Abstract

The proposed terminal is formed with a noticeably prismatic body in the interior of which are provided contact plates double elbowed rising from the walls or vertical faces forming that portion of the prismatic zone. In the other two faces are provided embossings acting as retention elements once introduced the terminal in the interior of the connector's cavity. As is a known form, in the initial portion of the terminal are provided with elbowed surface bases that are narrowed and enlarged provided with the corresponding wings which by a setting operation estabilish the contact between the terminal and the conductive portion of the conductive wire once naked of its sheat.

Description

  • The present application for a Patent Application consists, as indicated by its title, in an "IMPROVED FEMALE TERMINAL", which novel characteristics of manufacturing, shaping and design fullfill the object for which it has been specifically designed with a maximum of safety and eficciency.
  • More specifically, the invention refers to female terminals designed with a contact zone that is enclosed inside a sort of prismatic configuration and provided with the corresponding openings, whilst in the zone opposite is found an assembly of surfaces provided with the corresponding wings which, by the crimping operation, allow the contact of the conductive wire without its sheat with that portion of the terminal.
  • The terminals of this type are meet usually in the corresponding connectors and in the cavities designed into same for holding them, by which in the configuration of same has been provided a set of elements or means allowing that the termminal, once lodged into the connector, cannot get out of same, or that in the operation of placing the terminal into the connector, same does not remain in a "behind" position.
  • The proposed terminal is formed with a noticeably prismatic body in the interior of which are provided contact plates double elbowed rising from the walls or vertical faces forming that portion of the prismatic zone.
  • In the other two faces are provided embossings acting as retention elements once introduced the terminal in the interior of the connector's cavity.
  • As is a known form, in the initial portion of the terminal are provided with elbowed surface bases that are narrowed and enlarged provided with the corresponding wings which by a setting operation estabilish the contact between the terminal and the conductive portion of the conductive wire once naked of its sheat.
  • Other details and characteristics of the present application of a Patent of Invention will be manifest through the reading of the description given herebelow, in which reference is made to the figures attached to this description where the above details are depicted in a rather schematic way. These details are given as an example, referring to a case of a possible practical embodiment, but is not limited to the details outlined; therefore this description must be considered from an illustrative point of view and with no limitations whatsoever.
  • There follows a detailed report of the several elements named in the present description: (10) terminal, (11) vertical face, (12) horizontal face, (13) vertical face, (14) horizontal face, (15) embossing point, (16) tongue, (17) tongue, (18) windows, (19) elbowed surface, (20) narrowed base, (20a) wings, (21) enlarged base, (21a) wings, (22) window, (23) inclined plane, (23a) lateral walls, (24) contact plates, (24a) contact zone.
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved female terminal (10) seen from above.
  • Figure 2 is a perspective view of the improved female terminal (10) seen from below.
  • Figure 3 is a longitudinal cross section of the proposed terminal (10).
  • Figure 4 is an elevation front side view in of the proposed terminal (10).
  • Figure 5 is a front view from the anterior portion of the terminal (10).
  • In one of the preferred embodiments of what is the object of the present application, and as can be seen in Figures 1 and 2, at the outside the terminal (10) is formed with an appreciably prismatic zone formed by the combination of vertical faces (11 and 13) and horizontal faces (12 and 14), being in the interior of same the contact zones formed by the contact plates (24), see Figure 3, formed with the same material that the basis (11 and 13) and showing a doubly elbowed surface whose ends (24a) form the contact zone in the strict sense, with the corresponding male terminal not shown in the figures.
  • In the other two basis (14 and 12) of the terminal (10) are provided tongues (17) looking outwards and serving as retention elements of the terminal (10) when same is introduced in the interior of a connector, not shown in the figures.
  • Also said faces (11 and 12) are provided with the corresponding embossing points (15) extending one of the vertical faces (11) towards the outside in a tongue (16).
  • In the anterior part of the terminal (10) are found, as is an already known design, enlarged bases (21) and narrowed bases (20) provided with wings (21a and 20a), which by the setting operation allow the estabilishment the corresponding electrical contact between the conductive portion of the wire without its sheat and related (21) and (20) with the prismatic zone of the terminal (10) through an inclined plane (23) provided with lateral walls (23a) perpendicular to (23) and an elbowed surface (19) provided with lateral walls (19a), see Figures 1 and 2.
  • The terminal (10) estabilish the contact with a male terminal introduced into the interior portion of its prismatic zone, by means of the provision of contact plates (24) which are formed with the material of the vertical faces (11 and 13) and constituted as surfaces doubly elbowed whose end portions (24a) are the true contact zones of the female terminal (10) with the male terminal introduced into its interior and not shown in the figures.
  • In order to estabilish and control that the contact betwen the male terminal and the contract zones (24a) are the correct, the faces (12 and 14) of the terminal (10) have been provided with the corresponding windows (22), see Figure 2.
  • The functioning of the terminal (10) begins with the clipping of the wings (20a and 21a) plying over themselves and imprisoning between them and the enlarged bases (21) and the narrowed base (20) the corresponding wire without its sheat, moment in which is estabilished the contact between the corresponding wire and the terminal (10), following then the assembly of (10) in the interior of the corresponding connector for which there are provided in the prismatic portion of same and as above explained, certain tongues (17) and a tongue (16) which allow the setting and immobilization of the prismatic zone of (10) in the interior of the corresponding connector, following then the introduction of the male terminal into the interior of the prismatic zone of said terminal, estabilishing the contact between the flat surfaces of said male terminal and the contact zone (24a) which bends in grace to the double curvature of same, as can be seen in Figure 3
  • Enough disclosed what the present application for a patent of invention in agreement with the figures attached is, it's understood that can be introduced in same any detail modifications regarded as convenient, always without departing from the essence of the present patent as summarized in the following claims.
