Clamping element for clamping workpieces (20) that are already held in their positioned location and for which a supporting uptake is required at certain places, with a housing (1) and with clamping jaws (7, 8) that can be moved up and fixed onto the workpiece, and are set on two parallel slides (2; 3) that are slidingly guided in guideways, characterised in that
    a) The guideways are sunk-in in openings (4; 5) of the housing (1),
    b) the input force for moving the slides is effected through plunger pistons (9; 10) that act on the front sides (17; 18) of the slides and thereby form a short lever arm between input force and output force,
    c) The plunger pistons (9; 10) are located in the piston plates (15; 16) of the housing (1) and are pressurised from the same hydraulic connection,
    d) a piston (22) that acts at right angles to the plane of the slides is introduced in the housing (1) underneath the slides (2; 3),
    e) the slides (2; 3) are each provided with a recess (6) extending in a wedge-shaped manner,
    f) the piston (22) is provided at its head with a wedge (23) that is guided slidingly in the recess (6) of the slides,
    g) in the clamped state, the slides (2; 3) can be fixed with their clamping jaws (7; 8) in contact with the workpiece, in that pressure is admitted to the piston (22) that is pulled downward into the housing (1), and thereby pulls the wedge (23) at its head into the recesses (6), forces apart the slides (2; 3) and presses them into the guide surfaces (27; 28) of the openings (4; 5).
  2. Clamping element according to claim 1, characterised in that the slides (2; 3) are equipped with replaceable, attachable clamping jaws (7; 8).
  3. Clamping element according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the wedge (23) is designed such that the slides (2; 3) are fixed in a self-locking manner when clamped.
  4. Clamping element according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the slides (2; 3) with their clamping jaws (7; 8) with a force uniformly acting on them are moveable onto the workpiece and cause a force that is uniform on both sides to act on the workpiece, the force fixing the workpiece in its position in an unchanged manner.
