Automated device for maintaining and assembling wooden elements on a pressing table. The device comprises a mobile gantry adapted to be movably mounted to a pressing table. The mobile gantry has at least one motor driven pressing jack and a rail. A motor driven motoring unit is slidably mounted to the rail. A plurality of spindles are arranged on the rail. A plurality of saw logs are mounted to the spindles, each saw log having a ring-shaped groove, an elastic element, and a bore for receiving a spindle. The plurality of spindles constitute a magazine for storing the plurality of saw logs. The motoring unit includes a vertically mobile rod comprising one of a single rod and a double rod. The vertically mobile rod comprises a lower end having a clamp adapted to remove a saw log from a spindle. The clamp comprises a U-shaped plate having an opening which is adapted to engage the ring-shaped groove of a saw log, the clamp comprising an elastic element adapted to engage the saw log. A computer system is also included for operating the mobile gantry, the motoring unit, and the jack.

    Claims (9)

    1. Automatic device for holding wood components on a bottom press plate ready for assembly, designed to produce various types of assembly such as roof frames, and especially small prefabricated trusses, comprising a longitudinal travelling mobile crane (2) with at least one hydraulic pressure cylinder (6) and a rail (9) on which slides a motor-driven unit (10) the role of which is to install and moved studs (4) holding the parts to be assembled, the movements of the mobile crane, the motor-driven unit and the hydraulic cylinder(s) being driven and operated by a computer system,
         characterised in that the studs (4) are equipped with a vertical bore enabling them to be threaded on vertical pins (16) arranged below the rail (9), and comprising a magazine of the said studs, the motor-driven unit (2) being equipped with a single or double, vertically mobile rod (11), and equipped on its lower part with a clamp (12) formed of a horizontal plate presenting a U-shaped side opening capable of being inserted in the annular throats (13) fitted at the edge of the studs (4), these being equipped, each one, with an internally sprung ball (17) to hold them on the pins.
    2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that each pin (15) is equipped with a series of circular throats (16) distributed along their length and into which may penetrate the internally sprung balls (17) of the studs (4) so that the latter part is held at the determined height.
    3. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the pins (15) are each one equipped with a shoulder (18) arranged at their base in such a way that, when stud (4) situated at the lowest point is withdrawn, the studs situated above fall through their own weight and are held by the internally sprung ball (17) of the lower stud pressing on their shoulder and base, and, when one stud is inserted at the base of a pin (15), the studs already present are pushed back up.
    4. Device according to any one of the aforesaid claims characterised in that the pins (15) are parallel and fixed beneath the rail (9), on its lower part.
    5. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the pins (15) are fitted on a rotating barrel, fixed beneath the rail (9) and whose rotation makes it possible to present up the pin on which the selected stud (4) is located in front of the clamp (12).
    6. Device according to any one of the aforesaid claims characterised in that the lateral U-shaped opening of the clamp (12) is equipped with a flexible part (14), such that the internally sprung ball, designed to maintain a stud (4) in the said clamp (12) while allowing its insertion or its extraction by exercising a slight force.
    7. Device according to any one of the aforesaid claims characterised in that the motor-driven unit (2) is arranged so that the clamp (12) can be positioned relative to any stud (4) present on a pin (15) and be inserted into the annular throat (13), by using just the movements enabling the studs to be fixed on the plate (3), or to withdraw them, i.e. the horizontal movement of the unit along the rail (9) and the vertical movement of the clamp (12).
    8. Device according to any one of the aforesaid claims, characterised in that the movements of the mobile crane (2) and of the motor-driven unit (10) are operated by an electronic system, the data relative to the positions of the studs (4) for a determined configuration being generated on a standard computer using an ad hoc computer programme, and transmitted to the electronic assembly by appropriate means.
    9. Device according to claim 8,characterised in that the position of each stud (4) is memorized after each movement so that the movement to be made for a subsequent new configuration can be re-identified and determined.
