Abstract

The panel is made from a core of a corrugated material between two plain layers that are stuck to the core, and has one surface impressed to receive the bottoms of the cans. The impressions (11) have circular edges (12), forming round areas in which the corrugations are completely crushed in the centre and partially round the outside. Each end of the panel has a projecting strip (104) with slits (105) and rectangular U-shaped cuts (106) that allow them to be folded.

Description

The present invention relates to the packaging of containers, for example boxes or containers of liquid, in particular containers liquid food known as "cans"; it consists in particular in a positioning plate adapted to position juxtaposed containers of the type "cans" to facilitate their wrap in an envelope or cover made of synthetic material or even possibly in cardboard to form a package, and secure their transport thus conditioned; it also consists of a packet of containers known as a "pack" containing such a plate, and a a method of packaging containers implemented by means of a such a positioning plate, to form such a package.

Currently, quantity packaging, under sheet in synthetic material, containers such as cans or bottles, important precautions to prevent the containers, even in mutual contact, move relative to each other prior to and during their joint wrapping by the same sheet of synthetic material. To avoid slipping containers against each other once wrapped, it is necessary that the sheet wrapping either in very cold-stretchable material, or heat-shrinkable.

Packaging in quantities under cardboard makes it possible to avoid sliding of the containers against each other once wrapped, to condition of creating in the initial cardboard sheet openings arranged suitably to coincide with salient regions of the containers in such a way that once the carton is folded around the group of containers, these protruding areas make prominence through the openings towards the outside of the cartonnage and thus the receptacles are prevented from move in the cartonnage and deform it; he is also necessary to create in the initial cardboard sheet a system of slots and of tabs adapted to "lock" the carton after wrapping of the containers. On the other hand, the mutual displacement of containers until their projecting areas have penetrated into the corresponding openings remains difficult to avoid.

Also known, for example from US 4,474,293 A, packets of containers comprising a basic carton having a corrugated core and a cover synthetic material completely enclosing the carton and the receptacles, of which one side of the carton has imprints each made up by a hollow line extending circumferentially along which the undulations of the wavy soul are crushed, imprints in which the respective annular ribs of the bottoms of the containers are received when removing containers from the carton. However, such crushed lines do not position containers very efficiently.

The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and more precisely to allow containers to be wrapped in quantity avoiding their displacement prior to their envelopment, during this one, and also later, without the need for a machine extremely powerful.

With this configuration, the containers placed on the plate of in such a way that their bottom is in relation of engagement each with a impression of it, are prevented from slipping on the plate and thus from to move relative to each other unless they exercise a lateral thrust of notable intensity.

The positioning plate shown in the figures is intended to enter into the constitution of a package of containers known as the name 'pack', in particular containers in the form of containers generally cylindrical shaped metal known as "cans", this package including, besides the containers and this plate as basic support on which the bottom of these, a cover made of synthetic, for example heat-shrinkable, at least partially surrounding the assembly formed by the plate and the containers.

This plate has a multilayer structure, and more precisely comprises a core consisting of at least one sheet 1A in corrugated material, and outer cover sheets 1B, 1C formed each made of material without corrugations and which are glued respectively from on both sides of the soul; the core constituted here of a single corrugated sheet 1A and the two covering sheets 1B, 1C are for example made of cardboard.

The plate comprises a face 10 having hollow imprints 11 for positioning the receptacles intended to receive in commitment relation the bottom of these, in order to prevent the containers from slide on the plate and so to move relative to each other to less to exert on them a lateral thrust of notable intensity, whether before their wrap, at the moment of it, and once they are wrapped.

The plate has a number of indentations 11 equal to number of receptacles intended to enter into the constitution of the package, by example, as in Figure 1, twelve prints divided into three lines longitudinal lines of four imprints also aligned transversely to form four transverse straight lines of three fingerprints.

The footprints each extend on a surface delimited by minus one contour line 12 along which the coating sheet 1C of the face 10 is cut from one side to the other, the surface under which the corrugations of the sheet of corrugated material 1A are at least partially crushed in such a way that the impression has a depth of at least minus a few tenths of a millimeter. In a variant, the contour line 12 can not be a cut line but a slotted line, along which ripples are crushed. The undulations located under the surface bounded by the contour line (s) can be overwritten whole, or can only be slotted in one direction secant relative to the direction of the undulations. In the form of embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2, the surface under which the corrugations are at least partially crushed is limited by a single outline, exterior, but it is also possible to provide such a surface delimited by two contour lines, the second contour line extending internally to the first, and can also be a line along which sheet is cut right through, or a slotted line.

The bottom of the containers here approximately cylindrical in front positioned by the plate having a circumferential rib of diameter smaller than the outside diameter of the containers, the impressions are of substantially circular shape, and their contour line 12 is in full or over most of its length an arc of circumference whose diameter is slightly greater than that of the rib and smaller than that around the cylindrical periphery of the containers. In the case where the surface under which the undulations are at least partially crushed is further limited by an inner contour line, this last can be an approximately concentric circumference at the outer contour line 12, and the surface under which the undulations are at least partially crushed then extends approximately annular ring shape. In a particular application to classic soda or mineral water containers, contour line 12 has a diameter of approximately 53 mm; in this application, it is possible to provide another contour line extending internally at the contour line 12, about ten millimeters from it. The distance between the impressions is here identical in the longitudinal and transverse directions of the plate, and chosen from such way that the perimeters here approximately cylindrical of containers positioned by the footprints are in contact in these two directions.

The plate, of approximately rectangular general shape, has two longitudinal edges, each consisting alternately of a rectilinear segment and an arched segment, as will be seen later, extending in the same direction as the longitudinal lines of impressions, and two rectilinear transverse edges extending into the same direction as the transverse lines of footprints.

More precisely, the imprints of the two longitudinal lines of the nearest impressions respectively of the two longitudinal edges of the plate have a part of their contour line which is in arc of circumference 121, and also a segment in right segment 122 which further constitutes a part of the contour line of the plate.

For this purpose, the right segment segment 122 may be secant to the circumference arc 121 of said contour; alternatively, it can be approximately tangent to the circumference arc or not to cut it, but be connected to it for example by two tangents 123; in addition, the outline of the end imprints of each of the two lines fingerprints that are closest to each other respectively two longitudinal edges of the plate has a portion 124 in an arc of circumference which is also a part of the contour line of the plate, connected to the straight segment portion 122 of the contour of the same footprint.

It should be noted that the rectilinear segments of the longitudinal edges of the plate are not limited to the straight segment parts of the contour of each print, each of these parts being extended externally to the imprint, in the direction of the segment in the right segment of the contour of the neighboring footprint, without reaching it, by an additional line segment 101.

The rectilinear segments of each longitudinal edge of the plate are connected to each other by a notch 102 of the plate, having an arched bottom connected by two sides tangent respectively to two rectilinear segments of the neighboring edge; each of these two sides tangents to the arcuate bottom of the notch 102 is secant to the projection on the plate, around the edge of the containers next to the notch.

Thanks to this geometry, the periphery of the containers positioned by the indentations protrude from the longitudinal edges of the plate, of a circumferential contour portion of circumference 124 to the other inclusive, except in the arched bottom of the indentations 102; it follows that the cover synthetic material of the package does not have to marry the shapes of the singing of longitudinal edges of the plate and in particular the sharp angles of this song, and it can be noted that the synthetic material, generally heat shrink, constituting the cover, does not retract between containers sufficiently to come into contact with the bottom remaining arched, indentations; thus, the risks of tearing the cover are minimized.

The end regions of the longitudinal edges of the plate are rectilinear segments 103 connecting to the arcuate portions of circumference 124 of the outline of the imprints, located in the extension of the diameter of the footprints which is parallel to the line segment 122 of them.

Parallel to each transversal edge of the plate, a line of least resistance extends between the rectilinear segments 103 of the regions ends of the longitudinal edges; the two lines of least resistance so define with the corresponding transverse free edge of the plate, two end strips 104 forming an integral part of the plate, extending parallel to each other, foldable around the line of less resistance.

The line of weakness has slots 105 aligned crossing the plate from side to side; between the slots 105, cut-outs U 106 delimiting tabs 107 are formed by through slots also the plate from side to side.

The end strips 104 are thus adapted to be folded to 90 ° on the side of the face 10 of the plate which comprises the fingerprints 11, for constituting transverse end walls of the package; the extremities free of the tabs 107 are then projecting from the opposite side of the plate and allow correct positioning of the package on another package identical.

Cette lumière peut par exemple présenter la forme d'une ellipse dont le grand axe s'étend dans la même direction que les bords transversaux de la plaque (figure 1) ou que les bords longitudinaux de celle-ci.One or more imprints, for example, as in the figures, two imprints arranged symmetrically with respect to the center of the plate, are pierced through by a light 13 to read the printed barcode under the container positioned in the impression. This light may for example have the shape of an ellipse whose major axis extends in the same direction as the transverse edges of the plate (Figure 1) or that the longitudinal edges thereof.

Thus, to form the package of containers, one forms first, in hollow in a face 10 of the plate, positioning fingerprints 11 containers that each constitutes by cutting the sheet of coating 1 C of this face 10 from side to side along at least one line cutting or grooving the sheet to form at least one score line in order to delimit the surface of the impression and at least partially the corrugations of the sheet 1A corrugated material on the surface delimited by said at least one line so that it constitutes an imprint contour delimiting a surface under which the ripples are at least partially crushed.

Then, we have containers each having a bottom on the surface of the impression so that the bottom is bordered externally by the cutting line or slotted.

Finally, at least partially the assembly formed by the plate and receptacles, by means of a cover of synthetic material, preferably a heat-shrinkable material.

Of course, the invention is not limited to forms and modes described above and shown, and may be provided others without leaving the frame.

For example, a simplified embodiment may be provided in which the portion of the contour line 12 of the fingerprints which constitutes furthermore a part of the contour line of the plate is by a segment right but an arc of circumference, and the notches are also in circumference arc, so that each of the two edges of the plate consists alternately of arcuate segments in opposite directions and connecting continuously, for example arcs of circumference tangents. Such an embodiment may be devoid of end strips, the transverse edges of the plate being then formed in the same way as the longitudinal edges, alternately of arcuate segments in opposite directions respectively bordering the footprints and indentations.
