Abstract

In a disc drive having a pickup portion (23) and a pickup guiding arrangement for reciprocatably guiding the pickup portion in a disc radial direction (C, D), the pickup guiding arrangement consists of a combination of a main shaft (34) and a sub-shaft (35) which is arranged with the sub-shaft inclined to the main shaft by a predetermined angle () within a plane in parallel with a disc table surface (24a) of a turn table (24). The pickup portion (23) includes a sliding contact portion (37, 37A) for being slidably in contact with the sub-shaft. The sliding contact portion (37A) extends laterally outward a longer. The sliding contact portion may have a U-shaped cross section.
