Abstract

A smoker's requisite for reducing the amount of smoke given off by the smouldering tip of a cigarette. The requisite consists of a rigid sleeve that may be slid along a cigarette and momentarily positioned over the smouldering tip thereof then withdrawn to enable the smoker to take a puff from the opposite end in a conventional way. Claims (19)

  1. Requisite for reducing the quantity of smoke emanating from the smoldering tip of a cigarette, consisting of an elongated ring (1) whose circular hole enables the aforesaid ring to slide with friction along the aforesaid cigarette (7), under the influence of the fingers of the user,
    wherein the ring comprises at least a proximal part (2, 10, 30) to be oriented on the side for inhaling the cigarette, made of a dimensionally stable material, and a distal part (31, 41) destined to receive or be close to the smoldering tip of the cigarette (7) characterized in that the distal part is made of a different material, said material being wood, meerschaum or terra cotta.
  2. Requisite according to claim 1 characterized in that the distal part is in wood or meerschaum and/or the proximal part is in plastic.
  3. Requisite according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the distal part is made of briar wood, boxwood, beech or corn-cob.
  4. Requisite according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the wood is briar wood.
  5. Requisite according to any of the claims 1 to 4 characterized in that the proximal part and the distal part are made of different woods.
  6. Requisite according to any of the claims 1 to 4 characterized in that the wood of the distal part is briar wood and the material of the proximal part the proximal part is a plastic.
  7. Requisite according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the proximal part has a configuration (12, 13) suitable for facilitating gripping by the fingers of the user.
  8. Requisite according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the proximal part or segment comprises an annular groove.
  9. Requisite according to claim 1 wherein the proximal part comprises an annular flange (35) on at least one of its extremities.
  10. Requisite according to any one of the preceding claims characterized in that the outer wall of the distal part has cooling elements, for example in the form of a screw thread or transverse or longitudinal fins (14).
  11. Ring or requisite according to any one of the preceding claims characterized in that the length is between 2.2 and 4.2 cm, typically 3.2 cm.
  12. Requisite according to any one of the preceding claims characterized in that the proximal segment comprises holes (11, 33) of various forms traversing the wall and enabling the ventilation of the body of the cigarette (7) under this segment.
  13. Requisite according to the preceding claim characterized in that the perforated surface of the proximal segment is greater than 20% , preferably greater than 30%.
  14. Requisite according to claim 1 wherein the proximal part comprises on its internal face essentially longitudinal grooves (5) enabling the ventilation and the stabilization by friction of the body of the cigarette (7).
  15. Requisite according to any of the preceding claims
    wherein the proximal part extends and holds the distal part by friction and at least partial covering, preferably in a facing (29, 39).
  16. Requisite according to any one of the preceding claims characterized in that it is associated with a plug (18) to be adapted to the distal extremity (30), the aforesaid plug preferably comprising a central part (17) adapting by friction to the interior of the sleeve.
  17. Case comprising one or several requisites according to any one of the preceding claims.
  18. Case according to claim 17 which is associated with an abrasive element (17) and/or a plug (18) for the distal part.
  19. Case according to the preceding claim characterized in that the abrasive element (17) is an elongated slightly conical element.
