Description

The invention relates to a collating machine for production of loose sheets formed from sequentially digitally printed sheets Book blocks, with at least one stacking device, which printed sheets are stacked into loose book blocks with one first transport device which the sheets to be stacked feeds the stacking device and with a second transport device, which are the loose book blocks of a finishing machine supplies.

Gathering machines of the type mentioned are in the print processing Industry known. These machines are in integrated in a printing and processing line. These lines usually have a roll-off area in front of the collating machine, a printing area and a cutting and folding area on. After the gathering machine is a processing area, for example with a stitching or perfect binding machine arranged.

In a known gathering machine of the type mentioned Art will print the printed sheets on a lowerable Stacked table. If a book block is put together on this table, so it is transported away from the table and, for example fed to an adhesive binding machine. During the Unloading of the lowerable table is carried out during this Time-consuming printed paper web a paper web buffer educated. When the lowerable table is back in the starting position, the paper web buffer thus formed is processed. Here, the paper web must be tensioned, aligned and be clocked. By buffering and re-tensioning the paper web there is an interruption in the processing process, that reduces production output.

The invention has for its object a gathering machine of the type mentioned to create a higher performance allows.

The task is with a generic gathering machine solved in that the stacking device at least two Has stacking points and the first transport device is formed that optionally at these two stacking points or alternately a loose book block is formed. Through the alternative loading of the two stacking points an interruption can be avoided. The paper tension can to be kept. A new clamping, aligning and in-clocking not necessary. It is essential that a continuous Formation of loose book blocks is possible. The inventive Gathering machine is particularly suitable for the so-called FOD (Finishing on Demand). It can be done in digital printing sequentially also produced small editions of books become. The area of such requirements lies, for example between 1 and 3000. The collating machine according to the invention allows inexpensive manufacture of such small Editions in digital printing.

Es sind aber auch andere Weiterverarbeitungsmaschinen, beispielsweise Maschinen zum Fadenheften möglich.1 and 2 show a collating machine 50, the one first transport device 4, which at an input 19 in the direction of arrow 39 sheet 1 are supplied.
6 to 8 show a collating machine 70 which has a first transport device 4 ″ to which sheets 1 are fed in the direction of arrow 32. With this transport device 4 ″, the printed sheets 1 are fed individually to a switch 15, which deflects the sheets 1 optionally into belts 29 or 30. The belts 29 transport the sheets 1 to belts 36, where a pressure stream S is formed from the sheets 1 with pressure rollers 31. The belts 30 directed downward guide the sheets 1 onto lower belts 37, where a stream of flakes is also formed. In the position shown in FIG. 7, the switch 15 deflects the sheets 1 upwards to the belts 36. The bands 36 and 37 are parts of a stacking device 3 ″, with which book blocks 2 are alternately formed in an upper collecting duct 10 and a lower collecting duct 11. In the position of the switch 15 shown in FIG. 7, a book block 2 is formed in the upper collecting duct 10 at a stacking point A ″. If the switch is changed, the following sheets 1 are transported down to a second stacking point B ″. If a stack of books 2 is formed, it is gripped by drivers 52 according to FIG. 8 and conveyed to a second transport device 5 ″. In the event of traffic jams or production interruptions in downstream processing machines, a buffer device can be used to maintain the production flow of upstream machines. A further processing machine 6 is also arranged after the buffer device 47. Two collecting points A ″ and B ″ are provided in the collating machine 70. In principle, however, more than two collection points can also be provided here. This also applies to the collating machines 50 and 60. In order to change the book block formats, it is necessary that the stacking devices 3, 3 ', 3 "are designed to be changeable, wherein a change can also be made between two book blocks 2 which are of different format and follow one another.
For this purpose, the adjustable stacking devices 3, 3 ', 3''are connected to a control device.
The stacking devices 3, 3 ', 3''can be adjusted by computer or automatically.
The number of sheets 1, from which a book block 2 is formed, can be different. In principle, a book block 2 can be formed from a single sheet 1. The sheets 1 are cut in a cutting machine, not shown here, also called a trimmer. The sheets 1 are preferably printed sequentially in a digital printing press. In a folding device, not shown here, the printed paper webs are folded in a manner known per se. Suitable folding machines are known to the person skilled in the art.
