Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an aluminum alloy and a manufactured from it Extruded product.
Wandstärken verpressen lassen, gehören insbesondere die Legierungen von Typ AlMgSi.Among the well-known aluminum construction alloys, which too Press large profiles with locally very different thicknesses or wall thicknesses Alloys of the type AlMgSi belong in particular.
When welding components made of AlMgSi alloys together or with profiles or sheets made of other aluminum materials are the mechanical properties in the area adjacent to a weld seam Area, i.e. the so-called heat affected zone, for dimensioning of the components to be welded together is crucial Importance. Generally they are used for welded constructions Components such as extruded profiles in advance subjected to heat treatment, i.e. usually cured warm. During the welding process, the material is in the heat affected zone a weld seam is essentially solution annealed again and is quiescent Air, depending on the dimension of the welded construction, more or less strong, cooled to ambient temperature. This process leads first to softening with a corresponding loss of strength. In the subsequent natural aging, the strength increases again, reached however no longer affects the value of what is not affected by the welding Basic material. Subsequent hot curing would be considerable Costs connected and in many cases not feasible anyway.
The loss of strength in the weld area can be caused by larger dimensions or thicker walls are encountered, which on the other hand overall leads to a heavier construction.
In shipbuilding, profiles are often made from an AlMgSi1 alloy with sheets made of an AIMg4.5Mn alloy. The alloy used for the profiles must be easy to weld to the sheets. Because the welded joint the AIMg4.5Mn sheets achieve higher mechanical characteristics than that of the currently used AIMgSi1 profile alloys must be Connection of both materials, the thickness of the profile can be chosen larger. To reduce stress concentrations in the welded joint, Often, thicker sheet metal must also be used than it is for one pure sheet metal construction would be necessary. This leads to a further increase the total weight of the welded structure.
AlMgSi alloys that are suitable for the production of extruded profiles and also find use in welded constructions are in US-A-4525326, WO-A-9744501 and EP-A-0936278.
The invention has for its object to provide an aluminum alloy, those used in welded constructions after welding leads to higher yield strengths than comparable alloys after the State of the art. The invention is also intended to compress itself into large profiles leave and be easily weldable.
The essential essence of the invention is that the elements manganese, Vanadium and chrome are coordinated so that they welded construction in the heat affected zone of welds too one compared to welded constructions using alloys according to the prior art to significantly improved mechanical Lead properties of the welded joint. By adding copper or silver, the positive effect can be further enhanced.
The contributions of the elements mentioned to improved strength behavior can be explained as follows.
The yield strength of a welded joint of AIMgSi materials is increased if the heat affected zone is less strong either during welding softens or hardens more cold after welding. A lesser Softening in the heat affected zone can be achieved if the content of elements that increase the quench sensitivity of the alloy becomes. In order to still have sufficient recrystallization inhibition an element must be added that has sensitivity to quenching less increased, but still in combination with other elements sufficient recrystallization inhibition results.
It has been shown that the quench sensitivity by chromium and manganese strong, less increased by vanadium. Apparently due to interactions between individual elements, which have not been fully clarified, that the restriction of the chromium content according to the invention and by metered addition of vanadium the desirable and generally the strength-increasing manganese content can be maintained can.
A stronger post-hardening in the heat affected zone can be added of copper or silver can be achieved as further hardening elements. At the Use of these additional elements must of course take place in the considerations are included. This can happen under certain conditions an increased addition of copper negatively affects the corrosion behavior of the entire construction. On the other hand, the high costs speak of silver rather against a general application of increased silver additions.
The main advantages of the alloy according to the invention are particularly evident for an extruded product which is welded in a Construction is used. A special area of application of a welded Construction from extruded products with the inventive Alloy composition results when welding Aluminum-magnesium alloy sheets. Such Welded structures made from extruded profiles and sheets are suitable because of the weight saving mentioned above, especially in shipbuilding.
The advantages of the alloy according to the invention and of the alloy produced from it Extruded products result from the following description of exemplary embodiments in comparison to comparison materials the state of the art.
