Description

The invention relates to a device for feeding a processing line with printed products.

The development towards ever more efficient processing machines leads to the fact that individual printed products are transported ever faster and injected into processing lines. For example, sheets or supplements are injected into a pocket chain of a plug-in machine. These processes can not be done arbitrarily fast due to the low stability of such sheets. Higher speeds can also lead to unwanted bouncing of the bow.

A device is known in which partial products are taken over to receiving stations and transferred to the processing line by means of clock chains. The advantage here is that the clock chains in the transfer area run in the same direction with the processing line and so the products along can pass. However, a disadvantage is the considerable mechanical complexity associated with corresponding manufacturing costs and the failure-prone repeated transfer of the partial products. Also, the large footprint of the entire supply and the delivery point on the processing line is disadvantageous.

In another device of the generic US-A-5,560,594, the processing line comprises segments in the form of pockets arranged one behind the other. Each bag has rollers at an upper end, with which the lowest printed product is removed from a stack and fed to the bag. An advantage of this device is the compact design. Here, however, there is the difficulty that the printed products to be deducted do not run along with the processing line and have to be deflected for insertion into the pockets. Leading the printed products when inserting into the pockets is difficult and prone to failure and, in addition, partial support rolls are required for partial products. Another disadvantage of this device is seen in the fact that the accessibility to the processing line is largely installed. In case of problems, crumpled products can not be removed quickly and easily as desired.

By CH 684 589 A a method and an apparatus for separating stacked printed sheet has become known, after which the sheets are respectively detected at the front end of a stack of drivers and transported rolling to a remote from the stack delivery point for further processing, wherein the signature on the way to the delivery point a sticky supplement is supplied.

The prior art CH 408 970 A provides a saddle stitcher feeder having a rotating drum circumferentially provided with a plurality of processing cells for turning the printed products through one revolution so that it can be placed astride the saddle-shaped processing line after opening.

Die EP 0 405 107 A1 beschreibt eine Vorrichtung zum Vereinzeln gestapelter Papierbogen, die durch einen Rotationsanleger einer Fördervorrichtung zugeführt werden.EP 0 405 107 A1 describes a device for separating stacked paper sheets, which are fed by a rotary feeder to a conveying device.

The invention has for its object to provide a device of the type mentioned, which avoids the disadvantages mentioned above and is still reliable. The device is intended to enable a faster transport of printed products and in particular printed products or supplements, for example in pocket chains or insertion machines.

The object is achieved in a generic device according to the features of claim 1.
In the device according to the invention, the printed products are separated with the processing cells of an investor. The separated printed products are delivered consecutively over several processing cycles to the segments of the processing section. As a result, there is more time available for the individual sub-process and it is possible for several printed products to be out of phase with one another.

A particularly fast processing is possible if, according to a development of the invention, the feeder is a peel-off feeder. The printed products are removed from the stack or magazine with suckers. For discharging the printed products, these suckers are vented, for example via a slide valve.

A particularly secure transfer results when, according to the invention, the feeder has belts which cooperate with the processing cells for holding the printed products. The printed products, which are preferably taken on a wheel with suckers, are guided with revolving belts.

The device according to the invention makes it possible to deposit the printed products in the segments of the processing line with a leading fold. However, an embodiment in which the printed products are deposited with an open side in front, in particular placed on a saddle-shaped segment of the processing path, is also conceivable.

Further advantageous features emerge from the dependent claims, the following description and the drawings.

The apparatus 1 shown in FIG. 1 consists essentially of a magazine or stack 2, a feeder 3 and a processing section 4. As can be seen, the feeder 3 is arranged above the processing line and below the stack 2. With the feeder 3, printed products 5 are withdrawn from the stack 2 and fed to the processing line 4, which feeds these printed products 5 to a further processing device, not shown here, in the direction of the arrows 18. The printed products 5 are for example folded sheets or inserts. In particular, these products are partial products.

The stack 2 has a bottom open frame 32, in which the printed products or partial products 5 are stacked one above the other. If these printed products 5 are provided with a fold 5a, this is shown in FIG. 1 on the right as shown, while the open side 5b is on the left. The printed products 5 can also be sheets without fold.

In the exemplary embodiment shown, the feeder 3 is a peel-off feeder and is essentially a drum 10 which is mounted on a drive shaft 6 and rotates in the direction of the arrow 14. At the periphery of the drum 10 a plurality of processing cells 7 are arranged at uniform intervals, which are each rotated about a shaft 11 in synchronism with the rotational movement of the drum 10. The rotation of the processing cells 7 takes place according to the arrows 12 and by a drive. The peripheral surfaces 13 of the drum 10 thus move the lateral surfaces 7a of the processing cells 7 in the opposite direction to the rotational movement of the drum 10. The opposite speeds are preferably about the same size, such that the tangential velocity of the processing cells is preferably zero at its periphery.

The processing cells 7 each have a plurality of suction cups 19 each having a peripheral suction opening 21. The suckers 19 are connected via an axially extending channel 20 and via a valve plate to a vacuum line leading to a vacuum source, for example a vacuum pump. A frame-fixed valve plate has a kidney-shaped recess 28, which determines the angular range in which the suckers 19 are effective. In Fig. 1, the nipple 19 is the twelve o'clock processing cell 7 'evacuated. By contrast, the diametrically opposed processing cell 7 "is ventilated.

The suckers 19 serve to peel off the stack 2 in each case the lowest printed product 5 '. The evacuation of the suckers 19 takes place in such a way that the printed product 5 'to be peeled off is grasped on each side in the vicinity of the fold 5a. The grasping and peeling of the printed product 5 'takes place with the processing cells 7 in each case just before they have reached the position shown in FIG. The arrangement of the printed product magazine in the upper drum half is expedient.

With the suction of a printed product 5 'is this immediately after its leading edge area, detected in this case at the fold 5a by means of bands 8 and continued. The running on rollers or rollers 9 belts 8 have the direction of rotation of the processing cells 7. The peeled printed products 5 'move with the processing cells 7 clockwise or in the direction of arrow 12. Simultaneously with this movement, the peeled printed products are moved by the rotation of the drum 10 about the shaft 6 in the counterclockwise direction. The preferably continuous rotation thus moves the processing cells 7 past the stack 2 in a circular path. If the processing cell 7 reaches approximately the ten o'clock position, then the fold 5a is located, as can be seen, approximately at the circumference 13 of the drum 10. In order for the printed product 5 "to be guided on the circumference 13 during further transport, a guide plate 15 is in this area or a similar guide means provided which is adjustably mounted on a bracket 16. Between the twelve o'clock and the eight o'clock position, the processing cells 7 are reversed 360 ° rotated about its shaft 11. After reaching the eight o'clock position, the teat 19 are vented and in the further movement, the captured printed product 5 '' is still guided by the bands 8. Even before reaching the six o'clock position, the fold 5a projects beyond the circumference 13 of the drum 10. The fold 5a now moves according to FIG. 1 on a line which is inclined relative to the transport direction 18. The pockets 17 of the processing line 4 are positioned so that the printed product 5 '''down into a pocket 17' protrudes and is released on further transport into this. It is essential that in this process, the printed product 5 '''along with the processing line 4 in the same direction, in the direction of arrow 18. During the transfer, the printed product 5 '"does not have to be accelerated. It is also essential that the printed product 5 '"is guided through the processing cell 7" and the belts 8 until it is completely transferred to the pocket 17'. In the dot-dashed position shown in FIG. 1, the printed product 5 has left the feeder 3. Since, as mentioned, an uncontrolled state is avoided, a comparatively high transport speed can be achieved.

The pockets 17 can be loaded with other investors 3 not shown here. Thus, a device 1 with a plurality of investors 3 arranged one behind the other is conceivable, each supplying print products of the processing section 4 from a stack 2. In a bag 17 thus successively printed product can be stored.

Auch diese Verarbeitungsstrecke 4'' kann geradlinig, gemäss Figur 3 konvex oder auch konkav verlaufen.FIG. 3 shows a device 1 in which a processing path 4 'running convexly beneath the feeder 3 is arranged. By such a convex course is For example, it is possible to open the pockets 17 for loading the printed products 5. In Figure 3, the bag 17 'relative to the pocket 17 as shown against the top further open. The processing section 4 "shown in FIG. 4 has saddle-shaped supports 29 on which the printed product 5 is placed in such a way that the fold 5a is at the top, as can be seen. The printed products 5 are placed so that the open side 5b precedes. In order to achieve this, the processing cell 7 is controlled approximately after reaching the eight o'clock position so that its direction of rotation is reversed. Thus, in the six o'clock position, the processing cell 7 rotates according to arrow 35. Correspondingly, the printed product 5 is moved so that the open side 5b projects downwards. With a suitable device known by investors, for example with a gripper system or a blowing device or a nipple not shown here, the printed product is opened on its lower side 5b such that the printed product is placed astride the saddle-shaped support 29 as shown in FIG becomes. This processing section 4 '' can be rectilinear, according to Figure 3 convex or concave.
