Claims (5)

  1. A casing for the actuating mechanism of an espagnolette fastening device for doors, windows, French windows or the like, comprising a nut (3) mounted for rotation in the casing (1) and pivoted to a plate (4) extending substantially in the direction of the bolts (2a, 2b) and engaging therewith so as to move them between an unbolted position and a bolted position, one side surface of the casing (1) being formed with a groove (6) extending in the direction of motion of the bolts (2a, 2b) and engaging a lug (7) provided on one end of the plate (4), the said groove (6) comprising a means (8) co-operating with the lug (7) on the plate (4) so as to lock the plate (4) when the nut (3) is moved towards the espagnolette bolting position, the plate (4) being movable between a position where the lug (7) is situated at one end of the groove (6) and a position where the lug (7) is situated at the other end of the groove and engages a locking means (8), characterised in that the said locking means is a slot (8) formed in the longitudinal edge of the groove (6) adjacent the axis of rotation (X-X') of the plate (3), the lug (7) on the plate (4) being adapted to engage in the said slot (8) when the nut (3) is in the locked position.
  2. A casing according to claim 1, characterised in that the said means (8) co-operating with the lug (7) on the plate (4) also co-operates with a knuckle joint means for positive locking preventing any return of the bolts (2a, 2b) to the unbolted position.
  3. A casing according to claim 1 or 2,
    characterised in that the nut (3) is pivotally connected to the plate (4) via an oblong opening (9) offset from the axis of rotation (X-X') of the nut (3) and extending in the direction of the said axis of rotation, the oblong opening (9) engaging a pivot (10) borne by the plate (4).
  4. A casing according to claim 3, characterised in that the two longitudinal edges (9a, 9b) of the oblong opening (9) diverge in a direction opposite to the axis of rotation (X-X') of the nut (3), the pivot (10) being adapted, when the nut (3) rotates, to move in the said oblong opening between a position remote from the axis (X-X') of the nut (3) and where there exists an annular clearance between the pivot (10) and the oblong opening (9) and a second position near the nut axis and corresponding to the position where the lug (7) on the plate engages the end of the groove (6) in the casing (1).
  5. A casing according to claim 3 or 4, characterised in that the part (4a) of the longitudinal edge of the plate (4) which extends between a finger (11) and the end of the plate (4) remote from the pivot (10) is at a small angle (α) to the rear part (4b) of the plate (4).
