         characterised in that the squeeze roller (30) leaves a small gap (21) from the second roller (20), through which gap air or another atmospheric gas in the zone (29) reaches the top of the fabric web (W) in order to flow through the latter.
    2. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that the web of fabric (W) is at atmospheric pressure on its upper side in the transition section (W') and the space (28) between and underneath the rollers (10, 20) is sealed off and connected to a suction pump arrangement.
    3. Apparatus according to claim 2, characterised in that a suction box (25) is adapted to be set against the rollers (10, 20) by its sealing edges (27, 27) perpendicular to the plate (22).
    4. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the two rollers (10, 20) are adapted to be driven at substantially the same circumferential speed, but slight differences in the circumferential speed are controllable.
    5. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the first roller (10) in the direction of movement of the web of fabric (W) is preceded by an applicator device for treatment liquid.
    6. Apparatus according to claim 5, characterised in that the applicator device is an immersion tank (4) filled with treatment liquid, through which the web of fabric (W) can be passed over at least one deflecting roller (5) situated beneath the liquid level.
    7. Apparatus according to claim 6, characterised in that the immersion tank (4) is disposed beneath the first roller (10) and the web of fabric (W) is taken upwards from the immersion tank (4) and wraps around one side of the first roller (10) as far as its upper zone.
    8. Apparatus according to claim 7, characterised in that the axis (A2) of the second roller (20) on the side thereof remote from the wrapping side of the first roller (10) is situated above the axis (A1) of the first roller (10) and the axes (A1, A2) are situated in a plane (22) including an angle (23) of 30° to 60° to the horizontal.
    9. Apparatus according to claim 8, characterised in that the squeeze roller (30) is disposed above the first roller (10).
    10. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 9, characterised in that at least one of the rollers (10, 20) is heated.
    11. Apparatus according to claim 10, characterised in that the second roller (20) is covered by a heating hood (40) in the wrapping zone.
    12. Apparatus according to claim 11, characterised in that the heating hood (40) is of double-walled construction and the ducts (41, 42, 43, 44) existing between the walls are adapted to carry a flow of a fluid heating medium.
    13. Apparatus according to claim 11 or 12, characterised in that the air or other atmospheric gas can be moved out of the gap (49) between the heating hood (40) and the web of fabric (W) wrapping the second roller (20).
