Abstract

The focussable artificial intraocular lens (1) replaces an opaque natural lens in cataract operations and has two bending links (3) on the rib (14) of the Z-shaped centering springs. Four centering springs (2) extend from the edge of the artificial lens, bend in a spring fashion on the capsule sac edge and center the lens. Two bending links (3) are provided on the narrow rib of a centering spring (5). A folding line allows the lens to be folded together before insertion. A grip periphery (6) of the contractable ring muscle is provided. A hollow space remains as capsule sac (7) after removal of the opaque natural lens. A displacement (9) of the artificial lens occurs by contraction of the ring muscle, altering the lens distance from the retina. A cross-section (12) is indicated of a support lob (13) at the ends of a centering spring. The middle part (14) of the rib of a centering spring is not deformable. A theoretical connecting line (15) is inclined between the undeformed bending links by approximately 40 degrees against the optical axis of the artificial lens.

Description

Stand der Technik:State of the art:

To correct cataract surgery, the natural lens of the eye is replaced by an artificial lens. Such art lenses usually have the form of a paragraph mark, with the protruding s-shaped brackets serve for their centering in the cavity of the removed natural lens. Although these plastic lenses are very flexible in the wet state and can even be folded for insertion into the eye by the smallest possible slot, but they are no longer convex deformable, as is the case for accommodation in natural eye lenses. An artificial lens has just a fixed focal point, therefore, a sharpness of before or after lying pixels must be approximated by fitted eyeglass lenses. The resulting unavoidable blurring in the transitional areas causes a significant loss of visual comfort, which has to be reduced by an improved focusable artificial lens and offers the opportunity to dispense with corrective glasses altogether.

Even without a diagnosis of lens opacification, well-focused artificial lenses, which are used in healthy eyes, can replace the costly laser ablation of the cornea to remove severe myopia and prevent the onset of long-term vision.

Instead of changing the convexity, as an alternative to accommodation with artificial lenses, only a change in the lens distance from the retina (offset) through the contracting sphincter is available, provided that it remains undamaged and active after removal of the natural lens.

Focusable art lenses for eyes with two articulated joints on the centering springs are already known from the document WO 99 03427 A (ISRAEL HENRY M) January 28, 1999 (1999-01-28). Because these hinges almost Aligned parallel to the lens plane, this requires a much greater force of contraction of the sphincter to achieve axial displacement of the lens, as is the case with an ideal 50 degrees against the optical lens axis inclined middle part between the two articulations of the centering springs.

Weitere Kunstlinsen sind aus WO 96 15734 A (ACUITY ISRAEL LIMITED; ISTAEL HENRY M (IL) 30. Mai 1996 (1996-05-30) und US-A-5 609 630 (CROZAFON PHILIPPE) 11. März 1997 (1997-03-11) bekannt.Further art lenses are disclosed in WO 96 15734 A (ACUITY ISRAEL LIMITED, ISTAEL HENRY M (IL) May 30, 1996 (1996-05-30) and US-A-5 609 630 (CROZAFON PHILIPPE) March 11, 1997 (1997-03 -11).

Problemlösung und Beschreibung:Problem solving and description:

This object is achieved by z-like centering springs according to claim 1.

Bei dieser Kunstlinse blieb die Empfindlichkeit bei Stauchung und der Versatz (9) noch unbefriedigend.FIG. 1 shows a focussable artificial lens with only one articulated joint, as it is modeled on the CUMMING lens (general state of the art). In this artificial lens, the sensitivity at compression and the offset (9) remained unsatisfactory.

Fig. 2: By z-like centering springs (2) with two articulated joints (3) on the web (14) according to the invention, however, the offset (9) is effectively increased. The central part of the web of the centering springs is cuboid, so that its front against the front capsular bag membrane (17 in Fig. 3) and its back against the front glass body boundary membrane (16 in Fig. 3). This supports the return of the artificial lens through the capsule bag, which is stretched meridionally during dilatation.

The support tabs (13) at the end of the centering springs nestle with their back against the front vitreous body boundary membrane and prevent the sole buckling only of the outer articulation.

With a relaxed sphincter muscle, the compressed, elastic centering springs automatically stretch back to their original initial shape after a dilatation and pull the artificial lens back to its resting position. In the commonly used soft elastic lens material, the restoring properties of the centering springs are further stiffened for faster recovery of deformation by a partial chemical or physical treatment (eg, more crosslinked by UV irradiation) or by a partial moisture repellent surface seal (reducing the softening flux influence).

Fig. 3: shows the deformation of a Z-like centering spring in contraction of the circular muscle. The angle of the imaginary oblique connecting line (15) between the two articulated joints and the optical axis of the artificial lens is depending on the deformation between about 45 to 50 degrees, so in this area is the maximum, there also almost linear sensitivity of this Akkomodationsapparates used.

Fig. 4: shows the production of an artificial lens with stretched centering springs in hard aggregate state, so even before it becomes soft elastic in water vapor. When implanted, compressed in a Z-like shape, the artificial lens thus returns to its resting position more quickly after dilatation due to this stronger deformation.
