Definitions
- the present invention relates to a brush provided with a flow rate regulator. products for cleaning and treating floors.
- the broom When the areas concerned were large enough, we associated with the the mop, the broom.
- the original combination of the mop and the broom was perfected successively to result in real brooms composed of a handle and a support provided with a handle holder and equipped, at its lower part, with mops properly anchored.
- the necessary quantities of liquids at the start or wax at the end were poured by the operator directly on the ground, from different containers, and they were then spread out on the floor using mops and brush brooms or by successive brooms provided with a handle and a support with a underlying soft element.
- closing and regulating the flow of fluids contained in the tank, through the small tube are a function of the size of the crushing of the small tube caused, by appropriate means, on a section determined from this tube.
- the control of the crushing of the small tube is carried out by acting on a knob located at the top of the handle and which by means of a wire (by pulling) or a rod (by pushing) will counterbalance the action of a spring which, during the period of no use of the broom, keeps the small tube crushed.
- Brooms with a reservoir mounted on the handle existing on the market and with which the regulation of the flow rate of the liquid coming from their tank is carried out by crushing a section of the small flexible tube connected to the lower part of the tank, are made as follows.
- the cover On the external upper part and near the handle, the cover is provided with a skirt.
- the outer top of the cover is configured so that a once the cover is lifted upwards, it is resiliently engaged on the lower part of the handle of the handle so as to be held there. This allows the operator to use both hands without having to keep the lid on during operations to be carried out with the mouth of the tank open.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a broom provided with a reservoir with a regulator for the flow of the liquid contained in this tank, in particular a wax made fluid, which eliminates all the disadvantages encountered with brushes provided with a tank with a liquid flow regulator that exists on the market, innovating the functional and structural concepts and further reducing production costs and Handling.
- the first innovation concerns the discharge opening provided on the bottom of the tank. It is carried out, in continuity with the molding of the tank, by means of a robust tubular appendage with a fairly large hole.
- the second innovation concerns the mounting of the tank cover.
- the cover which is provided with a central tubular cavity sliding along the handle of the broom, fits on the tank by means of a screw coupling. According to the innovation of this patent, the cover does not mates more by screwing but by support under an adequate force, with means appropriate. In this way, for the separation of the cover, even if must form possible incrustations which cause it to stick to the tank, there is no longer any overcome sliding friction and one must intervene with forces which are at the scope of any operator.
- the appropriate means provided for closing the upper mouth of the tank, with the cover not screwed on can be hooking elements made up of arms articulated in rotation (elastically), for example, on appendages of the cover and which have a hook-shaped end for gripping on associated appendages present on the external surface of the tank.
- Another innovation concerns the method of fixing the knob, provided for the control of the crushing regulation of the small flexible tube, on the end upper stem.
- the fixing between the knob and the upper end of the rod is produced by means of a screw engaged in the plastic material of the knob, this screw acting superficially on the threaded rod axially in the pommel, pressing it against the wall of the hole.
- the fixing is achieved by taking advantage of the only adhesion that exists between the wall of the hole of the pommel and the surface of the stem.
- the solution to this problem was obtained by carrying out a transverse cavity in the pommel, a cavity which intersects and opens into the hole axial present in the pommel and in which the rod is threaded.
- a blocking element preferably prismatic section
- the rod When the rod is threaded into the pommel, it enters and exceeds the hole transverse housing the locking element. Once the rod is placed in the correct position, the rod is tightened with the axial screw of the locking element so that this element becomes integral with the rod.
- This innovation facilitates the assembly of the various parts of the broom during construction and allows to release the rod from the control knob placed at the top the handle whenever cleaning of the broom becomes necessary or in the case any intervention on the broom, without compromising the quality of mating.
- Another innovation concerns the way in which the crushing of the small is carried out. tube so that, when necessary, total blockage of the flow is always guaranteed liquids from the tank, with no possibility of undesirable leakage which would prove to be harmful during the use of the broom and which could cause the emptying of the tank when the broom is not in use.
- the required centering of the small nose on the flexible tube is obtained by performing a prismatic coupling between the piston carrying the small nose and the sleeve in which slides the piston or by widening the base of the rib whose top constitutes the small nose, so that in the position close to crushing, this base ensures self-centering, by resting on the edges of the opening of the sleeve in which slides the piston.
- Figure 1 shows the broom seen from the side.
- Figure 2 shows the broom seen from the front.
- Figure 3 shows the broom seen in perspective.
- Figure 4 is the same representation as that of Figure 3 but with the mouth of the tank open and the lid raised upwards and engaged with the lower part of the handle.
- Figure 5 is an axial sectional view of the entire crushing device of the small flexible tube which descends from the bottom of the tank and which extends up to near the floor, in front of the mop support.
- the lower section of the handle equipped with a sleeve in which can be move a piston with a small nose. At rest this piston is pushed up by a spring and during operation it can be pushed down, against the action of the spring, by means of a rod housed inside the handle and controlled by a pommel located at the top of the handle.
- the entire system consisting of sleeve, small nose piston and spring is contained inside the sleeve holder at the by means of a clamping end and two transverse screws.
- the sleeve integral with the handle and the piston with small nose are provided corresponding openings that allow the passage of the small flexible tube through they.
- the crushing of the small flexible tube is caused by the small nose of the piston which, when it is pushed up, compresses it against the edge of the wall of the sleeve in which the piston slides.
- Figure 6 is a sectional view of the elements, disassembled, out of service, the outside of the handle holder and in an exploded form, which constitute the device of crushing the small flexible tube and more particularly the sleeve fixed to the part lower of the handle, the piston provided with the small nose which is connected to the operating rod, the spring pushing the piston upwards, and a portion of the small flexible tube intended for pass through the openings of the handle holder, the sleeve and the small nose piston.
- Figure 7 is an axial sectional view of the handle holder provided with the end piece tightening, and two passages for the transverse screws ensuring the fixing of the sleeve connected to the handle.
- the handle holder At its lower part the handle holder has the shape of a fork and it is connected to the underlying mop holder by means of an axis which allows the articulation of this support.
- Figure 8 is a sectional view of the various elements constituting the part upper part of the broom and more particularly the tank cover retained by the handle of the handle.
- the handle the handle applied to the sleeve, the sleeve with external flange, threaded into the upper end of the handle, the knob whose hub slides inside the flange sleeve and the rod operation fixed to the knob.
- the meeting elements which come to bear on parts of the top of the tank and the threads for coupling with the corresponding threads provided on the upper surface external of the tank.
- the cover In its central part the cover has a tubular cavity whose wall is practically adherent to the handle.
- the cover is provided with a tubular skirted appendage which ensures its elastic engagement on the lower part of the handle.
- FIG. 9 represents the cover detached from the handle of the handle and located at near the mouth of the tank. We can see on this figure the nets which are provided on the upper external surface of the tank for its coupling with the lid.
- Figure 10 is a sectional view of the reservoir, a portion of the handle, a small fitting which is interposed between the small flexible tube and the tubular appendage which makes body with the bottom of the tank, and a protective cap for the small fitting and the tubular appendage.
- the protective cap is mounted below the tank and it surrounds the handle. It can be noted that the tank is made in one piece and that its external tubular wall and the tubular wall of its internal cavity are connected to the bottom without continuity solution.
- Figure 11 shows the locking element arranged on the upper end of the control rod for crushing the small flexible tube which is contained at the inside of the knob which surmounts the handle of the handle.
- Figures 12,13 and 14 show, respectively in section, in side view and in top view, the locking element mounted on the upper end of the rod, outside from its operating position, that is to say outside the knob.
- FIG. 15 represents the pommel which is placed on the top of the handle and which is provided with the operating rod to control the crushing of the small tube flexible liquid delivery.
- FIG. 16 represents the sleeve with external flange which is threaded in the upper end of the handle and in which the hub of the connected knob slides to the operating rod.
- FIG. 17 represents, with a part partially cut away, the pommel of Figure 15 and it highlights the enlarged part made in the upper part of the hollow present on the hub.

- Figure 20 is a bottom view of the sleeve shown in Figure 16 and it highlights the presence of the key.
- Figure 21 shows, on a larger scale and in section, the lower zone of the tank with its tubular appendage and its small tubular connection to be applied to the appendix, the small connector being provided with the end-piece allowing the attachment of the small flexible tube.
- the wing pierced with a hole that extends from the tubular appendage of the tank and the elastic fins, pierced with holes, of the small tubular connection allowing a coupling integral with the small connection with the tubular appendage.
- Figure 22 is the representation corresponding to Figure 21 seen from the outside.
- Figure 23 is the representation corresponding to Figure 22 after 90 ° rotation.
- Figure 24 is the representation of three close and more parts particularly the upper part of a normal tank, an annular element and a type of cover without threads. All of these three parts allow remove the cover ensuring the closure of the tank mouth, without having to unscrew, when the liquids used can cause sticking and inlays.
- the annular element On the top of the tank is applied the annular element provided, at inside, nets and, outside, appendages or a hanging edge with a lower undercut.
- the cover has no thread internal and it has, on its external surface, at least two articulated levers elastically on this surface and whose lower arms have ends in the form of hooks.
- the coupling between the cover and the annular element does not require reciprocal rotations but it is obtained by a translation of the cover which, once strongly pressed against the top of the annular element, remains firmly gripped on the appendages of the annular element by means of the small arms in the form of hooks levers with which it is fitted.
- Figure 25 shows the cover and the annular element of Figure 24 in the coupling position.
- Figure 26 represents, seen from the front, the small nose intended for the crushing of the small flexible tube (not shown in this figure) which comes out of the opening present at the lower end of the sleeve integral with the handle.
- said opening has, in its uppermost part, a corresponding semi-circular profile the outside diameter of the small flexible tube which, as mentioned above, is not shown, and which after a first section widens downwards with edges presenting a curvilinear look.
- Figure 27 shows how the small flexible tube is crushed compressed by the small nose against the edge located at the top of the opening of the sleeve secured to the handle when the little nose is in the centered position.
- Figure 28 shows how the crushing of the small flexible tube, compressed by the small nose against the edge located at top of the opening of the sleeve integral with the handle, when the small nose is not not in the centered position.
- the inner wall of the small flexible tube does not fully fold over itself, leaving a slight opening. Such an opening, even if it is very small, allows a leakage of the liquid which descends from the tank causing obvious operating problems, including unwanted emptying of the tank when the broom is not in use and can be stored in the accessories depot.
- Figure 29 is an elevational view of the support of the mop. We see that it includes two fins on the sides that rise from the top and have the same position as the bracket provided for the attachment of the handle holder. Each of the fins has a reduced height in the center to allow the passage of the male pin for buttoning.
