Description

The invention relates to a device for the exterior cleaning of ship hulls with at least one rotating drivable, rotatably mounted in a frame cleaning roller, which is at least partially below the water surface of a body of water.

The hulls of ships and yachts are populated below or near the waterline depending on the nature of the water over time by a variety of organisms such as algae, shells, corals and the like. This can u. However, in any case, the hydrodynamic resistance of the hull is deteriorated so that the driving characteristics of the vessel are affected or in motorized vessels increased fuel consumption is the result.

For this reason, the ships have been lifted about once a year by means of a hoist out of the water and removed the grown coverings manually.

In order to limit or prevent the colonization of the hull with living organisms, the hulls according to the prior art are also regularly provided with a so-called "antifouling" coating consisting of highly toxic substances, but their inhibiting effect diminishes relatively rapidly, since the used substances in order to be toxic to the organisms, must always be at least slightly soluble in water. The use of such toxic substances is problematic for environmental reasons.

The necessary manual cleaning of the hulls is rela tively time-consuming and causes considerable costs. Also, it can usually only be performed on expensive moorings where appropriate lifting cranes are available.

Such devices are known for example from DE 296 07 426 and US 4,236,477. All of these known from the prior art devices each have rigid roller axes, which are rotatably driven. A ship's hull is known to be curved, so that each roll axis is fully applied only in a certain linear range, but not along their entire roll axes. Consequently, the optimum pressure and cleaning pressure is effected only in a specific roller section.

The invention has for its object to further develop a generic cleaning device such that the cleaning is easier to carry out.

This object is achieved in that the cleaning roller has an elastically deformable and adaptable to the shape of the hull core, are rotatably disposed on the individual brush elements having on its peripheral surface brush-shaped, in the radial direction erstrekkende cleaning body.

In order to be able to exert uniform pressure on all areas of the hull, but also to be able to clean different hulls with the same device, the roller axes of the cleaning rollers are flexibly adapted to the hull shape. For this purpose, the axes may for example be constructed in segments, the segments are connected to each other, for example via spring elements. Also axle body made of elastic plastic or rubber materials are suitable for this purpose.

The surface of the cleaning roller is preferably designed so that it acts aggressively on the growing layers of living organisms in the rotating state, but there is no risk of damage to the hulls usually made of glass fiber reinforced plastic GRP. In particular, brush rolls, loop rolls, rolls with roughened surfaces or rolls coated with abrasive substances may be considered. Although in principle the cleaning of an entire hull with a cleaning roller is possible, but preferably one or more pairs of rollers are provided, the individual rollers are arranged in each case on the starboard side or port side. As a result, the required cleaning time can be drastically reduced.

The frame for carrying or for receiving the cleaning rollers can be carried by floats, but is preferably stationary in the water, for example, with the help of ground anchors positioned. The ship is then z. B. by means of an anchor winch or the like pulled by the cleaning system, the feed rate can be adapted to the thickness or manner of contamination and Bewüchse.

On the other hand, it is also possible to anchor the ship stationary and to arrange the cleaning rollers in the frame in the longitudinal direction of the vessel movable.

To adapt to different hulls, it is also advantageous to be able to move the cleaning rollers in the frame in the direction of the ship's hull. For the same reason, the angle of inclination of the roll body or roll axes should be adjustable to the vertical.

The drive motors or motors for adjusting the cleaning supply rollers are preferably arranged above the water surface and can, for. B. are supported by the frame for the cleaning rollers. They are connected to drive the cleaning rollers with these with the help of the usual drive elements such as timing belt, bevel gear or the like, so that the operability of the drives or bearings and other moving parts under water guaranteed is.

The drive or servo motors are preferably designed as encapsulated electric motors. Likewise, hydraulic or pneumatic motors can be used. In automatic cleaning systems, for example, they can be controlled by means of sensors that respond to the size, shape and position of the ship's hull.

In addition to cleaning rollers and rotating cleaning belts can be used, which are guided by means of appropriate drives against the hull.
