Abstract

Flat oil cooler for a car has oil connections consisting of a threaded steel tube (8) with aluminum mounting rings (9) welded to them.

Description

The invention relates to a heat exchanger, in particular one Flat tube oil cooler for motor vehicles, in soldered aluminum construction with Threaded connecting piece for the inlet and outlet of the to be cooled Medium, preferably gear oil.

Such a heat exchanger was described in EP-A 0 866 300 Applicant known. These gear oil coolers are available as flat tube or Disc oil cooler built and each have an inlet and a Outlet port for the gear oil through the wall of the Coolant box are passed and sealed against this. The gear oil is thus by the coolant, which by the Coolant / air cooler flows, cooled. All parts of the transmission oil cooler consist of aluminum, i.e. the flat tubes, the turbulence inserts and the connecting piece - so the entire oil cooler can be in one Operation to be soldered.

A similar so-called disc oil cooler was developed by the US-A 5,121,790. With this design, the flow channels for the Oil through nested disks arranged in pairs formed, which are also made of aluminum and together with any Turbulence inserts and connecting pieces in one step in the soldering furnace to be soldered. Oil lines are attached to the connecting pieces of the oil cooler connected via screw connections so that the ends of the Connection pieces must have a thread. Because the threaded connector aluminum coolers are also made from an aluminum material there is a risk that the thread will corrode and over time that then the screw connections between the connecting piece and the Pipelines for the oil can no longer be solved or that Thread is destroyed when loosening - this is considered a disadvantage.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a heat exchanger improve the type mentioned in that the thread of the Connection piece is not subject to any corrosion and thus a easy disassembly and reassembly is possible.

The solution to this problem consists in the features of Claim 1. The fact that the connecting piece from two various materials, namely corrosion-resistant steel, that is Stainless steel for the thread area and solderable aluminum material for the Connection area exists, on the one hand, the desired Achieved corrosion resistance while maintaining the advantage that the connection piece together with the entire aluminum heat exchanger can be soldered in one operation.

In a further embodiment of the invention according to claim 2, the Steel part and the aluminum part of the connecting piece are torsion-proof and tight connected with each other. This has the advantage that a Attach the oil cooler to the Coolant box is possible because of the tightening torque Fastening nut via the non-rotatable connection over the soldering surface between the aluminum part of the threaded bushing and the heat exchanger can support. The same applies to the pipe screw connection of the oil lines. Oil leakage is also prevented.

In a further embodiment of the invention, that is Aluminum part designed as a fastening ring, which is the threaded bush made of steel and at the same time soldering to the heat exchanger allows.

An advantageous further development of the invention results from claim 4, after which the non-rotatable connection between steel threaded bushing and Aluminum fastening ring via knurling or serration he follows. It is sufficient if a tooth-like knurling on the circumference of the steel part is provided, which during assembly with the Mounting ring digs into the softer aluminum and thus one Torque support allows when tightening the mounting nut. However, it is also possible that both on the outer surface of the Threaded bushing has an external serration as well as on the inner surface of the fastening ring an internal serration are provided, which at Assemble the assembly of both parts.

In a development of the invention according to claim 5 is the annular Level and a corresponding paragraph the advantage that the Threaded bush is held in the axial direction.

In a further development of the invention, another is Serration or knurling between the aluminum and steel part provided, which means a higher torque between the two parts at the Assembly and disassembly of the oil cooler or pipe fitting is transferable.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention according to claim 7 Solder connection between the aluminum mounting ring and the Aluminum heat exchangers made possible via a solder disk, that is a disk coated on both sides with a solder alloy from one Aluminum material or an aluminum alloy. However, it is also possible to dispense with this solder disk, for example by the outermost surface of the heat exchanger, i.e. its connection surface with Fastening ring, in turn is provided with a solder plating.

Further advantageous embodiments of the invention result from the Claims 8 to 12. Are between the steel part and the aluminum part Sealant is provided either before the soldering process or after be provided. A solderable sealant, which is already before Soldering process is a circumferential in the steel body Cutting rib that digs into the softer aluminum material and thus already achieved a strong sealing effect. Can be used as a solderable sealant also a high temperature resistant epoxy resin or ceramic adhesive in the Contact area of the aluminum and steel part may be provided, which is before installing the threaded bushing and the mounting ring in the Connection area of both parts is applied and then due to its High temperature resistance survives the soldering process without damage. On such epoxy resin can in addition to the cutting rib mentioned complete sealing may be provided. Finally, one can Sealants are applied after the soldering process, which is not is resistant to high temperatures and from the outside in the connection area from Steel and aluminum part is introduced.

Fig. 1 shows a transmission oil cooler 1, which consists of a stack of individual flat tubes 2, which are closed at the end by a fold 3. Turbulence plates 4 are arranged within the flat tubes 2, which ensure swirling of the oil and thus improved heat transfer. Between the individual flat tubes 2, further turbulence plates 5 are provided, which improve the heat transfer on the outside, that is to say on the coolant side. The oil cooler 1 has two connecting pieces 6 and 7 which are intended for the inlet and the outlet of the oil, that is to say the medium to be cooled. Furthermore, these connecting pieces are used to fasten the oil cooler in the coolant box of a coolant cooler, not shown, as is known from the above-mentioned prior art. The dash-dotted line 8 marks the level at which the transmission oil cooler 1 rests and is fastened on the inside of the coolant box, not shown. The transmission oil thus enters the oil cooler, for example, through the inlet connection 6, flows through the individual flat tubes 2 in parallel and leaves the oil cooler 1 again through the outlet connection 7. The outside of the flat tubes 2 are acted upon by the coolant which flows through the coolant cooler. The parts 2, 3, 4, 5 consist of an aluminum alloy that is brazeable. The design of the nozzle 6 and 7 (both are the same) is described below with reference to FIG. 2.

Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the connector 6 in an enlarged view with part of the transmission oil cooler 1. The connector 6 is constructed in two parts, that is, it consists of a threaded connector 8, which is made of stainless steel, and a mounting ring 9, which is made of a solderable aluminum alloy. Both parts 8 and 9 are rotatably and tightly connected to each other, as will be explained in the following. Between the end face 10 of the connector 6 and the outer surface 11 of the oil cooler 1, a solder disk 12 is arranged, which consists of an aluminum alloy as the base material and is plated on both sides with a solder alloy. This solder disk 12 is provided for soldering the fastening ring 9 to the oil cooler 1. Other soldering agents would also be possible, e.g. B. a plating of the outer surface 11 of the oil cooler 1 with a solder alloy, which then enables soldering to the mounting ring 9. The installation of the oil cooler 1 in a coolant box of a coolant cooler, which is not shown in full, is shown partly and in dashed lines: the fastening ring 9 has an end face 13 with an annular groove 14, which serves to receive an O-ring 15. This end face 13 lies against the inside 16 of the plastic wall 17 (dashed line) of a coolant box (not shown) (the face 16 corresponds to plane 8 in FIG. 1). The connecting piece 6 has a threaded portion 18 which extends through an opening 19 in the wall 17 to the outside. A fastening nut 20, which fastens the oil cooler 1 to the wall 17 and at the same time seals it via the O-ring 15, is screwed over this threaded section 18. The part of the threaded section 18 protruding outward via the fastening nut 20 serves to fasten a pipe screw connection (not shown) for the supply or discharge of the gear oil. From this installation description it is clear that, for example, when tightening the fastening nut 20, a torque is exerted on the threaded connector 8, which must be supported - this is done via the connection between the threaded connector 8 and the fastening ring 9 by a cylindrical seat 21 and 22, respectively Both parts, that is, the stainless steel threaded connector has on its peripheral surface 21 '(this is shown as detail III in Fig. 3) a tooth-shaped knurling or a serration 23 (Fig. 3); a similar knurling or serration 24 is provided for the cylindrical seat 22 on the surface 22 '. When mounting the fastening ring 9 in the axial direction, the serration 23 and 24 digs into the corresponding peripheral surfaces of the softer material aluminum, ie into the fastening ring 9 - this creates a rotationally fixed connection between the two parts which is capable of Torques occurring during assembly or disassembly to be transferred to the oil cooler 1 via the soldered connection. In addition, the two parts 8 and 9 must also be sealed in the area of the cylindrical seat 21 and 22. This is done by a peripheral cutting edge 25 shown in FIG. 3, which rises in the axial direction over a flat surface 26 of an annular collar 27. When parts 8 and 9 are joined together, this cutting edge 25 is pressed into the opposite surface of an annular step 28 on the fastening ring 9. Sufficient sealing of both parts 8 and 9 is thus achieved before the entire connection piece 6 is soldered to the oil cooler 1. In addition to this sealing measure 25, a high-temperature-resistant sealant, for. B. a ceramic adhesive can be applied, which experiences no impairment of its sealability due to its temperature resistance by the subsequent soldering process. Instead of the high-temperature-resistant sealant, a two-component or one-component epoxy resin can be applied as the sealant after the soldering process, in the region of a trough-shaped annular recess 29 which is located in the region of the cylindrical seat 22. Such a sealant is applied in liquid form, then penetrates into the cylindrical seat 22, then hardens and thus seals both parts 8 and 9.

As already mentioned at the beginning, with this composite construction one can Connection piece in stainless steel and aluminum a corrosion-resistant Make a threaded connection for an aluminum heat exchanger, whereby the complete heat exchanger, that is including the connecting piece in can be soldered in one operation.

Although the embodiment described above is due to liquid coolant directed oil cooler, but the invention can can also be realized on an air-cooled heat exchanger.
