Abstract

A cleaning pad of woven or non-woven material, in which one side thereof is provided with an adhesive layer enabling a releasable fixation to another woven or non-woven material.

Description

  • The invention relates to a cleaning pad of woven or non-woven material.
  • Such a cleaning pad is known from US-A-6 003 190.
  • This known cleaning pad is provided with fastening means, such as straps provided with hook and loop material, by means of which the pad can be applied to the lower part of the leg of a golf player.
  • In real live it happens quite frequently that persons are using part of their clothing for cleaning or drying their hands or objects they are using. This is especially true for persons wearing special clothing for performing their job, such as a dust coat or an overall, which normally serves to protect their regular cloths, but is often used, at least partly, as cleaning pad. This leads to an increased need for washing and/or cleaning such protective clothing. Especially in case where work is performed in a dirty and/or oil rich environment, such as e.g. in car work shops, painting etc. the protective clothing is very often very dirty and needs regular cleaning, if possible at all. This will lead automatically to an increased wear and tear of such protective clothing.
  • The cleaning pad as described in the above mentioned US-A-6 003 190 can be used to some extend to avoid the above mentioned problem, provided that it could be applied to the right position on the protective clothing. However, this is generally not possible as the commonly used part of the clothing used for cleaning hands or tools is the part between the hip and the legs.
  • It is therefor an object of the invention to provide a cleaning pad which can easily be applied to clothing and which can be used for cleaning hands or other tooling used by a person, without smudging the clothing of the person.
  • This object is obtained in that one side of the woven or non-woven material is provided with a adhesive layer enabling a releasable fixation to another woven or non-woven material.
  • In this way the cleaning pad can easily be applied in any portion to the clothing of a person, especially to the most convenient place to be used and when fully used it can easily be removed and when needed thrown away and subsequently be replaced by another cleaning pad, thereby saving the clothing of the person.
  • When properly used, the special protective clothing of a person will be less dirty if at all and the need for washing and/or cleaning will be substantially reduced.
  • Adhesive layers as such, fulfilling the requirement of enabling a releasable fixation to a clothing or woven or non-woven material are generally known in the art. By way of example reference is made to the adhesive material as used on the marking sheet commercialized under the name Post-it by 3M Corporation.
  • In a preferred embodiment of the invention the adhesive layer is provided with a releasable protective layer.
  • In this way it becomes possible to handle the cleaning pad without having the risk that the adhesive layer may contact some other surface and become sticked thereto. It also allows a number of cleaning pads to be put on top of each other and packed for transport and storage.
  • Preferably a laminate layer is provided between the woven or non-woven material and the adhesive layer.
  • In this way it becomes possible to have a layer which is not permeable of liquids, especially water and/or solvents, so that the underlaying clothing is even better protected against any cleaning function performed through the woven or non-woven material. This type of cleaning pad is especially useful for persons dealing with liquids such as oils, paint and the like. Liquid impenetrable materials such as laminate are also generally known in the art.
  • In a modified embodiment of the invention the woven or non-woven material side of the cleaning pad is provided with symbols.
  • These symbols can be printed or painted on that side of the cleaning pad, or be applied in any other suitable way. In this way it becomes possible to provide advertising messages or company logo's on the cleaning pad, making it even more appealable to the users. Otherwise it becomes possible to use the cleaning pad according to the invention as number bearer for instance in sport contests and the like, where it is often a requirement to be able to easily apply and remove such number.
  • It is obvious that the invention is not restricted to the above mentioned embodiment and application, but that within the scope of the claims numerous modifications can be applied.
