the form of electrical signals. The conductor tracks are embedded in a polymer that separates the conductor tracks from each other and isolated from the environment and at the same time protects against damage.
The possible uses of a flat conductor ribbon cable are essentially due to the properties of the insulation used Polymers and determined by the method by which the conductor tracks are embedded in the polymer. To the Properties of the polymer, particularly its temperature resistance, dynamic flexural fatigue strength Buckling behavior, its tear and tear resistance, its burning behavior, its resistance to media and hydrolysis and its dielectric strength are therefore depending on the respective application of the cable to make special demands. It also affects that used to manufacture the flat conductor ribbon cable Procedure whose properties are essential. For example the electrical dielectric strength of the Flat conductor ribbon cable not only through the electrical Dielectric strength of the polymer, but also through the procedure used is largely determined.
Ribbon ribbon cables are usually made by the parallel traces in the polymer, for example Polyethylene terephthalate, sealed with the help of an adhesive become. For the production of so-called flexible flat Cabels (FFC) become the parallel conductor tracks laminated with polymer films in such a way that the conductor tracks between the polymer films. To make a Flexible printed circuits (FPC) become the conductor tracks evaporated on a polymer film or by a galvanic Process applied. On the first polymer film thus obtained a second polymer film is layered, whereby both polymer films connected to each other with an adhesive are previously inserted between the two polymer films has been.
However, the use of an adhesive limits the possible uses so manufactured cable because the glue in the Usually only temperature-resistant over a limited range are. In addition, the adhesives have little resistance to aging and little flexibility.
These flat conductor ribbon cables are made by hot pressing made of polymer films on the parallel conductor tracks. The flat conductor ribbon cables produced in this way are due the use of special polymers with high temperature resistance and the lack of adhesives, even with higher ambient temperatures can be used.
The thermoplastics disclosed in DE 42 00 311 consist of Monomers containing aromatic or heteroaromatic groups contain. Flat conductor ribbon cables were made according to the examples only with insulation made of polyethersulfone, polysulfone and polyether ether ketone. These polymers were used in the form of foils. For example, a Granules melted in an extruder, the melt extruded through a nozzle and then the melt in Water bath or cooled on a casting roller. A serious problem with this method is that heat required for hot pressing in the area of the conductor tracks is dissipated by these, so that in the immediate No optimal bonding of the foils around the conductor tracks to the conductor tracks. By capillary forces media can penetrate the cable and the conductor tracks to damage. The manufactured with this method Flat conductor ribbon cables are therefore the so-called Capillary test not.
Here, conductors arranged in parallel are used right-angled cross-section to a crosshead of an extruder performed and there with a thermoplastic resin a bending module from 800 to 2400 MPa extrusion-coated. Suitable thermoplastic resins are polyamide resins, Polyolefin resins and polymers with sea-island structure specified. However, this method is not suitable for flat ribbon cables produce, whose polymeric insulation is high Requirements for dielectric strength and Dimensional accuracy.
According to the method described in EP 0 938 099, the extrusion die (see for example Fig. 7 in EP 0 938 099) uneven pressure conditions, under which the plasticized polymer hits the conductor tracks. The has the consequence that the insulation layers on and between the conductor tracks are shaped unevenly. As a result, the dimensional accuracy of the polymer insulation is insufficient, which among other things has a lower electrical dielectric strength conditionally. A relatively low dielectric strength leads in the event of an electrical flashover between the Conductor tracks and / or to those surrounding the flat conductor ribbon cable Media to destroy the polymeric insulation material.
The adhesive-free ribbon cable according to the state of the Technology therefore does not meet the high demands that especially in the past few years on flat conductor ribbon cables in industry, for example in the automotive industry, be put.
The object of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art of technology to eliminate. In particular, it is supposed to be a procedure for the production of adhesive-free flat conductor ribbon cables with high dimensional stability and thus high electrical dielectric strength can be specified. In addition, a Device for producing such a flat conductor ribbon cable and a flat conductor ribbon cable with high dimensional accuracy and thus high electrical dielectric strength become.

The invention is therefore based on the knowledge that the manufacture a constant volume flow with which the plasticized Polymer is fed to the tool into one polymeric insulation of the flat conductors, which leads in comparison to the state of the art is much more true to size. The higher one Dimensional accuracy, which is already a major advantage of the method according to the invention also leads to better properties of the flat conductor ribbon cable, in particular to a better electrical dielectric strength. The flat conductor ribbon cables produced in this way are thus significantly tightened in the past two years Requirements that, for example, the automotive industry to the ribbon cable used by her provides.
The flat conductors used should have a rectangular cross section exhibit. The flat conductors can be metallic conductor tracks be made of copper, for example. In the following the terms "conductor track" and "flat conductor" used synonymously.
The provision of the extrudable expediently comprises Polymer drying the polymer. In dependence of the drying time between the selected polymer 30 min and 4 h and the drying temperature between 50 and 160 ° C.
Any polymer can be used in the process according to the invention that extrudable. Because of their properties however, the polymers polyether sulfone, polyether imide, Polyethylene naphthalate, polypropylene and derivatives of these polymers or blends that these polymers and / or derivatives of these polymers are preferred. Especially polyether sulfone is preferably used as the polymer.
The constant volume flow of the plasticized polymer can can be adjusted with a melt pump. With the help of this The melt pump becomes the discontinuous ("pulsating") Volume flow converted into a constant volume flow. The constancy of the volume flow can be measured by means of pressure being checked. At a pressure of the volume flow of the plasticized Polymer leaving the extruder of 50 MPa the pulsating pressure differences are ± 5 MPa. Would this volume flow is used directly to the conductor tracks would encase insulation with low dimensional accuracy, with polymers such as polyethersulfone even an insulating surface with scaly character (so-called melt fracture), receive. The electrical dielectric strength of this Flat conductor ribbon cable is accordingly low. After the melt pump the volume flow is constant, with the exact parameters depend on the melt pump used. "Constant" in this context means that the volume of the continuous volume flow that is fed to the tool is varied by a maximum of ± 2.5% per unit of time.
Furthermore, the performance of the extruder can be adjusted by a suitable one Pressure control, which is a sensor between the output of the extruder and the melt pump can be regulated.
Merging the constant volume flow of the plasticized Polymers with the parallel flat conductors in Step (d) should be adjusting the location of the traces in the polymer. The conductor tracks are preferred guided vertically in the tool.
The ribbon cables obtained in step (d) should after leaving the tool in which the plasticized Polymer and the conductor tracks are brought together, cooled become. This can be done, for example, by Flat conductor ribbon cable through a tempered water bath and / or a cooling medium is guided.

This device is in particular for executing the invention Process suitable.
The device expediently comprises for providing an extrudable polymer a dryer for drying of the extrudable polymer.
You should continue to have a pressure control that the Amount of plasticized polymer that that of the melt pump is fed, adjusts.
The wire guide preferably guides the parallel flat conductors vertically through the tool. The vertical leadership of the Flat conductor offers the particular advantage that influences of Gravity on the insulation material can be avoided with horizontal guidance, as in the specified state of the Technology is described at different levels of strength Insulation on the top and bottom of the ribbon cable leads.
The device expediently comprises a device for cooling the flat conductor ribbon cable obtained in the tool. This device can be a tempered one Act water bath and / or a cooling medium.
