Description

The invention relates to a screen printing method for printing on flat objects, especially glass panes, with a Decor and a device for performing the method, wherein a decor is to be understood as an ornament that is over part of the surface of the object or over the entire surface whose area extends.

Screen printing machines for printing a wide variety of objects and materials are generally known.
In the process according to flatbed screen printing, the object to be printed is placed on a table, then the flat screen stencil attached to a frame and provided with a printing surface is lowered, the squeegee is pressed onto the screen stencil and pulled over it, so that the existing printing ink under the movement of the Squeegee is pressed through the open meshes of the printing surface of the screen and applied to the surface of the object. This procedure can only be used for the recurring printing of objects with the same dimensions. If, however, objects of different dimensions, including the usual dimensional tolerances of the objects and positioning deviations of the sieve template and the objects to be printed, are to be printed with the same screen stencil up to the edge areas thereof, then if the part permeable to printing ink (= printing surface) of the screen stencil remains over the protrudes from the outer dimensions of the object, at these points printing ink is available in the mesh of the screen template. This inevitably leads to unclean print images in the subsequent printing process due to an excess of color. This problem is solved procedurally for printing a car glass pane along its pane edge with a decorative layer according to DE 41 09 707 C1 by using a screen stencil with a printing surface extending beyond the glass pane edge and the printing ink located in the screen stencil during the printing process immediately or immediately is removed from the mesh of the screen stencil after the printing process by means of pneumatic differential pressure, so that the screen stencil can be made free of printing ink again for each of the subsequent printing processes. Accordingly, in such a flatbed screen printing machine, the table top in the area of the peripheral surface of the object (glass pane) is equipped with a channel-like depression which can be connected to a positive pressure source via a distribution channel and pipelines, so that the excess ink can be suctioned off.

The material has been used in modern architecture for some time Glass reinforces use. In particular, facade cladding veneered over large areas with safety glass panes. These glass panes have to increase the optical effect regular decors from flat-bed screen printing ceramic stoving colors, whereby these decors over one Part of the glass pane surface (e.g. dot grid, strip grid, check grid, Vertical stripes, horizontal stripes or similar) or over the entire surface extend this area (see also motif catalog "Interpane / ipadecor" - from Interpane Sicherheitsglas, 31135 Hildesheim / 01/96-OdH). However, represents the building to be glazed due to its Geometric facade design also has special requirements to the surface geometry of the required glass panes, so that the facade cladding is not made of glass panes of a uniform Dimensions (e.g. with a square or rectangular outer contour) can be different, but the glass panes Outer contours (dimensions, in particular length and / or width, and / or surface geometries, such as rectangular, square, triangular, trapezoidal, etc.) and to the edge with the Decor must be printed, so even taking into account the solution known from DE 41 09 707 C1 for each of these glass panes a separate design of the table channels and the screen template and the related changeover time required because tolerances and positioning deviations of the Glass panes only within the width of the channel-like recess can be compensated and thus only a small scope guarantee. Would have the different outer contours Glass panes can only be printed with a stencil, the part that is permeable to the printing ink (= printing surface) the screen template, the glass pane with the largest decorative width and length must be adjusted. Will be after printing a first and less wide and / or long sheet of glass, a second Glass pane printed with a larger decor width and / or length, see above also remains at the points on the printing surface where the printing surface on the outline of the decor of the first printed glass pane protrudes and therefore not in the area of channel-like Deepening with connected pressure source (suction air flow) excess ink in the mesh of the screen template back. The lack of adaptation of the channel-like recess in the table top and the printing surface of the screen template to the Dimensions and surface geometries of the objects to be printed leads to a larger one for the subsequent printing process Decal width and / or length of glass pane unavoidable to ensure that the areas of the screen template with from the previous Existing color excess, further Ink is fed through the squeegee. As a result, it happens too fuzzy print images of the decors up to ghost images and with it committee.

The disadvantages of this known solution are that it not to be printed due to the creation of unclean printed images with decorations of flat objects, especially glass panes, different outer contours (dimensions and / or Surface geometries) with one and the same printing screen, whereby an adjustment of the table top for each of the objects and the screen template must be made. Furthermore, a great technical one Effort for cleaning the screen template by the required Suction device required.

Weitere Sieddruckverfahren bzw. Other boiling printing processes or screen printing devices with a hollow cylindrical Screen templates are known from documents GB-A-1526213 and WO-A-95/18020.

The present invention relates to a method with the flat objects, especially glass panes, different Outer contours (in terms of dimensions and / or surface geometries) printed with one and the same screen template can be guaranteed, whereby always a clean print image shall be. At the same time, a simply constructed device proposed to carry out the procedure.

According to the invention, this is achieved by the features of patent claim 1 reached.

The advantages of the invention are that flat objects, especially glass panes with different outer contours (in terms of dimensions and / or surface geometries) continuously or discontinuously with one and the same screen template can be printed to apply the same decor, and always ensure a clean print image can, because there is excess ink before the next printing process regardless of where on the printing surface this available after completion of a previous printing process is, can be eliminated. Accordingly, the printing surface of the screen template completely free of printing ink for a subsequent printing process Available.

Advantageous procedural developments of the invention are characterized in claims 2 to 4.

In addition, the device-technical embodiment ensures the invention according to claim 5 an extremely simple structure the device using functional elements that are identical in any case (second squeegee) and an effective color discharge from the Printing area of the screen stencil on the ink removal roller.

The invention is based on an embodiment and associated drawings are explained in more detail.

Dabei entspricht die Fördergeschwindigkeit des Förderbandes der Umlaufgeschwindigkeit der Siebschablone 2 und der Farbabtragwalze 3.The device shown in FIG. 1 consists of a rotating, hollow cylindrical and provided with a pressure surface 1 Screen template 2, which is in operative connection with an ink removal roller 3 stands. The printing area 1 is at least the largest Width 4 of the objects designed as glass panes 5 adapted to be transferred decor 6. In the interior 7 of the screen template 2 are two doctor blades 8, 9 and a feed device, not shown for the printing ink (ceramic stoving ink) 10 located, the first doctor blade 8 on the one to be printed Glass pane 5 facing side and the second doctor 9 on the Ink removal roller 3 is arranged side and the ink removal roller 3 has a paint scraper 11. Below the screen template 2 is an endless conveyor 12 in the form of a revolving conveyor belt arranged on which the glass panes 5 up to 5 '' '' and maintaining a defined distance 13 placed and the stencil 2 for printing with a same decor 6 can be fed continuously or discontinuously are. The conveyor speed corresponds to the conveyor belt the rotational speed of the screen template 2 and the ink removal roller 3rd

If a first, for example square, glass sheet 5 with a width 4 ′ smaller than the printing surface 1 of the screen stencil 2 is now moved under the screen stencil 2, the first squeegee 8 causes the transfer of the printing ink 10 located in the meshes of the printing surface 1 of the screen stencil 2 the glass pane 5 to form a decoration 6. However, due to the previously initiated rotation of the screen stencil 2, part of the printing surface 1 has also been provided with printing ink 10 ', which is already in the direction of the ink removal roller before the glass pane 5 comes into contact with the screen stencil 2 3 moved and thus its printing ink 10 'could not be printed on the glass sheet 5. If this color-enriched area of the printing surface 1 subsequently comes into contact with the likewise rotating ink-removing roller 3, the excess printing ink 10 ′ is transferred to the surface of the ink-removing roller 3 by the second doctor blade 9 and thus removed from the printing surface 1 of the screen stencil 2. The ink scraper 11 assigned to the ink removal roller 3 continuously cleans its surface from the ink 10 'and takes it back into the reservoir (not shown) of the feed device for the ink 10 for further use.
When printing on this first glass pane 5, both the lateral regions 14 of the printing surface 1, which protrude beyond the width of the glass pane 5, and the region which is defined by the distance 13 from the second glass pane 5 'to be printed (see also FIG. 2 ), provided with printing ink 10. Even if these areas come into contact with the ink removal roller 3, its excess printing ink 10 'is removed from the printing surface 1 and returned in the manner described above. The printing surface 1 of the screen template 2 according to FIG. 2 thus stands for the subsequent printing process of the second glass pane, which has a greater width 4 than the first glass pane and, for example, the glass pane (for example rectangular glass pane 5 ') with the largest decorative width of all the glass panes 5 to 5 '''' again free of printing inks and thus available for securing a clean print image of decor 6.

Accordingly, the screen printing process works in such a way that a rotating, hollow cylindrical screen template 2 is used, the Print area 1 at least the largest width 4 of the on the objects 5 to 5 '' '' to be transferred decorations 6 and hereinafter the one not transferred to item 5 to 5 '' '' Printing ink 10 'mechanically out of the printing area after the printing process 1 of the screen template 2 is removed. The mechanical Removal of the printing ink 10 'from the printing surface 1 of the Screen template 2 by means of a doctor blade 9 by transfer to a Ink removal roller 3, from which the ink 10 'taken over by a paint scraper 11 removed and into the reservoir of the feeder for ink 10 is returned. In addition, the glass sheets 5 to 5 '' '' on an endless conveyor 12 fed to the screen stencil 2 for printing, placing the glass panes 5 to 5 '' '' on the Endless conveyor device 12 continuously or discontinuously can be done.
