Claims (9)

  1. A process for producing brochures (10) in any formats and thicknesses by means of wire binding, wherein a wire binding element (41) is received by a row of perforations (12) provided along a margin of the sheet-like printing materials (11) in order to loosely bind a brochure consisting of several sheet-like printing materials (11),
    characterized in that
    at least one wire binding element (41) with random loop length and loop distance is produced as required and immediately prior to the binding process, the wire binding element being tailored to the respective format and thickness of the brochure.
  2. The process according to claim 1,
    characterized in that
    the wire binding element (41) to be produced is additionally tailored to the respective row of perforations (12).
  3. The process according to claim 1,
    characterized by
    comprising the following steps:
    a) determining the format and thickness of a brochure to be bound and subsequent setting of the production parameter for the corresponding wire binding element by the electronic control device (110);
    b) producing the wire binding element tailored to the respective format and thickness of the brochure by means of devices (20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 110) that are electronically and mechanically connected with one another by
    - feeding a wire (1) from at least a wire supply (20) comprising a wire spool (21, 22, 23) to a wire bending device (40) by transport means (30);
    - bending the wire to a flat, loop-shaped wire binding element (41) by means of the wire bending device (40);
    - cutting or cutting to length the wire binding element (41) by means of a cutting device (4) and feeding the cut wire binding element (41) to an insertion device (80);
    - feeding a stack of sheet-like printing materials to the binding device (90), the stack being provided with a row of perforations;
    - inserting the wire binding element (41) into the row of perforations (12) in the stack of sheet-like printing materials (11); and
    - subsequent bending of the wire binding element (41) by means of a bending and closing device (90) to a closed inline-wire-loop (IWL).
  4. The process according to one of claims 1 to 3,
    characterized in that
    a crimp (61) is inserted into each loop (S) of the wire binding element (41) centrically to the binding device by means of a crimping device (60).
  5. The process according to claim 4,
    characterized in that
    the insertion of the crimp (61) into the wire binding element (41) is performed in stages on a loop (S) by loop (S) basis by means of a single bending die (61).
  6. The process according to one of claims 1 to 5,
    characterized in that
    the wire binding is formed by a single wire binding element (41) which corresponds to the entire width of the brochure.
  7. The process according to one of claims 1 to 5,
    characterized in that
    the wire binding is produced by means of several individual wire binding elements (41') divided over the width of the brochure and/or directly adjacent to one another by insertion into the row of perforations (12), wherein the individual wire binding elements (41') are simultaneously inserted into the row of perforations for binding the brochure.
  8. The process according to one of claims 1 to 7,
    characterized in that
    the production parameter of the wire binding element (41) such as, for example, wire diameter, wire length, diameter of the wire binding elements (40, 41') formed to a closed Inline-Wire-Loop (IWL), etc. are determined by means of the electronic control device (110).
  9. The process according to claim 7,
    characterized in that
    the number of individual wire binding elements (41') that can maximally be selected is determined in dependence upon the format of the brochure to be bound.
