Claims (19)

  1. Deposit-retaining device for a trolley, of the type comprising a housing (C1, C2), provided with means for attachment (V2) to part of a trolley, particularly its handlebar (BPO), and a flexible connector such as a chain (CH) from which is suspended a coupling member of a specific form known as a key (5), said housing comprising on the inside:
    a key slide (5) and a coin or token slide (P1, P2), opposite corresponding entry slots for a key (7) and coin (62, 63),
    a drawer (3) comprising at least one coin stop (BP11, BP21) and capable of moving within the coin slide in the process of inserting a coin in the corresponding slot, and
    a moveable assembly comprising:
    a) at least one first latch (14, 15) for locking the drawer (3) in a locking position for the coin and a release position for the key, and
    b) at least one second latch (12, 13) for preventing the key from being removed while freeing the drawer towards a locking position for the key and a release position for the coin,
       characterised in that the plane of insertion of the coin is substantially perpendicular to the plane of insertion of the key, which is deemed to be substantially horizontal, so as to reduce the bulk of the deposit-retaining device,
       in that the movable assembly comprises an elbowed member (1) pivoting substantially on its elbow (16) and carrying, on either side of the elbow, the first latch (14, 15) and the second latch (12, 13),
       and in that the member further comprises, nearest the second latch, at least one key stop (10, 11) delimiting the key slide,
    such that the insertion of a key, by pushing back the key stop, causes the member to pivot, thereby releasing the drawer into a top position, while the insertion of a coin, by pushing the drawer into a bottom position, causes the member to pivot in the other direction, thereby releasing the key and securing the drawer in its bottom position.
  2. Deposit-retaining device according to claim 1, characterised in that it comprises first spring means (23, 24) on which the drawer (3) bears, which are mounted in compression in the housing (C1) when the drawer is in its bottom position.
  3. Deposit-retaining device according to claim 2, characterised in that the elbow (16, 2) of the member is arranged to bear on the first spring means (23, 24) and in that the device comprises means (21, 22) for retaining part of the member, on the side nearest the first latch (14, 15), so that when the drawer (3) is moved towards its bottom position the first spring means (23, 24) are compressed and the member pivots, thereby releasing the key.
  4. Deposit-retaining device according to claim 3, characterised in that it comprises second spring means (21, 22) for retaining the member, comprising one end which is integral with the housing and another end which is integral with said part of the member nearest the first latch.
  5. Deposit-retaining device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the movable assembly further comprises at least one third latch (41, 42) adapted to co-operate with the drawer (3):
    in order to block a coin (P1, P2) inserted in the coin slide when the drawer (3) is in its bottom position, and
    in order to release this coin when the drawer (3) is in its upper position.
  6. Deposit-retaining device according to claim 5, characterised in that the third latch is made in the general form of a hook (41, 42) turned towards the drawer (3) and arranged against a side wall of the drawer (31, 32), and in that said side wall comprises a notch, while the hook comprises, opposite the wall, a plane (43, 44) inclined towards the drawer and adapted to co-operate with the notch (31, 32), so that:
    when the drawer (3) moves relative to the hook (41, 42) towards its bottom position, the wall (31, 32) exerts a force on the inclined plane (43, 44), causing the hook to pivot towards the drawer into a locking position for the coin,
    whereas, when the drawer is in its top position, the inclined plane (43, 44) is substantially accommodated in the notch (31, 32), and the hook is in a release position for the coin.
  7. Device according to claim 6, characterised in that the housing comprises means for holding the hook (45, 46) in order to prevent a translatory movement of the hook while allowing it to pivot.
  8. Deposit-retaining device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that it is intended to be mounted on a trolley having a foldable backrest (SB), opposite the deposit-retaining device, and in that part of the housing (C1) is substantially notched in order to allow the backrest to fold back freely without abutting on the deposit-retaining device.
  9. Deposit-retaining device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that it comprises at least one self-tapping screw (V2) for fixing to the handlebar (BP).
  10. Deposit-retaining device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the key (5) comprises a plurality of grooves (55) in its gripping part (54).
  11. Deposit-retaining device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the coin entry slot (62, 63) is formed in a concavity in the housing (C2), provided with a reinforcing lip (61).
  12. Deposit-retaining device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that it is arranged to accept a plurality of types of coin (P1, P2) and in that the drawer comprises a plurality of pairs of coin stops (BP11, BP12, BP21, BP22), the stops in any one pair being spaced at a certain distance depending on a particular type of coin.
  13. Device according to claim 12, characterised in that the housing comprises a plurality of coin slots (62, 63).
  14. Deposit-retaining device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the member (1) is made in one piece from a metallic material.
  15. Deposit-retaining device according to one of claims 5 and 6, characterised in that the third latch (41, 42) is made of a metallic material.
  16. Deposit-retaining device according to one of claims 5 and 6, characterised in that the third latch (41, 42) is made of a plastic material and preferably provided with at least one reinforcing rib (410).
  17. Deposit-retaining device according to one of claims 1 to 13, 15 and 16, characterised in that the member (1) is made in one piece from a plastic material.
  18. Deposit-retaining device according to claim 17, characterised in that the second latch (12, 13) at least of the member (1) comprises at least one reinforcing rib (120).
  19. Deposit-retaining device according to one of claims 17 and 18, characterised in that the movable member comprises a pivot axis in the form of an overmoulded rod (2) close to the elbow (16).
