Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an LED light for motor vehicles, the has at least one light-emitting diode as the light source.
Such an LED light is known from DE 197 28 763 A1. she has several light-emitting diodes connected in series, which a PTC resistor is connected upstream. The PTC resistance increases at increasing temperature its electrical resistance and limited thereby the operating current of the LEDs. The LEDs are each operated with an operating current that is less than or equal to that permitted at the respective ambient temperature The maximum current of the LEDs is. Between the cold operation and the case of high operating temperature finds a sliding Current reduction instead of the constant supply voltage of depends on the temperature of the PTC resistor. The previously known LED light has the disadvantage, however, that the operating current of the Light emitting diodes, especially at high ambient temperatures a correspondingly large voltage at the PTC resistor drops, a power loss on the PTC resistor causes that as heat is released to the environment and to warm the LEDs contributes. Despite the reduced at high temperatures Operating current also occurs at the LEDs themselves certain power loss, whereby these are additionally heated. The LEDs must therefore be comparatively high Operating temperature must be dimensioned, which is why the manufacture of the LED light is still comparatively expensive.
There is therefore the task of an LED light at the beginning to create mentioned type that is inexpensive to manufacture and in which the light-emitting diode (s) avoid an upstream PTC resistance against damage due to excessive operating or Junction temperature is (are) protected.
The solution to this problem is that for the light-emitting diode (s) a protective circuit is provided which has at least one Temperature sensor for measuring the ambient temperature and at least a switching means for switching off the LED (s) when exceeded a predetermined temperature threshold.
According to the invention, at least one light emitting diode is used for the If a predetermined temperature threshold is exceeded, switched off. As a result, the LED is easily too high Operating and junction temperatures protected. The invention can be used especially with such LED lights, which is not used or only rarely used at high ambient temperatures become. For example, one is used as a reading lamp in one Motor vehicle-provided LED lights usually in strong Sun exposure and therefore not at high ambient temperatures switched on, so that the deactivation of the LED (s) at these Temperatures from the user of the lamp practically not as disadvantageous is felt. Advantageously, can LED light according to the invention in comparison to an LED light, in which the LED current is reduced at high temperatures, the light emitting diode (s) for a correspondingly smaller one, by the Temperature threshold value of the protective circuit specified operating temperature be dimensioned, making the LED light inexpensive can be manufactured. The lower the temperature threshold is fixed, the higher the operating current of the LED be designed and thus the number of light-emitting diodes of the lamp accordingly reduced and / or the light intensity in normal Temperature range must be increased. Falls below the ambient temperature on the LED (s) again the specified one The light-emitting diode (s) will become the temperature threshold again switched on.
An interior light is already known from DE 44 10 584 C1, which has two light bulbs as light sources, at least of which a by means of a protective circuit having a temperature sensor is switched off when a predetermined temperature threshold is exceeded. With this non-generic interior light However, the protection circuit is only for the protection of light bulbs illuminated components of the lamp in front of the in comparison to a light emitting diode significantly higher operating temperature Light bulbs, but not intended to protect the light bulbs themselves.
In an appropriate embodiment of the invention Temperature sensor and the switching means through a bimetal switch educated. This can be done, for example, with the LED (s) be connected in series. Overall, this results in one LED light that can be manufactured particularly cost-effectively.
In another embodiment of the invention, the temperature sensor connected to a comparison device for comparison it with the temperature sensor determined temperature measurement the temperature threshold, the comparison device with the Switching means for switching off the LED (s) in control connection stands. The temperature sensor can be, for example, a hot or PTC thermistor. The LED (s) is (are) below Avoidance of mechanical contact prone to overheating protected.
It is particularly advantageous if the temperature sensor is thermal is conductively connected to the LED (s). The light emitting diode is then even better against their high junction temperature pn junction protected.
In a particularly expedient embodiment of the invention the LED light on several LEDs, at least one this light-emitting diode is designed for an operating temperature, which is greater than the temperature threshold of the protection circuit for the other LEDs and the one for the larger one Operating temperature trained (n) LED (s) in front of the Protection circuit connected to a common power supply is (are). So it only becomes part of the light emitting diodes of the LED light switched off when the temperature threshold is exceeded, while the other LEDs continue to be energized. Thus, at least one remains even at high ambient temperatures LED activated so that the user of the LED light can detect proper function. If necessary, the LED (s) designed for the higher operating temperature have a different color than the other LEDs. The for the larger operating temperature trained LED (s) can (can) also at least when the temperature limit is exceeded be supplied with an operating current that is smaller than the operating current of the other LEDs at a temperature which is less than the temperature threshold.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention the LED light is arranged in a makeup mirror and for manual switching on and off whose LED (s) is at least an electrical switch is provided, in particular by Positioning the makeup mirror in the viewing position and / or by positioning one intended for the makeup mirror Cover is actuated. Because a makeup mirror usually comes with high ambient temperature is not used, the user the LED light deactivates the LED (s) at high Virtually don't notice temperatures. Thus, the LEDs can be protected from overheating practically without sacrificing comfort. At temperatures below the temperature threshold, the LEDs then with a correspondingly large operating current be energized without the risk of thermal damage the LEDs are given. The LED light therefore shines Temperatures below the temperature threshold one accordingly great light intensity.
In another advantageous embodiment of the invention the LED light adjacent to a door handle of a vehicle door arranged to illuminate the door handle and / or the door apron. In this embodiment, the LED light is usually only at night and therefore at ambient temperatures below the Temperature threshold must be switched on. The LED light can for this purpose, for example, on the switch for switching on and / or off the low beam of the motor vehicle.

Temperaturschwellwert entsprechende maximale Betriebstemperatur
