B. im Sicherheitsgurt verarbeiteten codierten Fadens mit der ursprünglichen Länge verglichen und daraus eine unfallbedingte Dehnung des Fadens und damit des Sicherheitsgurtes bestimmt werden. Dadurch können Krafteinwirkungen ohne physikalische Zerstörung des Fadens ermittelt und Längenveränderungen den Kräften und deren möglichen Ursachen zugeordnet werden. In der ersten Ausführungsform gemäß Fig. 1 und 2 weist ein Faden 2 auf seiner Oberfläche in gleichbleibenden Abständen B eine Markierung 4 auf. Die Markierung 4 besteht aus einem nur im UV-Licht sichtbaren Farbstoff, der in Form eines für den Hersteller, den Faden und seine Charge charakteristischen Streifencodes 6 auf den Faden 2 aufgebracht ist. Mit dem Streifencode 6 besitzt daher jeder Faden seine eigene Identität. Die Abstände B dienen als Längeninformation zur Steuerung des Fadenverbrauchs beim Nähvorgang und zur Realisierung eines kontrollierten Nahtverhaltens.
