Description
The invention relates to a temperature detection device for an internal combustion engine.
Conventional temperature sensing devices typically include sensor elements that enable temperature sensing based on thermodynamic sensing principles such as temperature-induced volume change of a fluid, or based on electrical effects such as changes in line resistance. These sensor elements are connected via electrical lines or thin pipes to a central detection device. Sensor elements for detecting the engine temperature can be arranged in the region of a cylinder head. Sensor elements for detecting the oil temperature are preferably provided in a line section located downstream of an oil pump. Sensor elements for detecting the temperature of the engine intake air can be arranged in an intake tract of the engine before or after a filter device.
By detecting the temperatures of the intake air, the cooling water, and the oil, it is possible to optimize the operation of the engine, in particular with regard to the exhaust gas quality. However, the numerous sensors and their coupling to a central engine management unit proves to be complicated from an assembly point of view.
The invention has for its object to provide a temperature detecting device, by which at least two in the operation of an internal combustion engine advantageously considered temperature readings can be detected in a favorable manner.
This object is achieved by the features according to
This advantageously makes it possible to detect the temperatures of the two air streams centrally by means of a compact and advantageously mountable structural unit, with the measurement signals obtained being coupled with reduced wiring complexity into a harness system provided on the vehicle side. In a particularly advantageous manner, it is possible, for example, before an engine start to check the operation of the two sensors against each other and possibly make a common calibration of the two sensors. Due to the local proximity of the two sensor elements, a particularly meaningful comparison of the respectively detected temperature values becomes possible. Since, during operation of the internal combustion engine, the temperature detected by the second sensor element can not be lower than the temperature of the intake air, a particularly reliable function test of the temperature detection device is possible.
The two sensor elements are preferably combined via the support structure to form a structural unit. This results in particular advantages in terms of assembly technology.

The two sensor elements are connected according to the present invention via a common wiring with a vehicle side provided harness load. The two Cabling associated with sensor elements can in this case be connected to the vehicle-side cable harness via a common connection plug structure.
The terminal plug structure is advantageously formed integrally with the support structure. The support structure is preferably made of a plastic material and forms a partition, which separates the two air streams at least before their Überstreifen the sensor elements from each other.

According to a particular aspect of the invention, the support structure is preferably formed integrally with an air guide member. This air guide member is preferably an engine intake air guide.
Alternatively, it is also possible to integrate the support structure in a fan suspension or a water tank a Fahrzugkühlers. The two sensor elements are preferably arranged adjacent to one another. This results in a particularly compact design.
The support structure is advantageously arranged in a region in which a line device of an engine intake air system is guided past a radiator fan. In this area, the engine intake air system is preferably coupled to an engine radiator or radiator fan device.
It is possible to provide a further sensor element, which is also attached to the support structure, for detecting the cooling water temperature, wherein this sensor element is preferably also connected via the common wiring to the vehicle-side wiring harness.
